When did Disney start to outsource their resort to park busses

It still comes back to, the communication and safety issues. If someone sitting next to you can tell you turn left here, and you understand that, what happens when they have to fill out a incident report, after being involved in an accident, or after someone gets hurt? Or they see a sign they dont normally see, like a low bridge sign?
In the end it still comes down to being able to communicate and understand english clearly. And this person clearly coud not. What would of happened if the bus caught fire, and had to be evacuated? Or one set of doors were blocked due to an accident? Or worse yet, a guest has a medical issue and needs help now, would the driver understand? And be able to get help in a timely manner?

Dont get me wrong. Im all for people being bi lingual, or multi lingual. But for safety, you need to be able to communicate clearly, in those languages, before you take on the responsibility of the safety of those lives your are driving around.

thanks truck1 that was what was the point i was trying to make yur right.

I also don't care one way or the other, but to me without that Disney CM uniform on I really have no idea of what level of training these drivers have nor wheather I want the safety of my family left in their hands. You always read on hear about really bad experiences of bad transportation companies that people hire to take them to and from the airport. Why do you think some of them come recomended and some don't. These buses I photographed and witnessed are something very unusual to most of us and really the unknown. I was hoping many would jump on here saying they had had the same experience and had actually rode one of these busses with rave reviews. That has not happened so I will continue to be leary and hope not to see this again.

Your right their was somene esle on the disabilty boards saying another type of bus from dynmic came to pop and they had to wait for another bus because tha bus couldnt take wheel chairs. disney is still responsible because they hired these company to help them out they should make sure that they are safe and the drivers are acting in a safe way nd following the law. To tell you the truth that bus company you posted are used by disney to shuttle their cms around durning busy time. I seen them pull up to contempory but only cms get on and off. They use them when they make the extra cm they bring in to work mk they shuttle them to other parking lots. So i think their needs to be something at bus stops saying when it busy that a non disney bus might arrive and will take you to the park that on it sign to let people know it safe to get on. we are used to lookin for white bus with disney on he side now they want us to get use to new buses. it hard because in other area they could bring in temps if needed but when you dont have extra buses they are stuck useing out side company or just have long waits. Even if they give buses drive ot they run out of buses they could put them at each stop to answer questiona dn let them know that this bus is okay. If they have a cm at the stop the driver would not have to speak to anyone because the cm would of said this is the bus to mk it an extra bus dont worry. Disney dose try to keep wait time down but when it means you have to use an out side company that you have guest worried to get on they need to fix it by buying more buses and increase their highly trained drivers.

Thanks for the support and my family choose years ago to vacation at Dismey because of the level of service and quality of their CMs we just trust them and trust our children to be in their presence . Can't say that for other vacation spots or places close to us

Your welcome mybe enough people will complain and disney will buy more buses i think that the problem more then enough drivers to drive them. If they have 1300 driver and only 300 buses yes they could proberly use more drivers during certain parts of the year but they have to get more buses. They are already packing the buses to capicity so if they add more buses it will releave the stress on the system.

exactly. were people afraid that they were going to get kidnapped??

I think it was more of a What The........ scenario. A bus that looks nothing like a Disney bus pulls in, the driver points to a sign and cant communicate anything else. I dont know about creepy, but I would have avoided the bus.

I saw another of those busses today on property. We were driving east on BVD, and were passing the Swan/Dolphin and happened to notice 1. I think it turned into the Swan/Dolphin area.

The more I think of it the less sense it makes. The parks were dead the first week in Oct, and there has never been a reason to bring in extra outside busses, even outsource a route, that early.(Traditionally its July 4th, and the 2 weeks of Christmas is a outsource time.) Today, I cant see a reason either even though they finished up the parade taping at the MK. I made the mistake of going to the MK fri for some quick shopping for Christmas, and could have walked on any ride. I could have stood at any point on Mainstreet and not touched the person next to me while watching the parade be taped.

Why would the driver not be happy about it?

In Boston lots of MBTA (transit) drivers would kill to get overtime.

Now in Boston, too, it would be nice if drivers got merit reviews with more weight on good customer service, as opposed to totally on seniority.

Disney hints: http://www.cockam.com/disney.htm

I think it was more of the driver not happy that an outsource bus was being let on property to do his job, therefore eliminating/reducing the overtime.

Welcome.

I don't think people were sure. I have been to Disney many times since my kids were little and always taught them what a CM looks like and they can trust that. If something happens, find a CM. If felt like your in a park and a person with white shorts on, a light blue polo, black shoes comes up to you and tells you they are a Disney CM, but no name tag ( or one like you use to be able to get made in the park) and that you have been given a special prize if you go with them. Would you???? It was just the wrong time of day, low attendence so no warrant for bringing in extra help, and on and on. I really wish I could describe the way she was trying to communicate with the people at the stop, that is really what got me and the others at the stop.

Have you every been ask to get on one? I just really thought with all of the experience on this board someone would have mentioned this before.

but the bus didnt just sneak in. i assume it had to go through a gate and be let in by a cm. therefore, i still dont understand why people were so afraid to get on it. is there any evidence at all that many of the accidents, etc. that are mentioned are being caused by these drivers? again, i dont understand the fear here.

The college program kids call those blue buses, the "Loser Cruisers". That's how they get from their work location to the college program dorms.
Could it be that if Disney finds that they need help unexpectedly during the AM rush, and because those buses are already on property, is it that it might be the quickest way to solve the problem. If they call in outside buses, by the time they arrive and get assigned, they may not need them. Just putting it out there. Usually, but not always, they know ahead of time that they will need additional buses and call in the tour bus type of bus.

I suspect that if Disney could hire more of those types of buses, they would. After all, the Disney Transport buses are transit buses, not tour buses, and they're better suited to moving large numbers quickly. It's just that their main suppliers, Mears & Dynamic, have "luxury motor coaches" available.

And while every front-line cm is opposed to outsourcing, it seems to me that Disney's capacity problem is more lack of equipment than lack of available drivers. When we "down" a bus for a maintenance issue, there are usually just a few replacements available, and sometimes we have be driven back to our hub because none are available.

the cp busses use a letter system, not numbers. It couldn't have been a CP bus because the paper sign was not a letter.

Additionally, they can't be pulling busses from the CP routes to take guests. The main reason is those buses are on a TIGHT schedule. If there is a bus every 20 minutes, that means 3 busses on the route(say from housing to MK) If they pull 1 bus it screws everything up and will cause CMs to be late.

As for the number of busses, I don't agree there either. We don't need more busses, we need ppl to be prepared and move faster. It's like saying we need more ferry boats when in fact 3 is more than sufficient(and we pack them with 600 ppl) but what takes forever is getting ppl on the boat when they do not listen to our instructions to get on in a way that will make things faster for everyone. The busses are many times the same way and it also has to do with the coordinator's deployment capability.

Well, you're talking about management, resource utilization, and systems change. Yes, there's room for improvement.

That doesn't change the fact that, as the buses are utilized now, there are barely enough to meet the numbers allocated to the hubs. At least management is doing something (bringing in outside buses) to try to keep up with demand. There's also talk of a large order of new buses coming in soon, but I don't know how much of a net increase it will yield as more of the older ones are retired.

The parks were dead the first week in Oct

I was there the first week in October and they weren't dead - there were more people in MK on Oct. 4 for evening Extra Magic Hour than I've seen there in a very long time. We couldn't even get close to most of the rides. Rode the Mansion and left.

Mybe OCt 4 emh was busy but Dosent mean when truck1 went it was busy. If he says that main street was empty then I like to think he right each day the park can be crowed or not it depends Susie alot of people want to see. So mybe when he went alot of them was at epcot or another park and when you went that day with emh they was in mk.
