What's Your Dream For Your Own Business?

I'd like to open a cookie bakery, called "The Cookie Jar" or something equally kitschy. I'd love to open it right across the street from the local high school. It would have little tables in it, and I'd also serve hot chocolate, coffee, etc.

I have A good friend that opened A place like that. But instead of by A school,he did it by the county courthouse sqaure. He is making money hand over fist withit..

I want to own a cupcake bakery! I'm not a great cook, but I make the BEST cupcakes and I would just love to own a little store! I'd specialize in cupcakes but sell other kinds of cake too, plus coffee. I'd have big comfy sofas so people could come and relax! I always thought maybe I'd do this if I came into a lot of money one day, so we'll have to wait and see!

Since you live in Winter Garden,

There was a cupcake bakery called Icings that opened up in that strip mall over on the strip of Winter Garden Vineland Road and 50. (There's a PUBLIX shopping center right next door)
They spent a ton of money sending out postcards offering free cupcakes at the Grand Opening. Less than 3 months later they were gone!

After I make my move to Florida next month I'm going to get started on my own business. I'm going to combine my travel agency work with RV rentals. I plan to specialize in providing camper rentals to people that want to camp at Ft. Wilderness.

Someday it would be fun to own a campground.

I would love to have a scrapbook store- I love it so much. The one by me does really good too.

for several years now, i have wanted to decorate cakes. however, as a former secretary for many years, i have raging carpal tunnel in both arms, so that could never happen. i have also always wanted to have a 50's style drive-in type restaurant and diner, like arnold's from happy days, but also with speakers and parking slots outside to order. the kids around here have NOWHERE to go on the weekends except to the local movie theater, so something like this could definitely take off.

I had my own business doing gift baskets for almost four years. I loved the actual creation process, but I lost money. After four years, my accountant told me to shut it down. Sad.

I'd like to have holiday store that sold holiday specific home decor.

I have my own cake business which I started a couple of years ago after receiving a large voluntary severance package from my former employer. I haven't looked back once!

right now im thinking about designing and manufacturing a range of dance apparel. it would only be a small range as i would be the only one sewing. i know that there is a niche for dancers with fuller figures. my sister is a dancer with a rather large chest and has troule finding leotards that look good on her and cover her bra. its a problem when it comes to exam time. so i might start working on that soon.

just a thought: my DD is 12 and does ballet, she is also somewhat developed for her age, and we got her lined leotards, so she doesn't need a bra. this likely would not work for your sister, depending on her age and chest size, but if you decide to start your business, this could be an option for the tween/less busty sizes.

My dad had a roofing buisness for 40yrs and the two things I learned from him is 1-I hate roofing and 2-just because you own your own buisness don't make you the boss. You still gotta answer to the customer..

As someone who has owned her own business for 16 years, I agree with this. :)

I opened my own salon at home 16 years ago. It took me 11 years working for someone else to be ready for such a thing. Glad I finally "lived the dream".

We sell a line proprietary products that my wife invented. It's all internet sales so we're free to sleep in, stay up late, and travel when we wish. I had corporate jobs until 2008 and I feel really lucky to have found her!

at the risk of sounding stupid, what exactly is a "proprietary product?"

I don't want to own my own business, but I would love to become an author and a teacher one day. I love my current profession (IT), but I just don't feel like I am contributing to society in a meaningful way...

I am living my dream also. I opened up a children's boutique at a local mall in October. I work a lot of hours but hope to hire soon.

I am making more than I thought I ever would. I truely enjoy what I do.

It'll never happen, but I love planning. I would love to have a travel planning business. More than a travel agency, but also vacation "consulting" like I do for free now. Itinerary planning, ect...Disney focused of course, but it would include other vacation destinations too. I know sooooooooooooooooo many people that don't want to be bothered with the details or doing the research. I'd do all that for them. Like creating very personalized Passporters.

that is a good idea. thanks :)
it definately wouldn't work for my sister, she's 21 and an E-cup i think. im thinking some heavy duty mesh might provide some added support.

good dream

My dream for a number of years was to be a professional face painter.
I started my business a year and half ago and it keeps picking up.
Still part time as far as number of hours go, but I am getting a lot of word of mouth referrals and people are starting to recognize me from some of the local festivals and such that I do.
I love it and can only see it continuing to grow.

I have also talked to my husband about opening up a bakery. His dream would be to own a campground.

I am also living my dream. I am self employed and own my own business. I provide techincal support to oil and gas companies here in Calgary. The hours are fab the money is great and I can finally go to Florida when I want to not when my boss approves my time off:thumbsup2
