Whats up with the GF refillable mugs

Just returned from the GF,first time staying there and we LOVED it. My (adult) DD had asked me to please bring her back a refillable mug from the GF, to use at work. When I went to purchase the mug the only styles they had all said "Grand Adventures for Kids". I asked the CM at the register (Gaspirillas Grill) if they had any mugs that said Grand Floridian. The CM said that the mug was changed about 2 years ago and they all say "Grand Adventures for Kids" now. I bought it anyway but really dont think my DD will want that for her work desk, I know she was hoping for one that said GF. This is just a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, we did enjoy our trip enormously, but just wondering if anyone knows why the mug was changed to eliminate the words Grand Floridian from it? Also, I will show this thread to my DD so she doesn't think "Oh sure, Mom just made a mistake and bought the wrong one". TIA, Karen

That's definitely strange. I wouldn't want a mug like that either.

I stayed there 4 years ago and have the Grand Adventures for Kids refillable mug. I didn't care because I thought it was cute. They had 2 styles, one had an Alice in Wonderland theme and the other had a Captain Hook theme. I guess it promotes their Pirate Cruise and Tea Party experiences for kids.

I asked the same thing when I was there a week ago! As far as I know, GF is the only one that doesn't have the resort's specific logo on the mug.

I was there with my mom, so we didn't mind buying the Alice in Wonderland ones, but I know DH wouldn't have been thrilled if he had been with me. I was also going to buy my FIL a mug (he lost his Pop mug after his April trip), but he'll just have to wait until my next trip! He'd likely prefer a more "manly" mug from the WL!

Yes, we have an Alice in Wonderland one in our collection. When we were there, we did not see the Captain Hook mug. DH felt he was too "manly" to carry the Alice mug. I really wish they had an official Grand Floridian mug.

Thanks everyone, I just e mailed this thread to my DD. I haven't yet told her that her mug does not say "Grand Floridian". I saw the same mugs as the other posters,one was the Capt Hook and the other Alice in Wonderland. I purchased the Alice one. Karen

I know it's petty, but it bugged me, too! We stayed there last December and I really wanted a Grand Floridian mug to add to my collection! We have them from all the other resorts we've stayed at - so it's a good sized collection. We use them all the time! So, I was really sad that they didn't have a regular Grand Floridian logo mug.

When I stayed at the GF for my honeymoon in 2000, they had these pretty white and burgundy mugs that had the GF logo. When we went back in 2001, they had the Grand Adventures mugs. I still have my "old" mug. I'll try to post a pic of it. It is a lot more neutral than the newer ones. I don't know why they changed them.

We were there when the Gaspirilla place was being renovated, and we had a heck of a time getting mugs of any sort! There were two in the room (open them and they charge the room) and when we said we wanted two more, no one knew how to get them for us! LOL! Housekeeping sent us to room service, who sent us to housekeeping, bla bla bla.

We finally ended up with two Alices, for us girls, and two Captian Hooks for the "boys".
