Whats Wrong with Disney?

Lets simmer down now. No one on here hates Disney. Lets be real. Why would someone waste their time on a board about something they hate. Its stupid and a lot more people on this board have lives I would think.

Exactly my point. Why would they?

What am I making up? Seriously...? Sorry if my anecdotal evidence lacked the proper citations....

Let it go...

Seriously...just let it go. You don't think anything is wrong with Disney correct? So why are YOU on this thread? Just let it go...

However, Disney needs to step it up. If I see the neighbor kid doing better than my kid, I'm gonna use the neighbor kid as an example to push my own kid. Competitiveness leads to innovation and improvement.

How do you breed competitiveness? By using comparisons that you are actually knowledgable about. If you never been to Universal, you can't have an opinion because it makes you look ignorant. Just say I never been to Universal so I don't know.

Disney and Universal are the same but different. They both are for families to create memories and experiences fun moments together. They go about it in different ways. Universal works more on appealing those who are buying the tickets to want to come to the parks while Disney appeals to those who are buying tickets for their little ones to come to the parks.

Oh but lets say your kid is Bill Gates...
The other kid is Steve Jobs...

Are you really worried about pushing your kid that much more because he comes up with 1 or 2 new ideas that happen to be great?

How about if your kid is Mark Zuckerberg and the other kid is Ben Silbermann (co-founder of Pintrest)?

Yes, you should strive for excellence in all you do and to be able to push yourself to be even better maybe learning from that neighbor kid. You can take things from other people and apply those lessons to yourself. If more people did that, a lot of things in life would run a lot smoother.

Wow! One leaves to go have an early lunch with a client and comes back and steps into that scene from Anchorman where all the news stations are fighting.

I guess it's time to pull out the faithful Trident.:lmao:

Back to the original question 900 pages ago - for me - Disney is just too much work now. Planning used to be part if the fun but now it just seems like a job. I don't want to decide months before I get there where I'm going to eat and what park I'm going to on which day and what time I want to ride a ride. I love going to Disney but right now it just doesn't seem to be worth all of the hassle to me.

Now on the other hand, I can go to Universal and it's like planning a Disney vacation the old way - just pick the days I want to go and go. Plus if I stay on-site I get the Express Pass. We just did this for the first time our last trip and it can't be beat.

So - will I NEVER go to Disney again - no. But until they have something new to make it worth taking on the JOB of planning a trip, I'll spend my VACATION time at Universal.

So your son just cured cancer.... why didn't he cure aids with it? Why is he failing?

Its pretty ridiculous to think one company is going to come out with every piece of great technology advancement. Right now Universal is investing and coming out with some great advancements which Disney will be able to "copy" and bring into an expansions it has in store around the world.

I remember when Disney used to the the one to innovate and others copied. Thanks for at least acknowledging that the roles have reversed.

Zing! Game, set match! Universal is better.

Are we done here yet?

I'm going to Disney again in April, but instaed of spending 5 days at the parks I'm spending 3 ( mainly beause of Flower and Garden) and then going to Universal for 2 days. I feel the same way you do, WDW is becoming a chore.
One poster commented that she had just returned from her trip and she noticed that most of the guests were really grumpy. Could it be related to the MDE? I think so. I get so frustrated when I have problems with my computer or smart phone, and now I have to use these same devices in the parks? I don't think that's fun at all.

Lets see....
Universal comes with a couple rides and Harry Potter....

I am going to Universal to see Harry Potter but its STILL NOT DISNEY.

Thats what the people who switched from Disney to Universal never understand. For some of us its not just about a ride...

Disney is like the Packers in Wisconsin. Could the Packers start losing more and not make the playoffs? Yes but its still the Packers and people will still love them and go to the games.

I am sorry but if you think a few new rides will make Universal better than Disney than fine but thats not the case with myself or a lot of people I know personally and through work who if they go one time to Orlando its for Disney.

Universal lovers on this board compare it to Disney but I will say this for the 10 millionth time that there is no comparison to even be had...

Well thats great your going to Universal????

With less days your likely feeling more of that strain of planning I would guess. With the 12 days we are going to be at Disney we are setting up a rough estimate of what parks we want to go to but will likely end up rearranging our plans and FP+ and ADRs once we get there.

Last summer I had 1 ADR for dinner each day over 8 days ended up keeping 1 ADR I had scheduled for the whole trip the rest just got the afternoon of. That was July 7-15 so not the slowest time of the year.

FP+ is new and likely you won't get the exact times you want but I would bet you can get most rides in if you rope drop (I don't do that) and pick FP+ the night before even... I think people try to over plan with Disney sometimes instead of just gathering the knowledge to take things as they come. Pick out your 3 rides you MUST DO and your 1 or 2 meals that you MUST DO and just get a rough estimate for the rest of it.

Few if any switched from Disney to Universal. I happen to enjoy both.

Unlike Disney, the Packers suck.

A few new rides at Universal doesn't make them better. No new rides at Disney makes them worse.

10 million? No comparison to be had? Both parts of that statement are equally ridiculous and about equal in terms of exaggeration.

How could any one person notice that MOST WDW guests are really grumpy, and then if they do notice, understand exactly why they are grumpy?

I was there not long ago and some people were grumpy, but it was hot and it rained and we had to wait outside for stuff. Some people were not grumpy. Some were having fun.

I keep seeing that there are "no new rides" at Disney World. That's not true. They just opened a ride last month. It's just not the type of ride that a lot of these posters wanted to see. So it doesn't count.

Really? I know for a fact that the second one in this line was grumpy.

Am I the only one who doesn't see what the big deal is about some people liking Universal AND Disney or liking some aspects of Universal better than Disney at the moment or what have you?

Seriously, they are theme parks. There is no rule that you must only love one.

I grew up going to Disney and I will always love Disney but there is no way in heck I am not going to Universal and experiencing the amazingness that is Harry Potter out of some convoluted sense of loyalty or something. I just don't get it.

And yes, there are things that Universal is doing better than Disney right now. There is no foul in saying it just as there is no foul in saying that Disney does some things better than Universal.

I guess I just don't see the big deal.:confused3

I am thinking it is because they want to see Disney doing the same kinds of things that Universal is doing. That Universal is somehow "trying harder."

They have to try harder, they're #2.

But the common assumption is that someday Universal will completely steal Disney's thunder in Orlando if the WDW is seen to keep going the way they are going and not be seen as dedicated to continually "improving" on their parks (for many, that means building new attractions that are not considered solely geared to guests under 10 years old). But it might be more accurate to say "Disney isn't doing things that I find interesting and Universal is" rather than "Disney is doing nothing." Because they aren't doing nothing.
