What's up with row 6 on Song?

I've been checking the seat charts on Song just to see how fast the flights are filling up, and I notice that row 6 is almost always empty, even when the rest of the front section of Song is filled.
Now, as it gets closer to the departure date, row 6 does get filled. But I wonder, is there some superstition to not book row 6? I have row g booked for my return flight this summer, but there are hardly any others filled 6s.

Any theories?

You guys are creeping me out! I just choose row 6 for our September flight! Is it haunted?!?!?!

LOL! My theory is that most people who have flown Song before know that rows 8 and 7 are actually closer to the exit door. People who have not flown Song tend to think row 1, 2, etc. are better as they are closer to the exit. So poor little row 6 is one of the last ones chosen. Again, just a theory!

I really don't care which row I have, but I do like to be in that front section.

I was creeping myself out, because we're in row 6! I just checked a lots of random dates, and it looks like there's definitely something about row 6. It's freaky. I'm going to e-mail Song and ask about this.

We're sitting in row 6 on the way home. Now I am worried...

The emergency exit rows are clearly marked as such.
I am sure there is no significance to the number 6 row not being booked first. Maybe the window is offset.

That is strange that a row would be avoided. From looking at the seating chart, it isn't an exit row, it shouldn't be a row that is missing a window and it isn't a row with a bulkhead behind it. Very interesting.

It totally depends on the aircraft. song flies 757's. Why, row 6 is avoided is a mystery. And, I doubt it has any significance. Where you sit is generally not an issue.

Isn't it funny what we think and worry about! LOL! I'm sure Gail is right, and the whole thing is a coincidence.

I did e-mail Song about this, and am awaiting their reply. I just hope they don't think I'm a nut!

On ATA's 757-300 planes, row 7 ABC is right in front of the lavatory, so it does not recline. It is so tight that I literally could not use my tray table because the person in front of me had reclined as far as they could. I was surprised the flight attendant wouldn't make him put it up while the beverages were being served. My husband couldn't get to his carry-on bag under the seat because the person in front of him had reclined all the way back, too, and copped an attitude when he asked her to at least move it up for a second so he could get his stuff. Needless to say, those two spend the flight getting poked and kicked as much as possible, and I will never, ever fly in that row again. I hope that row 6 on Song doesn't have similar problems!

Thanks for getting in touch with Song.

In checking your reservations, we show that you are scheduled to travel
out on July 5th and return July 12th. At the moment, both flights have
quite a few seats remaining throughout the aircraft. As far we are
aware, there are no known issues with seating in row 6.

On your departing flights you are seated in seats 5D, 5E & 5F. Your
return seating is 6A, 6B & 6C. If you are interested in changing these,
please visit flysong.com or give us a call at 1-800-fly-song
(1-800-fly-song).

We look forward to seeing you on Song!

Ok, what Song said.

But if anyone is bored, check any flight in June or July from NY to MCO and see if I'm imagining things.

Okay, number 1 issue for me is......I need a life. I really did go over to Song and checked out those flights. But, you're right. Only thing I can say is...when I first started looking at booking my trip in August, it seemed that rows 1,2, 7, 8 were already booked. Every time. Now, I don't think that was the case since the 330 (or whatever the day is)point had just passed. I wonder if they hold those seats for some reason, and just book the rest? That would account for row 6 always looking like there was something wrong with it.

They DO hold them for a reason. they are those with mobility issues, like bad hips, trouble walking, or like my DS wheelchair bound; they also reserve them for unaccompanied minors. It used to be that they only held row 1, but this has increased recently. If you have any sort of mobility issue, you call Song (or JetBlue or whomever) let them know about it and ask to sit in the special section of seats. DS likes to see the pilots and stuff, so we get row 1.

interesting.....I've been checking Song just about daily for our december flight prices to come down (they keep going up:rolleyes: ). I check the seating charts alot and when I first started checking, all seats were open. Now on every flight on my days rows 1-4 and 7 and 8 are blocked. On EVERY flight. I guess those are for disabilities like pumpkinboy stated??

We always try to get row 2. Row 1 has never been an option. But, it seems that row 2 is now kept out for mobility issues too. Our first trip to WDW back in '99, we traveled with my mom. She had just had breast cancer surgery the week before and we didn't know if she would need a wheelchair at the airport. So, they gave us the first row. Turned out she didn't need one, but they let us keep those seats. Must be the same now. We are flying home on 8/21 in row 2 tho. But, that was booked quite awhile ago.

Well, at least it's atarting to look like there's a reasonable explanation, I think! Better than superstitions!
