The new Spring Discount is out for Disney World Resorts. Does anyone know when Orbitz updates their prices to reflect this? Normally they have been up at the same time Disney releases their new set of discounts! I'd like to book through Orbitz so i can also get the additional discount using a promo code.

I just booked through Orbitz for two nights in April. I was able to get a room that wasn't available through the Disney site. I got the room with the 25% Disney discount and an extra %15. Good luck !

Discounts now show also on Orbitz. I used promo code Review15 and saved even more $$$. For May 4-11 on Disney for AKL is $1822.27 with the 30% discount. Using the the Orbitz code on top of the disney discount I was able to book the AKL for $1559.17!!!!! Very happy!!! And it's all sync'd in MDE!!!!

Any drawback to booking with orbitz? Can I still call Disney to make my requests?

Also I thought I read to put 2 adults in search and then call to add children later. Is that correct? Price does go up if I put my 11 year old along with us when searching. That makes me a bit nervous.

I just called on this issue and was told It's more for 4 people in the room then 2. I'm not a happy camper :confused3 I was under the impression to book 2 adults and then call to add the 2 kids. Any advice would be good on this issue.

I was checking the Disney site after seeing today they released the Spring sale and our dates are end of April. Nothing would come up so I called Disney...waited 2 minutes for a live person and was on the phone for 15 minutes as she tried to find the deal for WL Standard Room...she said it couldn't be found for any room other than Club Level so I told her no thank you and hung up.
Got on Orbitz and they had rooms discounted and the GIFTME saved 15% and all in all we needed 2 rooms (me, wife, 2 kids and one for my wife's mom and dad). We saved 500 bucks a room!
I knew to book adults only so I got on Orbitz chat a few minutes later and asked the person to add my two kids. She said SURE! and took my info...called Disney...and said she had to send them an email and would forward info to me once done.
Crossing fingers as it's been 3 hours and they're not there yet!
I know I know, "A watched pot never boils..." LOL

I booked through Orbitz last easter and yes book 2 adults then call Orbitz to add 2 kids. They put me on hold to call Disney, then came back on the line and said I was all set. I linked to MDE and my kids were there instantly. No problems with our trip. I won't hesitate to book with them again.

If you get an agent that does not help you, just hang up and call back. I did have to explain that Disney doesn't charge for kids before the agent would put me on hold and call Disney ;)

The only drawback is that you can not get the dinning plan through orbitz, correct?

Oh good! I was trying to book a room with 4 adults and 2 kids. Disney let me but cheaper with orbitz so I should book 4 adults 1 child and call in to add infant?

UPDATE!

Yesterday I did a chat with Orbitz and they were emailing my request to add 2 children to our room.
Today I called as nothing was showing up and got an agent who first said the it was done, the email sent and he'd resend the email confirming it.
I said I never got an email yet.
I asked if he could call and check on it.
Well, he did and a few minutes later...BOOM...kids are in!
He had to ask kids names/ages but it's done!
Super nice agent and it's all done!
Woo hoo!

UGH! I am on hold right now with Orbitz. I told them 2 adults and 2 kids for the room and, if it is supposed to be a 30% discount for Beach Club, we were charged an extra $300.

Correct, no dining plan. You can't book packages through Orbitz and dining plan can only be purchased with a package.

Other things folks might consider drawbacks:

You pay in full, up front. Fully refundable though, based on Disney's parameters for room-only reservations (refundable up to 5 days before arrival, after that cancellation penalty is the equivalent of the first night's stay, rack rate)

You have to arrange for DME yourself if you want it, but it can be done online or by calling DME directly.

If you want to apply a different discount or change resort, dates or length of stay, you have to cancel and rebook.

Orbitz has an issue where it charges extra for all persons past the first 2 in the room, regardless of the age of those persons. You have to arrange to add children under 18 later (thru Orbitz who will do the booking through Disney) in order to have them added without extra charges.

There are varying reports on how to deal with room requests or anything you wish to put on your reservation. In theory, Disney will not deal with you because that reservation belongs to Orbitz. On the other hand, some have reported that they called Disney directly and were able to do such things. It helps if you can somehow retrieve the 12 digit Disney official reservation number.

UGH! I am on hold right now with Orbitz. I told them 2 adults and 2 kids for the room and, if it is supposed to be a 30% discount for Beach Club, we were charged an extra $300.

You may have to explain to them that the children should be added via Disney without any extra charges for the 3rd and 4th persons in the room.

Make sure you are booking a room with a capacity of 5 persons plus one infant. Book the 4 adults, you will be charged for them anyway. Call AFTER you have made the reservation to add the child and infant. Tell them they need to add them by calling Disney because you should not incur an extra person charge for them.

Always remember that while Disney charges "adult' prices for anyone 10 and older regarding park tickets and dining, when you are booking a resort room and nothing else a "child" is anyone under the age of 18. You should be able to add anyone to your reservation (without exceeding room capacity) between the ages of 0 and 17 without being charged the per night fee for having more then 2 persons in the room.

Aack! I think I'm going to cry. One keystroke may be costing me $443?! The customer service lady at Orbitz keeps saying I already admitted to having 4 people in the room and she could lose her job if I show up there with 4 people and the kids can't get in the room, etc. Aaack! I explained it all to her and she just goes in circles. And I CAN'T cancel and rebook, because the tickets are nonrefundable and tied to the reservation. I asked if we could just cancel the hotel part, but it's a package and the tickets are nonrefundable.

Help?!

She also keeps saying she doesn't think they charged extra as it doesn't show any breakdown of an extra charge for 2 more people. But I went through the process of almost re-booking and there is $443 difference if I put just 2 in the room and even do the tickets all the same (5 people).

Once it is booked with Orbitz, can they issue a partial refund if they realize they messed up?

Some of their agents are just not knowledgeable about this. Get someone else on the phone, or use their online chat feature.

Phew.....third time was the charm. Fiona at orbitz was able to cancel the hotel only portion and book with just 2 people in the room. Now I'm going to have lunch and then see if I get this all linked and straightened out on-line with Disney. I told Fiona I loved her! Ha.

How do you link the orbitz reservations for room and park tickets to MDE? Is it an easy process?

You will be issued a Hotel Confirmation Number that you use to link your reservation to MDX. It will be on your e-mail confirmation and on your trip entry in your Orbitz account. It is not the long Orbitz booking reference number, it's six characters which can be letters or numbers. You will find it in the area where they list the resort and the particulars of what you booked.
