btw, it is "could have stopped" and "would have gone"...

BurkeTribe said:You might want to read up a little bit on the complete story about "Mother Theresa" (Teresa) before using her as an exemplar... not quite the angel the media played her up to be. More like a money making machine for the Catholic Church. Hundreds of million$ in donations, very very little spent on medicines to relieve pain.

Don't try to confuse hateful bashing with truth,Zippa D Doodah said:I read your link. It has no merit. Hateful bashing of dead people who gave up everything to love and serve others is despicable.

BurkeTribe said:It has much verified testimonial and archival merit. It is likely the truth of the matter.
Waiting for your evidence otherwise.
cardaway said:Same here. Couldn't possibly have just been a well veiled attack rather than a statement based on fact could it?
BurkeTribe said:Not sure what your "it" is referring to, but if you are talking about the article... correct, it couldn't be a "veiled attack"... because it is backed up by testimonies and video evidence. Nothing is veiled. The public record is there. Video of her Calcutta "home for dying destitutes" is readily available... here is a clip from Penn and Teller's show... ( be warned -NSFW)

I really think it depends on how you look at her..I believe she had good intentions..However,her refusal to allow birth control to be used caused thousand of babies to be born into poverty and starvation...To some she is a hero,a saint..To others,well..She's just notZippa D Doodah said:Do you suppose the Nobel Peace Prize folks did any investigation? Maybe Encyclopedia Brittanica is biased too. There are some personal testimonies from people in that list too. I dunno... maybe none of it counts for you.

Personally, to me it comes down to whether she and her order really did and do let destitute people dying in abject pain do so with nothing more than an aspirin. It seems from my research that this is so, unfortunately.
