I can't believe I've been posting almost 3 years! We're comming up on our 4th trip since registering and I haven't worn my ribbon, yet.

Anyone got any nice tales of wearing their ribbons?

We wore our green ribbons last summer. Didn't see anyone else wearing them, but we saw Safari Steve who wanted us to wear our ribbons on our foreheads! Also while walking to the Dolphin from the boat, a woman came running up to us and asked if we were from the "Dis". We hugged and talked a while.

I briefly met a Dis-er and her family once -- by pure accident. We didn't frequent the same boards, so didn't know each other.
My best experience was walking across the street at MGM one drizzly day and someone yelling out at me. It was mhopset! I never really knew him from the boards. But I was very glad to meet him. We had a very nice chat waiting for the parade to start. Would love to meet up with him again! :bounce:
Not often do you see a green ribbon. I think in all our trips, there have only been those two times. Except for the times I purposely met up with a fellow pin buddy. :bounce:

I usually hang out on the cruise board, but our next trip is a land and sea, so I popped over here and found this thread.

On our recent Magic cruise, DS and I wore green ribbons (DH didn't wear his). On the bus over to the port, the gal across from us saw the ribbons and asked if we were Dissers. We met others in the line to get on the boat, and then had a Dis meet later in the cruise.

It was fun to see some familar faces throughout the week.
Although I am sure its much, much harder to find folks at the parks as opposed to the ship.

We have had a few ribbon experiences, the first being in august 2002, staying at AKL we tied the ribbon to the door handle and soemone (sorry don't remember who) left us a note under our door. Never did get to meet with our busy days.

Then in Dec 2002 we met 3 families while we were on the boat from WL to MK. (at different times) I don't remember everyones name either, I'm bad with names. One woman was the woman who asked about bringing a microwave to the room with her. I did remember her by that post, what an uproar she caused here!

So wear your ribbons, they do work.

We were there during DISCON last Dec. and didn't see a single green ribbon. 'Course I wasn't wearing mine either.:o

I had put a ribbon on my pin lanyard and fastened it with a pin and a few people asked me about "that cool pin" LOL, I had to explain to them it's just a regular pin but I am wearing a ribbon to signify the DIS. I also had two on my purse. I met up with a couple at Epcot who were from the DIS, I think the girls name was Autumn something (sorry!) and we chatted a bit.
Then I went to the Contemporary pin meet and a couple said "hey, you're the first person I've ever seen wear a DIS ribbon!" , we chatted a bit too. The last ribbon encounter I had was at my hotel POFQ, they were too far for me to call or run up to them and I'm pretty sure they just arrived since they were lugging suitcases.

I saw lots of green ribbons during DISCON ;)

Apparently many people use that color green to identify their luggage at the airport because I've approached a lot of people and asked if they were from the DIS and they thought I was nuts, telling me that they just had that ribbon on their backpack or whatever so they could spot it easily on the luggage carousel

I'm always on the lookout for lime green ribbons, though. I like to use my lime green lanyard from DISCONI as my ribbon. The only problem with that is that it can only be seen from the front.

We wore ribbons (I think it was on our waist packs) on our last trip, but no one commented.

It would be fun to meet a fellow DISer, but with our jam-packed schedule, we wouldn't have a lot of time visit anyway!

didnt notice any when i was WDW but i did meet a fellow diser in the grocery store!!! LOL...we got to talking about disney and our boys started playing together. we now try to get together regularly and talk on the phone constantly. i love making new friends.

We usually have them tied to a camera bag or something.
In 99 when we were at the Poly we met Dan Murphy and family.
In 2001 we ended up as the 2nd family in line to board the Magic. Low and behold the 1st family and 3rd family were both DISer to! I spotted the green ribbon on her purse and asked.
Sometimes I am to chicken to ask if a green bag or shirt "represents anything special", but ribbons are a bit easier to be sure of.

I was just at WDW last week and unfortunately saw no green ribbons :( I doubt hubby would have let me stay and chat anyway tho.... lol!!

I've had a lime green ribbon on my backpack for my last 3 trips, but nobody has commented on it. I didn't notice anyone else with green ribbons, or I would have said something! :teeth:

I also have a lime green ribbon attached to my backpack and it has been for the last 3 trips and also haven't had anyone comment or see anyone else with them.

I did however see two people last week with AllEarsNet.Com bottle straps at the Lion King Show in AK. I didn't talk to them though.

We have been to WDW 4-5 times since the DIS ribbon thing started. We always have a lime green ribbon on our backpack. The very first trip with the ribbon (Dec-98/7?), we had several encounters. We met a family at CBR in the food court from Wyoming and had a nice chat.We took the Yuletide Tour and the other people were from Indianapolis who were sportin the green. That year we also ran into CM at MGM who was aware of DIS. In all the subsequent trips we have seen no one or had no one come to us. There was another CM at the MK who responded. I think this points out that we are just a drop in the WDW bucket, in spite of our allegiance and dedication we are but few.:earsboy:

Just before we went last month I had posted to see if people were still wearing ribbons because when we were there in November we didn't see any. Anyway, the night before we left I kept saying to myself "don't forget the ribbon, don't forget the ribbon" but of course, I forgot the ribbon.
We didn't notice anyone else with them though. We did meet a pintrader who is on the boards but who's name we can't remember; she was from Baltimore though, and was very nice. She didn't have a ribbon either though. Hopefully come September (or if airfare goes WAY down and we can sneak down before then) I'll remember and both of us will have our ribbons!!

I wore my lime green ribbons on our last trip (10/2001). I didn't see anyone else wearing them but did have 2 people approach me about it.

At AK while looking for a seat at the Lion King show a woman called out "Are you a Disser?" and we chatted for a little while.

I was also approached by a CM at MouseGears who new the DIS and struck up a conversation about my ribbon.

Wore mine on backpack, and had one on our stroller went Oct 23 - 26 2002 - Didn't meet a one! I'll be wearing again in April. My 'Lime' was more of a darker green so maybe that was it.

While I always wear mine on a WDW trip, I've only seen one other Diser.

Maybe we are just a shy group in public!:):):)
