I'm pretty sure my comment was not the context that cardaway was referring to and neither was Jenny's reference to her roomate. You're spouting about alternative lifestyles. My comment was that there is no alternative lifestyle - I know these people well enough to say their lifestyle is no different than mine.

IF you want to say gays are discriminated, you may as well say everyone is. I have been discriminated against before, thats just part of life. But thats not saying that I or they don't have equal rights. No public law has taken away their rights. Individuals may discriminate on a personal level, but they can't take away their "rights." You realize that there is no federal law to prevent gay people from being fired from their jobs ,right? Minorities have the protection from that,as do religions, the disabled etc,but not gay people..You can be fired in this country simply for being gay.. Someone can refuse to hire you just because you are gay.

You do realize that a gay spouse has no say in medical treatment for his/her incapacitated spouse, right? If I'm dying and consent is needed for a procedure, my husband provides that. Gays are not afforded that same right.

Are you kidding? There are still laws, as we speak, on the books in many states that say Gays can legally be denied housing and employment (just to name a few) because of their sexual orientation. I don't have a list but I'm pretty darn sure someone here will produce one.
