I'm trying to plan for next year. I've looked at the crowd calendars already but I was wondering when different parts of the country had their school vacations. We live in NH and our kids are on vacation Feb 22-26 and April 26-30. We're thinking about going in mid-March and I've heard it is busy. Just thought I'd see how many kids are on vacation then (I know that is when college has their spring breaks). Thanks!

I live in NH too and have found that when my kids are on vacation the last week in April, most all of the other schools have already been and its not too crowded. We were just there this year and I would say the crowds were about the same as they were when I was there in October 2008, light to moderate. We were at AK in the middle of the day and waited in line for Expedition Everest. Wait time was about 15 minutes.

I've been in March and have found it was definitely more crowded than it is the last week of April.

February wasn't too bad, except the weather can be iffy. We've been and its been beautiful and we've been and had to wear jackets, hats and gloves.

I live in Northern NY and our Easter break is the week before yours.

We're in CT and dss's spring vacation for next year is April 19-23. We'll be flying to Orlando on the 17th (or thereabouts) and spending the week at Universal next year! :goodvibes

I'm in Massachusetts, and both our breaks next year are the week before yours.

First of all, no school in the south has two breaks like that, NOBODY!
Most have one spring break, and many of them are around Easter. They can be any time in March or April, BUT the week before and the week after Easter are ALWAYS the most crowded spring weeks at WDW. You have to check and see when Easter is.

Here Spring Break is always the last week in March. Friends went last year and it was crazy crowded. Crowds were reported to be heavy ALL of March and April, it slowed down a little in May.

I think of your two week the February one would be less crowds since breaks at that time are very rare (seems like a lot of time off school to have Christmas off and then both of those weeks so close together:confused3)

We live in PA and my kids have a partial week off the first week in March. We are trying to plan a trip starting Feb. 27-March 8. That way they wouldn't miss too much school.

We're in MA and the kids have school break from 2/15-2/19 and 4/19-4/23.

We're going down 2/10-2/18 but are debating on extending the trip and heading out on 2/7. While the weather may be a little more iffy in Feb than April the crowds should be pretty low until the 15th (Presidents Day and my dd's 5th bday) so we're hoping to get in all the must do's in the first few days and then take in the atmosphere when the crowds set in.

We're actually looking at pulling the kids out of school and going in mid-March because that is when I am off from work (I teach at a college), I think we will miss the Easter rush anyway.

In our school system, the kids have a Fall and Winter break, as well as a Spring break. Our fall break is usually half a day Wed, then Thursday and Friday, and then the Winter break is usually half a day on Friday and then they are off Monday, Tuesday (and some years Wednesday too!). Both of these are prime times to snatch your kids and run to Disney. Spring break around here is always tied to the Master's Golf Tourny and is consistent with a lot of other Southern schools. We are guilty of snatching our kids in Feb. and Oct. and becoming Disney bound, but they are 8 and 4. Spring break is spent at the beach.

I'm also in NH. Our February and April vacations are always the week after the MA vacations which helps with crowds at all the regional attractions. This year we went to WDW during the February vacation which was great since it seems as though the only other part of the country on break in New Orleans (locals evacuate for Mardi Gras; there was purple, green and gold everywhere). I love being off from the rest of the country.

February break is the last week of February. April break is the last week of April. It's been consistently this way at least for the 5 years we've lived here.

Kentucky here...fall break is usually the second full week of October, winter break starts a few days before Christmas and last til the new year, spring break is usually a week running into Easter

Funny how different the school calendars are across the country. My kiddo's school district, as most of the others in the area, break the second to the last or last week of March. No winter break, other than the long weekend at President's Day. We're out for summer the 3rd week of May.

Enjoy your trip!

Erin

Kindergarten through 8th grade here in my part of NC is year round, so the kids are on for 9 weeks and then off for three weeks throughout the year (except at the end of their school year, when they have about 5 weeks off). High schools, private schools who stay on a traditional calendar, and a handful of schools who have not gone year-round usually have their break the week before Easter.

This past March WDW was very busy, but the 4/3 deal probably had something to do with it.

Our school is out the week of March 29th and that's it. We have 2 days off for President's Day too, so I guess people will g away over that period too.

My kids attend a parochial school in Houston, but our calendar basically follows that of all of the large public school districts in southeast Texas. Wed-Fri off at Thanksgiving, two weeks off at Christmas starting 12/21 and spring break is March 15-19, 2010. There are also a few random Friday holidays, but that's basically it. We spent a great mid-March spring break week at WDW in 2007 and rarely waited for anything using TGM's advice, despite the large crowds (mostly from Texas!!). :upsidedow

I live in northern New Jersey and my kids get winter break Feb.15- 19 and Easter Break starts Good Friday which is April 2nd, then they have off the entire following week which is April 5-9th.
