I've only been playing VMK for a few days, after having been away for quite a while, and I've noticed the Ghosts in the Mansion sometimes take quite a long time to appear. A lot longer than they used to. Just last night, I think I waited more than 5 minutes for Gus to show up so I could collect the credits.
Did VMK change how they appear? It seems to me you never had to wait more than 30 seconds/1 minute, for them, in the past.

Just curious, how long have you been away? Since before VMK changed how they load the game (blue spinny people). I know for me, that ever since this change, I cannot have too many other applications open. If I do, the Mansion Room takes forever to load and sometimes I get bounced to the lobby. Also for me, IE does not work so I use Firefox. Hope that helps some.:goodvibes

The spinny blue people is new to me. I started pretty much after VMK went live, and played pretty regularly through 2006 (I think). I had managed to accumulate a bunch of things, like Snowman Magic, Invisibility and Bat Magic. Both sets of hidden Mickey pins. I played the old Pirates game and got all 3 medals. I even got a free pin at Christmas, what ever year that was. I had done the quests for Deep Sea Magic, and the drivers license, then I kind of lost interest.
I know I was away for more than 6 months, because when I finally signed back on, I had lost all my stuff. Somehow, I had managed to retain my credits, but even after writing the admins, I didn't get the stuff back.

I've been playing now for about 2 weeks, and trying to get back swing of things. I think I saw the new Pirates game before I left, but Fireworks is new.

I don't use Firefox, and I don't have any problems with the loading, but I have noticed it seems longer to get into rooms.

There are varied opinions on the ghosts in the Mansion (NPC's) some think they are atracted to movement some think they are on a timer and others think they have a thing for Baked goods and the sorts. while we wish they were more consistant and really wish they were just there when we entered the room, we have to settle for it being a combination of these things.

They are on a timer - some what random but none the less. If nobody does anything they will come out. When you are in the room they are basicly reading the mansion game instructions - which state they are atracted to movement. Generally movement to get them to come out will do little. I have however discovered if you move and click exactly in the area the ghost is currently invisible they will be forced to come out. This is hand if you walk in and they leave right then before you catch them. One thing to be aware of with this, they are prone to moving while invisible so they are tricky to find at times.

You can catch them when they're invisible? I'll have to try that, next time.

No, but if you find them when they are invisible they will appear and you may then get them. I did this for about a half hour one day to test this deiscovery. Then they go invisible and run away where you don't find them for a long time.

Your best bet still, is catch them when you walk in and keep walking.

hmm If nobody is in the room? Do they still come out?

I use my Quest Machine to transport my character and collect all of my NPC credits, including the haunted mansion rooms. When you do it this way, the ghosts come out immediately almost every time.
