what's wrong with the Pack N Plays?

I keep reading that everyone is renting cribs from ABBF - and I'm starting to wonder if I need to rent one?

I am travelling with my dd who is 14 months - we have requested a pack n play for our stay at Port Orleans. We have stayed at plenty of hotels where the hotel has supplied a pack n play and they have all been fine - are the Disney one's really that bad?

Seems like Disney is supposed to be a quality upmarket kind of place, so I find it hard to image they would supply an unacceptable crib, but maybe I am niave?

From my experience - not at all.

That being said, we always brought our own bed linens when our DDs were infants.

I think some babies just don't sleep as well in a pack and play. The Disney ones are fine, though. We've never used them (or rented a crib) since our little guy sleeps with us.

The pack n plays are just fine, nothing wrong with them. My DS used them at All Star Sports when he was 5mo. I did bring my own linens. All Star Movies when he was 14mo. BoardWalk when he was 2. I always bring my own linens.

One more vote for 'there's nothing wrong with them'. We've used them twice, once I used my own sheet, and the next time we used theirs (it seemed fine to me... plus it had disney characters on it). We always bring a blankey from home, though.

Another vote for the pack 'n plays being fine. DS never had a problem sleeping in them, but if we had gone when DD was in need of a crib, would have been a nightmare with a pack 'n play. She HATED them and wouldn't sleep in one. We rented full size cribs wherever we went with her, for that exact reason.

We opted not to use the pack n play on our visit last August because our then 5 month old would not sleep in one. This year, we are going in December and will have our second wee one with us at 6 months and are planning on using it as he doesn't seem to have the same problem as big brother. We will bring sheets and blankets from home tho.

We used one at WL last time we went and it was perfectly fine. It was a Graco and we never had any problems with it. DD was 2 1/2 and in a bed at home, but since we were in a standard room with 4 others, we needed to put her in the pack and play. She was so tired at the end of the day, I think she would've slept on the floor if we let her! I brought my own linens and also brought some Lysol disinfecting wipes to wipe it all down before I used it. (I'm a little germ-phobic :))

Same opinion here. My twin 15 month olds do not sleep in pack and plays at home, but on vacation they do. They put up a little fuss as first, but after the first night they understand. We've been two times since they were born (AKL and CR) and both times the pack and plays were fine. We brought our own sheets and a blanket for each baby from home. Not that we were expecting Disney's sheets to be dirty, but we just thought our babies would be more comfortable sleeping with familiar things.

Thanks everyone - we just got back from a week in Holland and my dd slept fine in the pack and play they provided (which is more than the rest of us - it was very hot and uncomfortable in the room but she didn't seem to notice, she just zonked right out).

I will just stick with the pack n play provided - that's more money for something fun instead.

Our DD loves the pack in play (graco) Our last trip to Vero Beach we had both the pack in play and rails for the bed (provided by the resort) and she insisted on pack in play. (she was 3 years old at this time.)

One thing is the pack in play is kind of noisy, it rustles when the kid moves around. We put down ther thick blanket under her and it was just fine.

We are doing constuction around the house (2nd floor) and she still insists on taking a nap in the finished basement in the pack in play some days. (it is nice and cool and less nosiey!)
