When did Disney start to outsource their resort to park busses

During our recent trip in October we noticed Disney outsourced it's bus that take guests from resort to park. When the bus pulled up to the stop at POP, the driver got off and did not speak english. Many guest refused to get on the bus since the driver was really unsure of where she was going. She just kept pointing at the park sign where she stopped. She did not have a CM outfit on nor did the bus have any Disney markings except a hand written sign in the front window. A couple of days later I got this picture that did have the words Walt Disney World lit up. Sorry, but I can't post a picture any other way.

They don't outsource the buses, AFAIK - well not in the way you are describing. Did you get on the bus and get taken to a Disney park? It sounds more like a Mears bus taking people to Universal or other off-site location, or a shuttle bus from an off-site resort (although realize then it wouldn't have been @ Pop picking people up).

I wouldn't be getting on any bus that didn't have the official Disney markings on the side and a uniformed Disney driver.

As of right now, the only outsource are the DME and the DCL busses.
During certain times of the year, Disney will bring in Mears, to assist with moving guests, such as during the Chrsitmas week and July 4th to name a few.
The picture is not that clear, and I can only tell it looks like a bluebird bus, or more to the point a bus that is built to the same specs as a school bus. Its definitely not Disneys, or a Mears bus which is the prime outsource.

Personally I wouldnt have gotten on the bus either.

yeah they shouldn't give them the option if the fedreal dot say they have to speak enlish. They pass the writen in their language and then just learn the signs in english but still not good enough to satify the the fedreal dot. if the driver cant say in english this is the bus to lets say mk or this bus is for cms only then they shouldnt be driving. Because if thy get into an accident they wont be able to provide aid or speak to the police right away. I know they enforce it more for truck driver since they get pulled over more. They routinely bring in charter buses when they expect to be unable to meet demand. It seems to happen most frequently when 3 parks are closing at about the same time, but it can happen any time. They usually have them shuttling back and forth between one park and resort so they can't get lost, but sometimes Mears buses are used as floaters to fill in as needed.

Most of the buses brought in are either Mears or Dynamic, but they can be from any local charter operator, including generic-looking white buses with the operator's name in small letters.

You can identify buses working for Disney by a card in the windshield that has the Disney Transport logo over a 4-digit "virtual" bus number.

It was so creppy that I wanted to call guest services or complain. Also, the one morning in question I arrived at the TL bus stop at about 9:15am for an opening of 10am. The bus did not arrive till 10am (a diney bus) and the driver did not know how to get to TL. There were several guest that helped him after he drove past TL entrance. He had trouble finding DTD. We did arrive at TL about 10:30 from POP. Here are the pictures of the bus, I hope

No real Disney markings, no CM outfits, a woman that could not speak english except to say the park name perfectly and point at the sign she had stopped at, no disney CM to explain that this was a legit bus. I have used a cruise bus to go to the parks and I have rode a ME bus to get to a park. I have been to Disney many times over the past 14 years and this was a first for me.

Why would the driver not be happy about it?

In Boston lots of MBTA (transit) drivers would kill to get overtime.

Now in Boston, too, it would be nice if drivers got merit reviews with more weight on good customer service, as opposed to totally on seniority.

So instead of giving a CM overtime they pay someone a bunch less to take your place when your shift is over or possibly they called this non CM to work when your sitting at home not getting to work at all, just a guess

I have a learning disability your point in saying that is. but I was saying if the have a federal law stating they have to speak English and be able to reead the street signs in English then it dosnet make sense for states to give the writing in other languages. Their a big difference being learning disabled and not bein able to speak english yes people with learning dissabiltys could have the sane problem reading the signs and writing but that nOt the same as can't speak English. Their needs to be one test that every state gives and not in other langauges if it the federal dot states that they have to be able to speak and read English.

Slightly off topic but.....I have studied multiple foreign languages and have a degree in Russian and extensive classes in Slovak. I always excelled at reading and writing and had great difficulty with understanding and speaking each foreign language that I have studied. Which components come easier to you depends on your individual learning style. Reading and writing it isn't more difficult for everyone.

It still comes back to, the communication and safety issues. If someone sitting next to you can tell you turn left here, and you understand that, what happens when they have to fill out a incident report, after being involved in an accident, or after someone gets hurt? Or they see a sign they dont normally see, like a low bridge sign?
In the end it still comes down to being able to communicate and understand english clearly. And this person clearly coud not. What would of happened if the bus caught fire, and had to be evacuated? Or one set of doors were blocked due to an accident? Or worse yet, a guest has a medical issue and needs help now, would the driver understand? And be able to get help in a timely manner?

Dont get me wrong. Im all for people being bi lingual, or multi lingual. But for safety, you need to be able to communicate clearly, in those languages, before you take on the responsibility of the safety of those lives your are driving around, or sharing the road with.
