What's your favorite breed of dog?

Hounds and hound mixes make the best pets. :goodvibes

Currently, I have a beagle and a mystery hound mix. We're not sure what kind of hound she is, but we think walker hound.

Since my parents and I both have a bichon I have to say bichon is my favorite breed of dog.

That's funny that a male was tempermental. My female is the "bratty" one and my males are easy-going. Other collie owners have told me they also noticed the females were brattier than the males.

I've had 2 female collies and 1 male and my male was the tempermental one. Both of my females were and are sweathearts with one exception, when they are in heat.

Thank you! And yours is adorable too!

Actually, everyone's pets are beautiful. I love seeing them all. paw:

My daughter has a GS that is 8 months old. In fact he looks about like the one you have. He's beautiful but he's a handfull. He loves everyone, thats the problem, he's around 75lbs now and always comes a running. We hope he settles some soon. She took him to class for awhile and it did help. Any helpfull hints you can give her? This is the first GS in the family.

German shorthair Pointers we have 2 Bailey is 12 1/2 & Dexter we just rescued this summer he is 1 1/2. Bailey is now deaf so he barks alot. Dexter has not barked once since we got him. They are just big playful babies. They have alot of energy.

Me, too. :goodvibes We rescued Clara last summer. I think our posts may have crossed paths previously. :)

I have owned a whole bunch of dogs covering many breeds, but I have never owned either of my two favorite breeds.... Bernese Mountain Dogs or Neapolitan Mastiffs.

What's your favorite breed of dogs, and did you actually own one?

BTW, growing up, or own my own, I have owned

1. Irish Setter
2. Boxer
3. Golden Retriever
4. Lab mixes
5. Mutt
6. Australian Shepperd
7. St. Bernard / German Shepperd mix

Bolded are my current dogs. Will NEVER own an Aussie again, even though he is pretty much a good dog.

I have had many breeds of dogs, now I have a Berner..they are the BEST dogs!! Mine is so sweet and loving. They love to be lazy, so she fits me just fine. Australian shepperds are cousins of Berners, a little smaller and shorter. no tail..Our friend has one, she is very sweet, too.

I LOVE BOSTONS!!!
This is our puppy Mason. And he is the most spoiled little dog around!

My parents own these guys, and I love them! If we were to get one, it would be a male since they tend to be the "lovers" in that breed. (Imagine getting a "hug" from a 110 lb dog. They like to lean up against your leg and wrap their near leg around yours.)

Not a great shot, but this is one of my parent's adults

My personal favorite is the Newfoundland.

Hey, my girl Stella is a lovey, too! She likes to bump up against you...Berners-Sweet, sweet sweet dogs.

We also have a Newf. (a Landseer) My DH thinks the sun rises and sets on that dog. I like him OK, but he does not endear himself to me. (I have to clean up after him and walk him..)He is messy, slobber and hair everywhere-on the walls, doors, ceiling..and I suspect (don't let my DH hear me say this) that he is not really very smart. JMO, maybe just our dog.. Oh yeah, did I mention that he lives IN the house...

We have the cutest little long haired miniature dachsund EVER! He is so sweet and very gentle natured with my children. I think that he has only barked like 4 times in his entire life LOL! He seems like such a lazy dog because he is always laying around trying to catch a nap but honestly I think that it is because the kids run him ragged! I thought that my miniature poodle was the best dog that we had ever had until we got Olliver. Miniature poodles are pretty awesome to though! So awesome in fact that someone stole ours a couple of years ago... That was pretty devastating. He was just the sweetest little thing. My DH bought us Olliver when we finally felt that we had mourned the loss of Tippy enough.... He was a great purchase!

My favourite is Boxers.

We have a 3 year old called 'Stamford' and he is so much fun.....full of personality! He is so loving and still thinks he is a puppy when he curls up on our laps to sleep!

I can't ever imagine having a different breed.

and I suspect (don't let my DH hear me say this) that he is not really very smart. JMO, maybe just our dog..

Actually, I think this is a selling point. (The dumb, not the slobber!). I've had smart dogs and dumb dogs. Give me a dumb dog any time. The smart ones are a pain.

Has anyone owned a Duck Trolling Retriver? There is one that is at the rescue we are applying with. They are the smallest among the retriever family. We had our heart set on a golden, but my hubby likes that these guys are a bit smaller with shorter (more lab like) hair. I am so dog obsessed! :rotfl: We are so ready. Our home inspection went well. Just waiting for the right fit.

I love so many breeds but Golden Retreivers are my favorite. They are just so gentle and so DUMB. Not really but...if you have ever known and loved one you understand. I have been loved by 2 of them.

My second is probably my Irish Setter. He is very smart but that makes him quite obstinate. We have to "convince" him he needs to obey commands. It takes quite a fight at times.

I love all the hunting breeds and most of the working breeds. I am afraid of shepards and rotties. I have just had scarey experiences myself, that's all.

I would like to enjoy the toy breeds but so many of them are tough little buggers...it's scarey when you are stared down by a 4 lb. furball. :lmao:

I love my 175lb English Mastiff. She looks almost identical to the male in the new movie Hotel for Dogs.

By the way, she is an indoor dog.

I love westies. They have such great personalities. I also like standard poodles. I grew up with 2 standard poodles and they are very smart and gorgeous. But, I do have to say that now westies are my favorites after having 2 of them.

I <3 Goldens more than any other dog.

But we may try a Bernie or a Newfie some day.

We love our Poodles - smart, athletic and clowns with fur, always trying to make you laugh. I know we will always have at least a couple of these dogs with us always.

In the past we've owned, besides the Poodles: an Irish Wolfhound, a Samoyed and we also currently own a Peke-a-Poo. I think we would probably have another Samoyed.

Dogs we haven't owned before but would like to:
*Bernese Mountain Dogs
*Setters (Irish, Gordon or English - doesn't matter)
*Golden Retrievers

I must say I have always had a soft spot for the American bulldog and boxer.
