Ours is on our first trip in 1987 - we were sat on the terrace at our Sunny Isles, Miami hotel, it was getting on towards midnight when we sat for an hour watching the most extraordinary electrical storm out at sea. The lightning was spectacular and crowds of people watched it disappear into the Atlantic. The power of that storm was awesome and is vivid in the memory after all these years.

Anyone else.......?

Im not sure if this is what you are after, but in 2001, DS kept getting stopped by americans and asking for his autograph, they thought he was the kid out of the film jerry mcquire!!!

2003 meeting Trevor Nelson at AK!!!!!!!!!!!(okay and richard twice nightly, sorry Whiteley!)

Hi Jules

Did you play along with it anytime?

My younger brother looks the double of Liam Gallagher and a few years ago we went to a club in London and were ushered into the VIP lounge and spent the evening with the so-called stars!
(He has actually since appeared as Liam in Goodnight Sweetheart and a few other programmes).

Best wishes

Hi Lol,I was driving up I4 when I could see in the diff a little pick up truck with a cage onthe back, curious I caught it up expecting chickens or something but it was in fact a HUGE LION!!! And I mean HUGE!! so I thought S*** I dont want to be stuck behind this in a traffic jam and over took when passing I noticed another cage in front which held a TIGER!!!!- I kept my foot down!! In saying that though they were gorgeous creatures,

Hi Ian

I saw a wild boar (Pumba!:) ) on the way back to WDW from the Cape (cruise). He was just trotting alongside the highway (now that would have been some roadkill). It was weird.

I don't really have anything interesting myself, DH on the other hand does....

Years ago before we met he had an american girlfriend who lived in Florida (just outside Orlando), he thinks that his most unusual time in Fl was when a cabbie tried to drop him off near a swamp in the pitch black, there were crickets chirping and a big sign saying 'beware of the aligators', as he didn't know where he was going.

However, far more amusing is the fact that my DH a HUGE theme park fan spent in total 5 weeks in Orlando back then and in all that time only managed one afternoon in a theme park............. Cypress Gardens :)

He's also just reminded me that her best friend's husband worked for Disney and they could have got in for free - hilarious!

A fact that I find highly amusing, good job he can laugh about it as I tease him on that one a lot!!! LOL

Was there a walrus driving?? ;) Now that would have been even funnier!! LOL

We saw funny looking animals around the villa on our trip a couple of weeks ago........I think they were armadillos???

Odd looking little creatures!

I remember being asked by some nice young ladies from The Bronx if my accent was GERMAN!

Australian maybe - but GERMAN?

We saw armadillos at All Star Music resort last summer I was more excited at that than all the animals we saw at AK.

A number years ago we were heading to Busch Gardens. We were just into Tampa and we noticed the sky way in the distance was jet black  . We thought a storm had passed but it wasn't untill we noticed the lamposts were twisted like corkscrews it was then we realised that it had been a Tornado

Tell me you're joking. It's so embarrassing when my fellow citizens say things like that.

This happened when we were there in 98', dw was 7 months pregnant with dd.
We had just come out of EPCOT, when it started to rain. Nothing unusual in that I hear you say, it rains alot in Florida in August... It rained so hard that we had to stop the car, as the wipers couldn't shift it fast enough, we just stopped dead centre in the road we were travelling along (the one past DTD), we knew that no-one was going to go into the back of us, as there was no way anyone would be able to see to drive. Once it cleared very slightly, and we could see ahead, we could see downed trees all over the place (and garden furniture!), directly in front of us. We couldn't drive forwards, due to a tree semi blocking the road. I managed to drive round the tree and on to the road which has the LBV hotels on it (the ones which are not classed as Disney hotels, but still have some of the privledges!)
The rain and now hail, was coming down like I've never seen before (or since!), we pulled into the first hotels carpark and drove underneath the canopy (where you pull up to let valet parking take your car, I imagine!). Lots of other people were doing the same. After 15 minutes of so, it had seemed to ease off (again only very slightly), so we thought we'd risk pulling out and continuing our journey back to our hotel. Big mistake!
We drove into the car park straight into what must have been a couple of feet of water. The car immediately stalled. It wouldn't restart. (meanwhile the golf ball hail and torrential rain had been joined by lightening strikes) After a few minutes, I managed to get it to start by jamming my right foot hard on the accelerator and my left foot on the brake, it was the only way we could get it to come back to life. We continued out of the car park and across the junction into the Crossroads area, into TGI's car park. Once safely inside, ready after our excitment for much needed refreshments, we saw, just like in the movies, an enormous procession of police cars turn into the road we'd just escaped from, close it off and disappear up it!
Watching the news that night, it turned out that a mini tornado, a twister, had hit the DTD area, and unknowingly we'd sat/drove/cowered through the entire incident!
Now when it rains hard, an all too frequent event in Florida, I get very jumpy!

Bonzo's story reminded me if something else - the girl selling us a photograph at MGM asked where we were from - I said Scotland.....oh she said, is that near New Zealand?

DH and I looked at one another and tried not to laugh! She still had no idea where it was after I told her it was Europe!!!

Years ago when MGM had a backlot show featuring the Teenage Mutant Turtles and American lady in front of us at the show turned to her friend and said "Do you think they are the real turtles or are they just actors in costumes". You work it out!

Another time when we were at the petting zoo at San Diego Zoo and young American boy turned to his mother and said "mummy this sheep feels like real wool".

Hi Ming :) Welcome to the DIS - nice to see you posting! I remember the Turtles well - I nearly lost the children as they chased after the van they used to drive up to the stage

I don't really have anything too unusual to share., but some of yours reminded me of a few instances.

We saw an armadillo in the car-park at what is now the Nikki Bird hotel, and when returning from a meal out with our relatives who live in Boca Raton, they used the remote to open their garage door and there was the HUGEST toad I've ever seen staring out at us - I still can't believe they grow that big, it was at least as big as a cat!

I also remember losing our way from Busch Gardens to Clearwater Beach and ending up in Ocala ( you need to check the map out to see HOW lost we were LOL!)

We were in UK talking to a Liverpudlian CM and my son was discussing the merits of Robbie Fowler with him and I heard a lady from the US say to her friend..... "You must come and hear this guy speak! He has the most wonderful Scottish accent."

Last one - (who is that yawning ;) ?) We were watching a snake whilst we waited in a loooonngg queue for BTMR (before Fastpass) - it was winding its way around some rocks that are fenced off there. A little boy said,"Dad!! Come look at this snake!!" ... the father didn't look very closely and said, "That's Disney for you son - it isn't real, just an animatronic".
