What's with this Facebook / Twitter banner ad?

If you are using the Firefox browser, I highly recommend the "AdBlock" plugin... I blocked all 4 annoying images and poof, things are back to 'normal'.

I really don't need to be bludgeoned with all of the Dis ads.

It's new. Popped up sometime after my morning rounds. Yeah, yeah, I get it. Facebook, Twitter, blog, radio. Now let me read the DIS in peace. :sad2:

I thought you only got middle-page ads when you weren't signed in or weren't a member. Now everyone needs to look at this junk?

DH isn't crazy about me installing any ad blocker software until he looks at it.

they aren't even paid ads. They are ads for other DIS services. Their Facebook and Twitter accounts, DisRadio and DisUnplugged.

Surely there is better placement for these services.

You're welcome..

Just want to clarify for the OP of this thread - I did not use the "report this thread" button.. I went to the bottom of the CB where it says "DIS Moderator Team, clicked on that, and it brought me to some odd looking page where I could post the message.. LOL :rotfl: I believe you can read what I said in my message as there are the full messages that other people have sent available for everyone to read.. (Had to post it twice - didn't want to go through the first time - just kept spinning and spinning..)

Isn't it odd that you can read what other people have sent the Mods? :confused3 Doesn't bother me because this is the only time I have ever used it, but wouldn't you assume it would be "private"??

Anyhow - it's done.. Hopefully they can speak to whoever controls that aspect of the DIS and have the banners removed..:goodvibes
Last I knew, the team did not accept PM's, so I guess you can only contact it through the public channel.

hah - don't expect the "middle-of-the-thread" ads to go anywhere. Obviously, not enough DISers became sponsors, so they had to go to other paid sponsors. (If I had paid to be a sponsor, & I still saw that in every thread, I'd be ticked!)
Sponsors see the ads too. :badpc: They are pretty nasty.

Here also on the tech board.....

I'm bumping this so it doesn't get lost in the MJ threads.

I can't make it go away with the unplugged thingie, either.

I also find it totally annoying - and I don't want to change my settings to get rid of it. I leave mine on default because it's easy on the eyes and non-distracting ... unlike ad banners after the first post on each page. :rolleyes1

Just individually blocked each of the four images with ABP (Firefox Addon)

All I have now is a gray bar.

Well, they are already at the top AND bottom of the page, so they must have thought the middle was a good option, too.

Get rid of it, or I'll be installing an ad blocker.

That doesn't really send a message to anyone, that's just how you put a message on someone's profile.

If you want to send a message to the webmasters about this, you need to email it to admin@wdwinfo.com.

I'm sorry that so many people dislike the banner. I really don't mind it. It was wierd for the first couple of posts, then I figured it out and remembered it would be there. I appreciate the DIS boards and support the owners in making money so they can stay open

Its banners for their own website. Is it really making them money?

I sent this thread via the email provided. Thanks.

I finally got it to go away with the ugly dis unplugged skin..

ITA...it stinks, I also would like it moved.. It is annoying to read!

Thanks for telling me about the disunplugged skin!! Not crazy about the orange and purple, but its better than the ads!!

I was on the phone with my mom the other night and we were both on the DIS. She was pointing me to a thread over on the Adventures by Disney board. She kept talking about a particular China trip thread with multiple days worth of trip reports by the poster - all in the same thread. I kept telling her that no one had replied to the thread, and that she'd only written one day's worth of report :confused3 .

After probably 2 minutes of confusion and searching on both our parts, I finally happened to go back to that thread, scroll down past those ads, and see what she was talking about. The thread really did have more posts - I just thought the ads were the bottom of it.

Yeah - it is minor in the grand scheme of things, but it is definitely annoying. I'd rather them be just above the first post or something, if they're going to be there at all. And I also find it annoying that the DISunplugged skin doesn't have to have the ads, too. I just found the Universal one for the first time, and I really like the lime green and blue in it :thumbsup2. But of course, it has the ads.

Easy people. The default footer template got placed in the wrong location. It's all gone now. :thumbsup2
