The only way to actually BID on a car is to rent and return to the same location, they do offer rental cars for one way rentals, but if you look at the rental grid on a one way rental, the "name your own price" block is missing.

That's interesting, so do they tell you up front what the price is then?

They do give you the prices up front for one way rentals, if you go look at their site you'll see that it's in a grid, I don't think their fixed prices are any better than any other site, though. You can save when you book through the name your own price avenue, but again that's only for same pick up and drop off locations and even with that it's hard to beat a code or a coupon from a site like mousesavers.

Yes, I love Bidding for Travel, I've gotten a 4* hotel for $75 in San Diego because of BFT, plus numerous other deals for myself and my family.

I now have a ressie for August with Thrifty for a midsize for $18 a day, it's hard to get a midsize for $16 or $17 through Priceline, not that it can't be done, it's just hard. I'll probably throw in some low ball bids through Priceline just to see if someone will bite, you never know.

I love Priceline, especially when I'm not real sure where I want to stay. I plan to use it for two nights in Tampa Bay in September to visit Busch Gardens before driving to Orlando.

I love Priceline, especially when I'm not real sure where I want to stay. I plan to use it for two nights in Tampa Bay in September to visit Busch Gardens before driving to Orlando.

I use it mainly for research, and don't usually ask for advice for the reason you mentioned. I got a nice 3* Hyatt in DT Tampa last year.

I must not be using the right codes or something because I have never been able to beat Priceline on car rental, except "back in the day" when National's Emerald Club was the way to go. I'll use Bidding for our trip in June because we are flying into Jacksonville, FL (and staying overnight) and driving to WDW via A1A in the morning. Let me know if you have any good Alamo discount information, that's the only company that will work for us (except for National of course which is really high) since I'll be returning it at the Dolphin.
