What's wrong with me?? (being jaded)

You also might find that, once you have kids, the magic will return. I had been to disney a handful of times as a child, teenager, and college student (I was right down the road in Gainesville). It was fun, but I wasn't obsessed, Disney-crazed, etc.

Fast forward a few years and the absolute magic, excitement, and thrill of experiencing Disney through the eyes of my children is an experience I can not even begin to describe. I have 4 kids, and each time we take one of them for that TRUE first trip (meaning they are 3 or 4 and actually GET it, not babies) it is like experiencing the magic for the first time.

I have one more time to experience that MAGIC- we have an 18 month old who has been, but has not been old enough to have her little world rocked the first time she sees Cinderella.

I imagine there will probably come a time when the magic has worn off for our family...but that's what the grandkids are for!

And yes, I do envy you a little- 30, no kids, living for yourself.....:)

I think everyone gets like this. I went 17 times then have not been back for 13 years because I just couldn't get excited about it.

We are going back again in the spring for the first time since 2002 as a family trip with my sisters family (7 adults). This time we are going to try things we never did before like staying in a moderate resort, shelling out a little extra cash for special events or restaurants and taking a day to just relax and see the area. I find my self now jump up and down excited every time I find something new. My sister and I have been texting like crazy planning this and having a great time doing it.

I get like this, I get Disney magic in waves, I was lucky to go several times as a kid, so I drifted away for a bit, and then around 2008 I got interest back, went on a trip with my girlfriends family, loved it, went again in 2009, after that I was content for a while. In 2012 I had another urge, so I went, and in 2013 I took several family members (big work bonus, my treat!) and it was a blast! Then I skipped 2013 and 2014 and this year, and now I'm booked for March 2016 with my (different) girlfriend, who hasn't been in 16 years. I realized that most of my excitement came from the times I was able to share the trip with someone and show them new things. I am sort of the Disney concierge in the family and among friends now, so it's really great to be able to help them plan their trips and sometimes join them! However, much like eating nothing but Dole Whips will turn your stomach, you have to mix it up a bit. The bonus to my intermittent visits is there is almost always a few new things for me to do each time to get excited about so it really isn't the same trip twice. I like to think that closures and removals of things, sad as they are, help keep me doing new things too...

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." --Walt Disney himself.

OP, I think what you mentioned about Epcot is pretty common. Frequent visitors get tired of the same 'ol rides and attractions, and instead gravitate to the one park that has the best food, and lots of shopping stops.

After our first visit, I never for the life of me could figure out why some people liked Epcot the most. :confused3:confused3 (they tended to be seasoned visitor). Now, I'm beginning to understand it a little more. It's gone from DEAD last to 3rd, and gaining on 2nd. Weird. :)

As long as there's Food&Wine as it now exists we'll probably be yearly visitors. Also, the planning is (almost) half the fun.

We suffer from the same thing . . . . . my fun factor is full!

I retired in 2014, and having visited WDW twice a year every year before that and after retirement I visited for many weeks at a time after the last time I felt as if I'd had enough. Nothing seemed to have changed. There were no new attractions as even 7DMT hadn't opened and all the money seemed to have been pumped into MDE and I wasn't a fan of FP+
So no trips for me since March 2014 and I didn't anticipate going again for a few years, and then suddenly I got the bug and realised that I was missing it, so I've arranged a trip for November specifically to see the Xmas decorations and attend the MVMCP.
I have purchased another annual pass hoping that after my next vacation I may feel re energised to go again.

I agree with post #21--sharing the magic with someone else who has never been is wonderful. Perhaps you could be a big brother to someone who doesn't have that opportunity?

Giving happiness to someone else can be as much or more rewarding than receiving it.

We lost the magic a few years ago and then POOF it returned. What changed? Was going to lose two years of DVC points so I invited a few friends (some with small children) at the very last minute and they said, 'yes'. More friends (30 - 55 years old) the next trip and going back for the first time in a year in over a decade just for the joy of bringing family.

Glad to see I'm not alone in this

It occurred to me that there's also something I would LOVE to do that I haven't done yet: California.
When I get the money to do so, I would LOVE to finally go to Disneyland's 2 parks and Universal Hollywood.
I lived in Cali as a kid for a few years, but I have no memory of my parents taking me to Disneyland.
It would be great to experience that and fully explore everything.

And with that said, there's still a bunch of stuff in ORLANDO i haven't done yet.

I have fond memories of going on Back to the Future like 6 times back to back one night close to park closing because the line was damn near empty. Did the same thing for Tower of Terror. Those were the days! Especially cool when the cast members let you skip the pre-show :D
Actually, the thought of trying that again sounds like fun.

I think Back to the Future is gone. But there's plenty of new attractions at the Universal Parks

Time to move on for a while (and I don't mean to Disneyland, CA). Take a break from the parks and travel, explore, try new things. Just in the US alone there is so much to see and do. Have you been sailing on Cape Cod? Hiking at the Grand Canyon? Parasailing in Key West? A Broadway show in NYC? Driving the Pacific Coast Highway in a convertible? Pulled an all nighter in Vegas? Been swimming in a waterfall in Hawaii?

Come back to the parks after a nice break and you will have a new appreciation for them.

Agree. My opinion is going to DisneyWorld alone sucks. I got burnt out on it in the 90s going alone. Now that I'm married we love it again.
