Whats Wrong with Disney?

Some people lose sight of the fact that this is a planning board, not a fan board. It loses all effectiveness when it's dominated by people reluctant to apply critical thinking to a WDW trip.

Exactly. Agree 100%.

It also loses its effectiveness when people who aren't planning a trip to Disney and aren't attempting to be helpful are antagonistic to those who are.

Example: I read the "EMH hours changing" thread. Disney's EMH. Why did I read it? I'm going to WDW in December, so this affects my plans. What did I read within seconds of that thread starting? Usual Disney hate and Universal love. It doesn't take but 10 posts for someone to start with the "That's it, I'm never going back to Disney...I'm going to Universal instead." And then the usual comments from people who were never planning a trip to Disney, are not affected by the change, and are just there to gleefully watch the carnage.

On a website called DISBoards?!? Whaaaaaaaat?! You're telling me that there are people on here who identify strongly with Disney and don't come to this site to be constantly bombarded with condescending arguments about why Disney sucks?

I...just....don't....understand
Bombarded? I did a quick check. Over the past few days, you've posted in this thread about 35 times. Your posts in ALL other threads combined is under 10. There are 358,112 threads on this single forum alone, yet you spend nearly all your time on the one with the title "What's wrong with Disney" , create this post complaining that people don't come here to be constantly bombarded with comments about why Disney sucks and then say you don't understand? In your case you're doing it to yourself.

Why is it that you you can ignore the Universal parks and pretend that everything is just shiny and perfect over at Disney, but here you can't even ignore a single thread that you know up front contains posts that you don't want to be bombarded with??? I think you just like to argue.

What does FP+ sucks posts have to do with planning?
What does Universal does this or that have to do with planning?
What does Avatar sucks and HP rules have to do with planning?
What does the Yeti is broke have to do with planning?
What does EMH changed from 3 hours to 2 hours a couple years back have to do with planning?
What does.....

And on and on and on and on....

I don't care how many OT threads are tolerated by the moderators, I'll even participate them. My point is that some of you expect the members here to treat WDW the way sports fans on a team message board would treat the team and you get indignant when we don't, and I believe you are misguided in such expectations.

Therefore, I wouldn't bother engaging in a back and forth. Just ignore the hate (and sadly, most of the threads on Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies forum from now on. It has been hijacked by Disney-haters for at least the last year, regardless of what they call themselves. If you like the excitement of the back and forth, by all means continue.)

Why don't you report this thread to the moderators/owner then? What is the point of saying this over and over on here? If the thread is on here, it's on here and that means a moderator is allowing it. There are no rules as to what should or shouldn't be on here further than what the owner and hence the moderators allow. They can do whatever they want.

And why don't you just ignore it? There are a lot of threads I don't think belong on here. And furthermore, a lot of sub-forums that I don't think belong on here. But I don't own these boards, therefore, I just don't read what I don't want to read.

Great points. This thread would be easy to avoid. Maybe not the thread about EMH changing but this one for sure.

Some people lose sight of the fact that this is a planning board, not a fan board. It loses all effectiveness when it's dominated by people reluctant to apply critical thinking to a WDW trip.
Personally, I would not look at a thread entitled " What's wrong with Disney" for trip planning advice.
Also, if people don't like this discussion thread, why don't they leave? I don't quite understand the hostility it's really childish.

I don't understand why you bother reading and participating in this thread since it is so reprehensible to you. I'm sure there are other discussion threads that share your views.

I appreciate your concern.

We have maybe 30 unique users posting on this thread and 483,000+ members on the DIS. I am not posting here because I need to convince myself of anything; I can't plan WDW fast enough. Besides, my feelings aren't going to get hurt.
I post because there are people who come to these boards to seek advice and ideas about Disney trips or just want to talk Disney because they like it. I'd say most of the members of the DIS are not complainers, haters, etc... They probably came here for the same reasons as I did: To learn more and talk more about Disney.

Along the way, I became annoyed at the unrelenting surge of Anti-Disney arguments. They aren't trying to be helpful to anyone. They are just trying to antagonize, or "show" Disney up, or be generally negative.

I'm not saying that people can't be frustrated or vent. But when your overall contribution is negative toward Disney on a Disney planning thread?

Anyway, I don't want actual Disney fans or planners to come to this site and think that either all Disney fans now hate Disney or that all we do is sit around and complain.

He was not the one reminding us that this is a planning board not a fan board.

Can you use some of that critical thinking you mention to tell us how this relates to planning?

Read my reply to Seth.

Read my reply to Seth.

I did read that and still did not you see you use your celebrated critical thinking skills to tell us how this relates to a planning board right after you reminded all of us simpletons how it is a planning board.

First of all, notice that my other posts don't reflect necessarily threads that I have read. I have read ALL the DVC-Aulani posts because...wait for it...I'm going to Aulani in less than a week.
Secondly, a response I just gave a minute ago explains why I am on this thread.

Were you another poster in the past? You don't come across as a fairly new poster at all. We've had some people who like to pick fights so I wonder....

However that is way off topic just like most of the recent posts. I wish that some of you could step back and see how again BOTH sides are antagonizing the other.

I looked at that EMH changing thread...I think she was imagining things as her claim of...
Example: I read the "EMH hours changing" thread. Disney's EMH. Why did I read it? I'm going to WDW in December, so this affects my plans. What did I read within seconds of that thread starting? ...doesn't even exist. Heck, she was the first one to even mention Universal in a slightly sarcastic manner. I believe this is the thread...

Wow, that is cool! I would love to go to Hawaii someday and I hope that you have a great time.

And here comes my FAVORITE answer to my ongoing "Why must Universal be brought up in every negative thread about Disney?" Because the moderators allow it

No one ever said it was a violation of forum rules!!! STILL no one has said that. What we ARE saying is that it is in poor taste in the way some users do this compulsively.

Great points. This thread would be easy to avoid. Maybe not the thread about EMH changing but this one for sure.

Surferdave commented that certain people that are Disney fans lack critical thinking skills, dont know what is best for them vs best for Disney, and reminded us all that this is a planning board. I am just asking for clarification from him since I lack all thinking on my own.

Yes, you're here because even though Disney is doing absolutely fine, they need you to defend them on a message forum. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

And there it is, folks. Thank you, DisUniversal for saying it so succinctly.

We aren't pretending. And we shouldn't be accused of pretending ON A DISNEY PLANNING SITE. And we shouldn't be spoken to condescendingly for liking Disney despite a handful of users' attempts at revealing how awful DisneyWorld really is.

We aren't ignoring Universal parks. We just don't care about Universal parks as a argument in a Disney planning site. I frankly hope and wish Universal quite well. As I do Busch Gardens. And Cedar Point. And Disneyland. And wherever else. Just don't want to discuss any of these places when I come to Disboards.

The thread is titled, "What is Wrong with Disney?"
I'd be happy to engage in that back and forth, if done respectfully, between people who feel the magic is gone and people who don't. But what does Universal have to do with it? (I realize the OP made the first and original reference, and kudos for the lengthy thread btw. It had all the makings of a great one: Disney bashing and immediate Universal superiority.
