What's With The Recent Popularity For Rick Astley?

I don't really know much about this guy, other than he was famous for the song "Never Gonna Give You Up" from back in the 80's(?)

Apparently he's all over the place on YouTube. You're sitting there watching a video, and it turns into the music video from his song. It happened to me *again* today while watching a trailer for the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street remake.

What's up with this guy, and why is he so popular all of a sudden? Very annoying.

It's actually a pretty old joke that was funny at the beginning and is now pretty played out.

It's kind of embarassing that people are still doing it!

I figured it was some sort of gag after reading how people responded to the video. Maybe my sense of humor has gone rusty, but I couldn't find the comedy in that. :sad2:

best was when the cartoon channel rick rolled the macys thanksgiving day parade:rotfl:

I shop at zappos.com pretty frequently (more than I should probably admit :rolleyes1 ) and at the bottom of their site, there's a bunch of links like customer service, my account, etc... well there's also a link that says "don't ever click here". So, yesterday, curiosity got the best of me.. I clicked. and I got Rick Roll'd by Zappos.

But why did they pick Rick Astley of all people? It's gotten annoying. The Kanye West/Tyler Swift videos are bad about this on YouTube also. Maybe I'm too old to find the funny in all this.
