Hi,

We've never stayed at a Disney Moderate Resort. So, what's your favorite and why? It's just me and DH, so we don't have to take kids into consideration for this trip.

Port Orleans French Quarter. Small size, quiet, nice hot tub, boat to Downtown Disney, first on and off the buses when sharing with Port Orleans Riverside, beignets in the food court, beautiful landscaping with pretty little areas with fountains, path by the river, and I think it would be romantic :lovestruc for a couple.

There is a lot to like at POFQ! :thumbsup2

Caribbean Beach!!

It's largely personal preference for me (I've stayed at Coronado Springs and it felt too corporate; I've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and it felt too stuffy and flowery, I have no desire to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter because I have horrible memories of a trip to New Orleans and the themeing just makes my stomach clench when I see it), but Caribbean Beach is a beautiful, laid back resort that's like a vacation within a vacation.

Coronado Springs is our favorite of all Disney's mod and deluxe resorts. We love the the 3 different themed areas, The Pepper Market, the landscaping, walking around the lake. The staff there is even better than the club level staffs at the GF, Poly, and YC. One example is last November it was raining and I asked a CM who was painting the best way to get to El Centro. He put down his paint brush and said "Come with me and I'll show you." We walked about 30 ft to his golf cart and he drove me! After that he refused a tip.
It is also the only mod with queen sized beds. My daughter and her friends LOVE the Dig Site area and pool. Truly there is not one thing we don't love about it.

POFQ is very romantic. It's small and very quiet. The bus service is great and the boat to DTD is wonderful too. The hot tub is very secluded. There's a carriage ride over at POR as well.

Wow, above and beyond the call of duty!!! Now I love CSR even more. Is also our favorite resort. :goodvibes

I think it speaks volumes that when you ask about a favorite resort on this board, you get EVERY resort back as an answer. It makes deciding where to book a real pain in the patootie, but I find it reassuring that any choice made will be a reasonably good one.

We loved both POFQ and CSR, for different reasons. I won't list them here because most has been covered in the previous posts. I agree with the #9 post that each of the mods seems to have many fans and the usual few who were not as happy. If it helps, we picked ours based on the photos on the Disney website, as well as by researching the other unofficial sites. I think if the photos appeal to you, you'll probably be happy with the in-person experience, too. With POFQ in particular, I thought the photos were nice, but the actual experience at the resort was even better than the photos.

When you're there, it's Disney World, so my family would probably be happy even if we were living in a tent city. At WDW, you can rest assured it would be a tent city like no other :lmao:.

I think your best bet is to pick the moderate on the theming you like the best. If you want a true CS, CSR does not have one. They have kind of an odd set up there. CSR also has queen beds and more of a corp. atmosphere. My personnal favorite is CBR-love the atmosphere and set up the best. Look at all the resorts on WDW site as well as here. Have fun!

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your experiences and love of Disney...and some dislikes or pointers to keep in mind. Still undecided, though! But I better make the ressie quick, as I hear they're going like hotcakes.

I go to WDW several times a year and usually stay in the moderates. In fact within the next seven months, I'll be staying in three of the four again. lol I've stayed in all four though and each have their pros and cons. I'd rate them:

#1. CSR
#2. POFQ
#3. PORS
#4. CBR

For a couple, I'd go with either CSR or POFQ.

It's too bad Disney can't build a moderate with all the good points of each resort (the wonderful bus service and the comfortable queen size beds of CSR, the better food courts of CSR and PORS, the health club/spa at CSR, the compactness of POFQ, and the boat to DTD that PORS and POFQ share).:rotfl:

CBR!!! Hands down. POR was okay but didn't have that extra magic CBR. My family stayed at CSR and I didn't like it at all. It seemed to lack a lot of the magic CBR had. Even POR had a cozier feel than CSR. POFQ seems small and lonely to me. When we stayed at POR we went over to get beinets and I didn't like it at all. BUT as you can see everyone has a different opinion. I've heard people say they had to walk to much at CBR and the buses were bad. Well at POR we walked MUCH MORE and the bus stops were so far away and we waited forever for everyone we took in a 10 day time period. So, it can be a different experience for everyone.

POR to me is great. Just got back from CBR. Was OK. I enjoyed Disney but I would not go to CBR again. Had the preferred room. The pool is its best part.
Why have a beach but can't go in the water? Very large. Not as beautiful as the pictures. But you will have fun at any of the resorts.

It is close between POR and CSR but I like CSR better. I don't mind the busy feeling (it is a convention resort) and think it is the best themed. I also like the Pepper Market so that helps edge it over POR.

you guys response to CSR makes me feel a bit better to having to changing to it from POFQ

I've only been to POR so I have no frame of reference, but I chose to go there again this time. I loved the theme, it was so quiet, the pool was just lovely, the food court was great, we loved Yeeha Bob, and Boatwright's was actually a really nice place to grab a late bite.

But then again, we experienced no known "issues" with the resort, such as full buses (never full), long walks (we were in building 18 of AB, very close to bus, pool and food court!), and small-ish rooms (there were only two adults and one child in our group).

We've stayed at the CBR many times (will again this coming Monday) and always liked it. Stayed at POR once ealier this year and it was nice, but we like CBR better. Have not stayed at CSR yet.
