Hello,
We're hoping to fly late next year, and have seen some pretty good things about SouthWest Airlines. What's your favorite airline company to travel with kids on? (Kids will be 10yo, 8yo, 17mo.)

SW does not give you the option of pre-selecting seats so IMO they're the worst with kids. Jet Blue has little TV monitors in all seatbacks which is awesome for ANYBODY but I find they're usually more $$$. We use Air Tran for the most part. Nothing special or extra-ordinary but usually reasonable $.

No - JetBlue BAD for kids. VERY bad. Stay away from JetBlue :umbrella:... unless you're traveling some time other than the last week of September/first week of October, or the middle of November, or the middle of December up to Christmas. Those other times - about 48 weeks, total - very GOOD for kids on JetBlue :rotfl2:

We have found the crews to be much friendly on SW than any other airline. Airtran is the worst. They would not let my 2 1/2 year old on the plane unless he held his own boarding pass. He was in a stroller, half asleep and miserable from a long week at Disney. He did not want to hold it....crying and screaming. This was at the gate, not going through security. I have never seen/heard anything so ridiculous in my life. We have flown many times on SW and I have always held both our boarding passes when we got on the plane. I try to avoid them now at all costs.

The one that gets me where I want to go on a non-stop flight---or, if that is not possible, on a direct flight where we don't have to get off the plane.

Edited to add: My kids have flown DL, NW, Spirit, and Frontier. If you ask them, they will tell you Frontier is their favorite, because each seat has its own TV.

My Grandchildren prefer JetBlue.

Most of the airlines we flew when my children were younger are no longer here.......however, we have flown Southwest on a fairly regular basis over the past 6+ years with our grandson who is now 8 and have had no issues whatsoever. Even though SW doesn't have assigned seats, they do offer family boarding to immediate families with children under age 4. However, they have recently begun a new program for early check-in which I am not very familiar with. What little I have read about it.......I don't like it. We always checked-in at the 24 hour mark and never had a problem getting seats together..........even on completely full flights. We are traveling in January with our grandson, however, this trip we are flying Airtran for the first time........so we'll see how Airtran compares with our previous experiences on SWA. We chose Airtran because they've recently begun flying from an airport (ABE.... which is an hour drive) which is closer to us than driving to PHL to fly with SWA

We flew Airtran the last two years to Disney & they never made our son, who is 4, hand them his boarding pass. You must have just got a grouchy, anal person that day. The pilot even talked to my son when we were boarding htis year. I have found Airtran to be very friendly.

That's just crazy!!

Our kids love JetBlue, with the TVs. There's good legroom and assigned seats. We try to always fly JetBlue.:thumbsup2

as unicle who tralves with kids go BLUE. jet blue has TV is the best thing sinc sliced bread . On a personal note non stop flight is the best regardless of the airlines .

Even though Southwest doesn't allow you to preselect seats, with little kids you'll board after the A's and before the B's. You'll get seats together without a problem.

We have flown many times with our children and we love both Airtran and Southwest. The Airtran pilots are so nice to little kids when you exit the plane and my DS even says thank you to them when he leaves. When we have been in the back of the plane, and last to get off, one pilot even let DS stop and look inside the cockpit from the outside. The pilot told him all about flying. DS was thrilled! Southwest FA's were awesome with babies and kept coming over to DD asking if there was anything we needed.

My kids will tell you hands-down, Jet Blue is the best. We flew on JetBlue from Seattle to Disneyland last march. They gave the kids as many snacks as they wanted and they loved the TVs. We're flying non-stop to Disneyworld this time so they will have to be happy with Alaska Air.
