When are you able to make a reservation with new points?

If you bought new points with a Sepember use year, when could you make a reservation for December of 2003? Would you have to wait until closing to use your 2003 points for your reservation? I know you cannot bank or borrow these points until closing, but I am unclear about the reservation status.

If you are buying directly from Disney, I believe you can still book a reservation as soon as you make your deposit. (Like you said, you would not be able to bank or borrow for the the reservation)

If you are buying a resale, you will not be able to book until you close.

If buying directly from Disney, you can make a reservation as soon as your deposit is received. You are only able to use current year points until closing, since they don't allow banking/borrowing until after closing. If you need to utilize banking/borrowing for your Dec reservation, you'll have to wait until after you close unforunately.
