We usually like to beat the crowds and arrive pretty early.

However, I understand that certain attractions/areas are not open until an hour or more after the Parks open. So, it might help to know which direction to go first!

Do you experts know which attractions or areas have a delayed opening time.

I don't know if this varies, or if there is any official schedule listed anywhere???

Thanks!

ET and Kidzone open at 11:00 AM. Disaster and Twister open at 10:00 AM. The first Terminator show I believe starts around 10:45 AM.

I don't remember from years past if it is also like that in June. That is my pet peeve with Universal. I think that all attractions should open when the park opens.

Do these attractions like ET open at 11a, still in crowd days like July ?

thanks

Wow, this is information that should be posted on their web site!

So, we won't be heading for Disaster, Twister, ET, Jaws, etc....

I am now going back to their web site to recheck the closing times.

Here's some info from the guide map that we got this past week at US & IOA...

IOA
Me Ship, The Olive - open 10AM
Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges - open 10AM
Storm Force - Sun thru Thurs open 10AM, Fri & Sat open 9AM
Jurassic Park Discovery Center - open 10AM - 5PM
Poseidon's Fury - 11AM - 5PM

US
Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast - Closed Tuesday
Twister - Open 10AM
Curious George Goes to Town - Open 11AM
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster - Open 11AM
Fievel's Playland - Open 11AM
ET Adventure - Open 11AM
Disaster - Sat & Sun 10AM - 6:30PM, Mon - Fri 10AM - 5:30PM
Jaws - Open 11AM

Thanks SO much for posting these! Do you think it will still be the same in the middle of June?

If I had bought just a one day ticket and all these rides would have been closed for an hour or two after the parks opened I would have been SO mad. Why do they do this???

MY guess would be that these rides/attractions do not generate much of a crowd when the parks first open. A lot on the list are for the smaller children - probably because most families with small children have a hard time getting the children ready and fed and to the park at opening time. I do not know, but I would think there would be less of these time restrictions when the parks are more crowded in the summer.

What an odd list of late openings! And why in the world is Jimmy Neutron closed on Tuesdays? What a shock if you devote one day to the Studios and it happens to be on a Tuesday.

I think the openings may be the same but it also might vary. Disaster wouldn't close at 5:30 or 6:30 when the park is open until 8 or 9, for example.

They do it because, like taliategan said, the areas don't start to get any foot traffic until after 11am.

It must just be that one Tuesday for a rehab or something. The ride is not generally closed on Tuesdays.

They usually open earlier during peak times. For instance jaws will most likely be open by 10:00 or earlier in July. The closing of Jimmy Neutron had to have been for some kind of short refurbishment.

The rides that open later usually are ones that don't have people going to when the park first opens. I know Disney has a few rides that open later like Jungle Cruise and of course all of World Showcase.

One thing that Universal and IoA does that the other themeparks don't is to open the park earlier than announced especially if there is a crowd at turnstiles. The official opening is 9:00 AM but often they open at 8:30 or 8:45 AM and sometimes as early as 8:00 AM. Unlike Disney, that may let you through the turnstiles but hold you at rope-drop, Universal actually opens the rides and you can hit Hulk or Spiderman before the park is officially open.

I do wish they would all open at 9.

If you have Woody, Curious George, Fievel's, Barney, Jaws and occasionally Disaster too that's quite a lot of attractions from that area of the park.
Barney and Jaws were still closed at near 11:00 around the time we were there at Easter, not easy explaining to a disabled child.

And the timings posted earlier, blimey:
"Curious George Goes to Town - Open 11AM
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster - Open 11AM
Fievel's Playland - Open 11AM
ET Adventure - Open 11AM
Disaster - Sat & Sun 10AM - 6:30PM, Mon - Fri 10AM - 5:30PM
Jaws - Open 11AM"

Get there early has always been our policy, Joshua is such an early riser and it's cooler then too. Just defeats the objectives when so many rides are not open. You look at the timings above, they may as well not open MIB and The Simpson's , just close that whole area of the park. Not everyone goes straight to Shrek, Jimmy Neutron and The Mummy, just doesn't seem fair on the little one's.
Why not just open the whole park at 11 then

I know people will say it is the same or similar at WDW parks which is true. My feelings are similar for all the parks.
