What's with the Jesus skywriting?

No, I saw that and read it! And it made me think about Christianity's focus. I believe it is in the here and now and on becoming Christlike and loving others while having assurance of Heaven when we die.

Yeah, think for the majority of people heaven is the icing on the cake,and I didn't want it to look like all people cared about was the icing.

In thinking about it the icing on the cake analogy is probably not the best oneI If we are honest the icing IS the best thing on the cake..In fact ,I don't even want a cake unless it has copious amounts of icing on it.
In fact , you can just give me the icing and a big spoon and we're good.

So, as Christians, we listen to the word of Jesus because he came to spread a message of peace & tolerence. And he openly stated many things that conflicted with the OT...already used the example of eye for an eye vs. turn the other cheek. Think of the NT as the very reason why God sent Jesus, to set the record straight.

Human understanding of God was following the wrong path. It's not an understanding that came from God, but from man - In my opinion.

God is a gentle God. Probably saddened by the violence and misrepresentation. So, as I already said, Jesus (I believe) was sent to correct the vision. I like your bandaid analogy. Man made a big boo boo, and God sent Jesus to heal it.

Just for the record...........the skywriter was there at EPCOT yesterday and although it's nice that they want to spread the word.........I just think the money and time being spent doing this for months on end could be used to help others out and not wasted on alot of people who really don't care (that is not me) but there were others at the park that were making comments about it yesterday.

I'm fine with Night of Joy. Disney is open to a variety of events for many different causes and groups. However, those who are non-Christian can easily choose not to attend and therefore not be exposed to the religious element of NoJ. It's a little harder to avoid giant words in the sky.

The mention of Jesus' name was offensive and abrasive 2000 years ago, so much He was killed! Nothing new! His name will always divide, it is like a double edged sword and here is the proof! One side is right, one is wrong!

Oy vey! 831 posts. I don't think anyone's posting on this thread is going to stop the skywriter. He is fulfilling what he thinks is his part of the great comission. My opinion is to contact the sky writer directly (there is an email, phone number, etc.) on his webpage. Like it or not, this guy is effective in delivering his message. While some like it, and it irritates others, the point is, people are thinking about the message. Heck, while I was at Epcot on Friday night, I heard someone talking about the writing they saw. Last night at MK someone else was talking about it.

We just got back from our trip and we "saw" the famous Jesus skywriter. My kids thought it was way cool and after this long thread about about it it was almost like a celebrity sighting
