What's with the super-cheap brand of tissues at the resorts?

I could not believe the scratchy off-brand facial tissues that they provide at the resorts. Everything at YC and CR seemed "deluxe"...except for the tissues. If you have a cold, BRING YOUR OWN! Your nose will thank you.

I learned that the hard way last year! On my trip in January I brought my own kleenex and toilet paper to use. The stuff Disney uses is just to rough for me.

I actually used the TP to blow my nose, as it was much softer than the facial tissue.

I completely argee!! Especially about the TP. I've been thinking about packing a few rolls and a box of kleenex.

It doesn't seem right that any hotel room above about $50 a night would go cheap on something like tissue. :sad2:

Why not bring your own TT? No-one ever claimed to go to the resorts because of the TT and I'm sure no-one will not go because of the TT! ;)

They buy those cheap tissues to offset the loss of revenue from the refillable mug abuse, :rotfl2:

Sorry guys I just could not resist. ;)

This has LOOONG been a contention of mine! After receiving a few "splinters" in the tushie from the SAWDUST/CORNHUSK TP :rotfl: used at the WDW resorts (Just one look--and you can clearly SEE the WOOD FIBERS)...I resorted to bringing/purchasing my own brand (Charmin! :cloud9: ).

The same goes for the facial tissues. Unless you are seeking a radical treatment of DERMABRASION in an attempt to remove a couple layers of epidermis...I would urge everyone to bring/buy your own!! They are more than HARSH...and a napkin from one of the restaurants would prove softer! :rotfl2:

I believe the Dolphin uses ANGEL SOFT brand for the tissue and toilet paper, which works wonderfully in both cases. Why DISNEY opts for the PRISON BRAND is beyond me?!? Especially with the prices they charge for the rooms. This is a VERY VALID point, and should be mentioned on the customer service forms they leave in the rooms!! Maybe if enough of us complained...they would change the brand. :confused3

Thanks for the reminder...I'll add this to my list for next week!!

:rotfl2: what a great description of the paper products offered at the hotels! I'm in stiches over here :)

I heard they only planned to put them in the common areas of the deluxes to discourage pool hopping. Is it somehow getting in the rooms too? :rotfl:

It's not just the facial tissues and t.p. The pillows are hard foam, you have to requst feather and then they are just that -- feather, no down. I bring my own pillow, but somehow having to tote my own facial tissues and t.p. to a deluxe resort I'm paying $400 a night for seems really ridiculous.

And, the "toiletries" are a joke. I wouldn't wash my dog with the shampoo!

A "deluxe" Disney resort would not qualify as deluxe anywhere but at Disney! Disney gets away with it due to "location, location, location"!

I agree and disagree. Disney scored points with me when they added fridges and coffee makers to each room. I thought the room at YC was appointed and designed in a "deluxe" way (e.g. a light with a dimmer above each side of both beds, a chest of drawers for clothes, etc.) but I thought the room at the CR was not (but of course, it will be after renovations). You can get towels at the pools, which is a "deluxe" feature, and most pools at other (non-Disney) resorts don't have slides.

But you're right about the toiletries and paper products. I have seen Neutrogena and "spa brand" toiletries at hotels that I've paid a lot less for.

Aye, there's the rub. :teeth: ;)

These too...are very effective methods of "removing" layers of skin/epidermis (if desired)! Why schedule a spa treatmentm wheh you can merely roll the "white mystery bar:" over your skin and watch the years of wear/tear just peel~away?!? Of course, you may also watch the rash develop...and/or the redness rush across your face as well! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

The last time I stayed in the YC CL, I brought my own TP/FT and all other bathroom amenities! I carried these in a CLEAR plastic bag, and plopped them up on the counter at check-in. The CM appeared startled, and immediately inquired? I explained the reasoning behind the purchases, and asked her if she used the DISNEY BRAND at home? She looked around, and leaned forward to whisper---"of all the things which are coveted by CM's, and/or pilfered or reflected in the shrinkage/employee theft division...the TOILETRIES are at the BOTTOM of the LIST!" We both had a good laugh, and she upgraded us to a SUITE (probably out of pity, LOL)! I can attest, other guests looked at the items as well, and probably wondered WHY we are toting all this stuff around a nice resort, like the YC?

As for the FOAM PILLOWS? They are direct descendents of FRED FLINSTONE and the BEDROCK ERA!!!! :earseek: Like sleeping on a ROCK! The feather are not much better. Therefore, I always ship some premium DOWN pillows to meet us in Florida. Otherwise, I would NEVER sleep!! I'm not the "princess and the pea" type...but pretty close. If something is "off" with regards to bedding, pillows, etc.--- I can NOT rest. DH is the opposite, and can sleep on the floor if necessary!! I admire that quality, but have no desire to acquire it in this lifetime.

OMG !!!! Just the other nite my DH was joking... he said for the price you pay for a room at WDW that they better have darn good TP.......I am going to have to stop on the way now and get some Charmin. :rotfl2:

We leave in the mornin......and when we get there....all I'm goin to hear is I told you so..... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thank goodness I am bringing my own shampoo and body wash...... :rolleyes1

Actually I didn't think the TP was bad. But the off brand facial tissue was unbelievable. It's funny. When we went to Paris, we rented a 2 bedroom flat, and I brought my own tissues and never needed them. But in a deluxe resort at WDW I wished I've brought my own.

I'm glad I found this thread! My DB and I will be staying at the CR on our next trip, so I'll make sure we take some TP and tissues with us (and possibly our own pillows). As for the other toiletries, I'm allergic to certain bath products, so I always take my own when I go on vacation.
