What's with the Jesus skywriting?

When you post stuff like this: no radiation is required. It's quite clear that you aren't trying to share the good word, but that you are only trying to make other people "gag". :sad2:

And you know it, too. Otherwise you would have answered me when I questioned your comments earlier in this thread.

I am sorry, I must have missed your earlier comments, not trying to make others gag, just know it does by how they post. I know Jesus is an abrasive subject. He knew He was. Again I am not trying to irritate. How you receive what I say is your own responsibility.

Not that this comes as a huge surprise, but I wouldn't be thrilled to see it. I don't go to church or turn to jesus for a reason, a personal reason. I don't need people in the sky telling me to turn to jesus. I have a mind and I'm able to use it freely, if for any reason I decided to turn to jesus it would be on my own and not at the prompting of a bible thumper in a plane.

That is why I share. I am not ashamed of being a fanatic. There are lots of Disney fans, Sports fans, Rock Star fans, whatever...I LOVE JESUS!

On his old (some might say ancient) TV show "You bet your life", Groucho Marx was interviewing a family with 17 kids. Groucho asked the parents why they decided to have so many kids, and the father put his arm around his wife and declared to a national TV audience "Groucho, I love my wife!"

Without hesitation, Groucho responded "Well, I love my cigar too, but I put it away once in awhile."

Groucho was a much smarter man than he usually gets credit for.

I was also raised a Christian and was one for the first 20 years of my life.

We can be raised in a home that has certain beliefs but becoming a Christian is not inherited. It is every person for themselves. Each one has to accept or reject that Jesus loved them so much, He chose to die a humiliating death, just to restore their relationship with God, His Father.

Another former Christian here.

While it wasn't the only reason, one of the reasons I am a former Christian can be seen here from the people who continue to post their rude comments after they were told they were rude and unwelcome.

Joyce, I applaud your courage. Keep strong and follow what God would have you do. Just remember John 15:18-25:

18"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin,[c] but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23Whoever hates me hates my Father also. 24If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. 25But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: 'They hated me without a cause.'

Jesus is not abrasive.
They way you're hustling him is.

I thought we were suposed to come to Jesus - find him in our own way.
Not get pushed into him.

What about the ones who have said "good job" and "thanks" do they not count, because a few do not want it? Why are we rude because we do not agree with you? Why are you not the rude one?

But are you sure you don't want to try my restaurant? I promise it will be your best restaurant experience ever!
I love my restaurant! And my restaurant loves you- and will wait for you to come and experience its wonderful cuisine!
My restaurant was built for your dining pleasure- why can't you see that! I love my restaurant!
The Bill of Rights guarantees all Americans Freedom of Dining! See Zagat p 54, paragraph 3 for proof on how wonderful my restaurant is!
85% of Americans have gone to my restaurant at least once, that should tell you how great it is!

I and probably many others find most of your comments that you make on all the religion threads rude and unwelcome. Does this mean that you will stop making them? Does this mean that you should stop making them? Now that I have told you this will you change the way you post?

No hustling here, just telling you how I feel! You are not being made to read this. You are reading this of your own free will. Jesus Himself said He came and the world despised Him. He knew he was abrasive. He is love, and patient and kind but He knew He would not be accepted with open arms.

What makes you think we don't know about Jesus? I was a Christian for 30 years..Many of us were raised as Christians.

I meant that for those who may have questions about Jesus but dont want to ask them here, for obvious reasons.

Just because you were a Christian and were taught about Jesus doesnt mean that you knew Jesus. There is such a big difference between knowing about Him and knowing Him.Just like having Christian parents who take you to church doesnt make you a Christian.

Mark 8:38
"If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."

Luke 9:26
"If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels."

2 Timothy 1:8-9
So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.

None of those say, "go forth and pester people even if they don't want to hear it" just not to be ashamed to testify. Back in the early days of Christianity, things were really tough for the believers. It's not the same any more, and you don't have to hide your church locations for fear of Romans coming to take you away. The word doesn't need to be spread in the USA.

I was raised Catholic, and was very active in the Church, up to my entrance into college. My beliefs simply changed in such a way that I'm no longer Christian. Being raised Catholic, I was not exposed to the idea that I needed to proselytize to other people that I knew. International mission work is another thing, but in this country, it honestly seems weird.

God doesn't want puppets, He wants us to choose to love Him.

Stop ignoring the Old Testament.

You miss (as most members of that branch of Abrahamism do) why many find the story of Jesus ... unmoving.

Let's run down the story without the ... argumentative aspects to make it clearer, as a story:

-----------------------------------------------
A certain god/deity is omnipotent-- he controls the Whole Universe and can do absolutely anything he wants (even drowning and killing babies and children to get his will done, but let's leave that aspect alone for now).

So he sends down his son/scion/emissary (who also has magic powers and who even knows the Future) to Earth, where said being, in human form, is tortured and killed by the people in power... much like thousands of regular humans have been tortured and killed throughout history (Saddam's Iraq, Nazi Germany, Inquisition, Crusades, Caligula's Rome).

But the torture of the magic being is honestly not as bad as that suffered by most of the regular humans tortured throughout history, because the magic being knows the future, and thus knows that within days he will be back on Earth and then with his All-powerful Dad/Creator in (place of all-happiness--Heaven/Valhalla/Hogwart's, etc.), and he will still have all his magic powers, ruling the Universe with his dad, and can come back to Earth at any time he desires... and supposedly will, to kill millions of non-believers.
----------------------------------------------------

If the son/scion/emissary wanted to make a real point, he would have died and gone to Place-of-suffering (Hell/Hades/DMV)... forever.
Now THAT would have been a powerful story of sacrifice.

How dare you put their quotes in context.

Is the OP still around? Maybe he/she could change the title.

"Come and Witness to the Choir" would be a good fit at this point.
