Do they have wheelchairs at BWV? I'm taking my Mom in Oct. and will need to get a wheelchair for her (she can walk, but not for any distance. When we checked in at WL two years ago, I asked if there were any wheelchairs and I was able to use one for our stay.

Is that possible at BWV or should I call a rental agency in Orlando to rent one for the week?

Thanks!

Just phone ahead to MS they will have one available for you. If you just show up and ask you may get one right away or you may have to wait, better to be prepared...

When I took my family in 2004, MS told me that there would be some at the resort but that I could not "reserve" one -- if others got there before we did, we would be out of luck. I figured that the likelihood of that happening was pretty slim, and with the Beach/Yacht Club next door they'd probably be able to borrow one of those if we really needed it.

As it turned out, they had one available when my dad asked for it fairly late in the afternoon on a Sunday. (Of course, the CM asked for my father's first born son -- dad figured that he already had a couple of grandsons out of my brother, so he called him over to the desk and said "here he is." ::shrug:: I guess my brother was too old for the CM because the CM didn't seem to want to go through with the deal. Dad got the wheelchair anyways.)

:-)

This was in October 2004, so I'd also suggest calling MS and talking to them about it.

In general, the wheelchairs are first come, first serve and can't be reserved ahead of time. There is no guarantee of whether they will have one when you ask or whether the one they have will meet your needs (if may be a narrow wheelchair when you need and extra wide).

Many people rent one from one of the off-site medical equipment companies just to be sure - contact information for the companies that DIS posters report good experiences with is in the disABILITIES FAQs thread located near the top of the disABILITIES Board. You can get there from the link in my signature.

If you do decide to try getting one from your resort, I'd still take the contact information, just in case.

Thanks for the replies!

Terri

Last Aug my back went whilst I was on DCL. We were due to go to BWV after the cruise.
When we got there they did not have a wheel chair, it took a while but I managed to check in with DH and we went straight to our room to lie down.
15 mins later there was a knock @ our door. The guy from Bell services was there (and a bit out of breath) he had ran round to the yacht club and brought one of there wheel chairs.
I was extremly grateful
trust disney ;)
