When Did Everyone Start Dressing Like Strippers?

Okay, I'm no prude...but when did everyone start letting it all "hang out"? I was shocked at the number of women in the parks that were dressed in really low-cut, provocative clothing. I always think of Disney as family friendly but after this last visit...I'm now thinking Fredericks of Hollywood friendly. Is it just me, or does anyone else find this offensive?

Agreed, but not only is it the "in" style, it's hard to find clothes for our daughter that aren't "Fredericks friendly".

I agree!! I was actually a little embarassed by some of the outfits on our past trip. I mean really now, I know it is hot but we don't want to see your goods!!

Not just Disney, trick-or-treaters too! Every mother that accompanied her kid was one of the following:
1. Anime character
2. Fetish character (e.g. nurse, school-girl, etc)
3. Slut/Hooker (the craziest clubbing outfits possible where everything hanged out)

How is that appropriate to wear when bringing your kid trick-or-treating!?!?!

And I thought it was just my age showing.....we saw a woman get off of the bus and walk into the MK is a string black bikini with a see through white cover up on and they let her in! We've been goint to Disney for 15 years and don't vacation anywhere else. The last few years we've really noticed that the "classiness" of the parks is slowly going away, it's sad.

My wife would agree with you COMPLETELY!!!!!!!

I have a tendancy to get "wondering eyes" sometimes and sometimes I see things that I really know "should" be covered.

One thing is, some ladies wearing the low cut tops, bend down to pick something up and WHOOLAAA, it's live porn. In all seriousness I dont know what is up with people but, it's true. They just show it all.

What I dont get is, the same people in many cases who dress very very scantily are the same who complain about being stared at by dirty old men.

While perversion is really wrong, I dont know how these women can even complain about it when men are gauking at them, as it just seems to me they are asking for it.

Standards are changning in America. Revealing cloths are not considered "provacative" any more, they are worn by many people because they are comfy. Europeans have had this attitude for years and can't understand the American prudishness when it comes to revealing clothes.

I do think things are going a little far, though. Revealing outfits is one thing, but people seem to forget all about personal hygene at the parks, too, and when you're wearing so little clothing the odors and the sweat are easily transferred, which is pretty disgusting.

I'm glad there are others who thought that MK was the wrong place to dress like that. We were at MNSSHP on Oct 25 and we saw 2 women wearing the same outfits. I guess they were an adult version of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Short blue and white gingham dress that was low-cut and corseted with high heels and white panty hose which stopped at mid-thigh. My DD who is 7 1/2 yrs old thought they were Alice in Wonderland. I told my DH - I bet it is more like Alice in someone's adult wonderland! Those outfits can be tolerated if you were going to an adult costume party, but I didn't think they belonged at the MK.

Revealing cloths are not considered "provacative" any more, they are worn by many people because they are comfy.

Believe me, the way those babies are strapped in and thrust forward is not comfortable! I think the only place you'd see more push-ups is boot camp!!!

Doesn't matter on the size...if they are a 3, 5, 7 or 9 it's not appropriate and they should set a better example to their kids and those kids around them. It isn't the beach or a night club, it's an "amusement park".

IMHO everyone should leave the miniskirt and tubetop at home -- that's why I started the thread. No one should be entering a family-friendly theme park dressed like a hooker. I know standards are changing and I would expect this at Pleasure Island or other night-time venues, but not on the Dumbo ride!

I totally agree. I don't think that I am a prude but I would never wear my pajamas (cami and cotton shorts) out of my bedroom. My dd 7 likes to roll her shirts up and the top of her pants down so that her mid-driff is showing. In the summer I am always telling her to wear her cloths right or go back to her room. I think it is all the young pop stars and so on that set the example. I know that my shorts are always mid thigh and when I bend over I always hold the front of my shirt so that nobody can see my "goods"

We just got back and if we had more film to use, we would have taken pictures to do a DIS pictorial of "What Not to Wear?"...because there was plenty of it going on. The worst was the 60+ year old Grandma who was wearing thin white shorts which did nothing to hide the fact that she was wearing a thong. She wanted that to be our view for Stars and Motor Cars...NO THANKS. To add insult to injury, she was about the rudest person that we came across during our entire trip. After that, my day was shot

Yes, I have had the same reaction in other public places! I have to say I've been lucky at WDW to be spared seeing that too often.

And it did seem like 2-3 years there that I had a heck of a time finding tee shirt type tops that hung down and covered my abdomen, even tho I wear misses size, not junior.

But I usually have two reactions - first surprise , then I kind of wish I was THAT comfortable about my body! Not that I'd dress that way anyway - not my style.

Nothing will shock me anymore after I saw a woman at the Magic Kingdom a few years ago wearing just shorts and a BRA. No, not a bikini top, an actual lace bra

It was a hot day, I'll give her that, but come on!

I considered starting a thread like this after we got back from Disneyland this summer, but I didn’t think it would cool for a guy to admit he noticed a lot of low cut tops! I really try not to look (I always think of Jerry Seinfeld telling George that looking at cleavage is like looking at the sun!) but it was really prevalent at Disneyland.

imo inappropriate is the same no matter the age or size ... everyone thinks they have the "right " to wear what they want but never think about the other person's right not to have to see it and as far as comfort goes, it's not and since they don't see themselves how is it appealing unless they are getting some kind of thrill by attracting attention? fortunately we usually go in winter so haven't seen a lot of this at disney but see it at the mall, grocery store, ect. i know you can not always tell what a person is like inside from their clothes but if they have morals why try to look like they don't

Funny that you guys mention these things. I've never noticed it before at Disney. For the most part, people dress well there compared to the people that dress in just their g-string bikini's to Universal/IOA that we noticed. This trip, omgosh. There was one woman that was in front of us in line at the Haunted Mansion and she had on these teeny spandex shorts and no joke, her bum cheeks were hanging out! We couldn't believe it. Her daughter was dressed just as bad but come on, no need to show your bum especially when little kids that height are standing behind you!
