What's up with Ohio?

You don't have to show ID to vote in Ohio, sometime in the last 10 years it was deamed unconstitutional. Apparently you can register and vote in the same day now. I think they have to verify the information before the vote gets counted, but I'm not sure how they do that.

If you do not have or unwilling to provide an ID you will have to vote using a provisional ballot.

Maine has same type of laws. You do not show ID to vote and you can register on election day. Maine has always had some of the highest voter turnout in the country. But again it's Maine not Ohio. I'm sure there are other states with the same laws.

darn those homeless american citizens....
how dare they exercise their right to vote!!!:upsidedow

BTW here in NJ i only had to call and tell them my dd had become of age to vote...they sent a form ...we sent it back and she is registered!
no hoops to jump[ thru here either...

i don't want to see fraud but we can't make it impossible or intimidating for folks to vote either......

i also saw on another thread that some people were saying acorn registered them multiple times.... well could they not just tell acorn they were already registered??? gheesh.... how about some personal responsiblity too....

I guess I never realized so many states had such varying voter requirements. Wouldn't you think it would be the same for everyone?

Limiting such votes to traceable paper ballots.

How is showing ID intimidating anyone? Unless of course they are commiting voter fraud, we definately wouldn't want to intimidate anyone attempting to commit fraud:confused3 .

Many of the people that have been interviewed after being caught registering multiple times stated that they told the ACORN reps that they were already registered. They were then told it didn't matter and that the reps get paid based on the number of signatures they can produce. So the people just signed thinking it wouldn't matter. I keep wondering how it makes Obama feel to know that his supporters and groups that he supports don't feel that he can get elected without their fraudulent intervention.

You do have to show ID in Ohio. I didn't have to when I first started voting in the '90s, but you have to now.

Homeless people can get ID's, that just a huge cop out. That all you ever here what about the poor, elderly, etc..I have no problem with ID's lets see you have to have to drive, fly, alot of work places have a form of Id, most schools, to go to the bank, governemnt help, & a job-Can't hire anyone with out filling out an I9 form.

You can cast a provisional ballot without an id, the board of elections will have to validate it before being counted. Ohio is getting really screwed up, 2004 will be NOTHING compared to this year!!

well that would depend on who was asking and how they asked...
it does happen

and it intimidates folks who do know know the laws....not folks trying to commit fraud...

someone even told my DD19 that you could not vote for the first time in a presidential election... you had to have voted once before....

2004 was nothing. There was no fraud. There was no stolen election. There was no conspiracy. All there was was a bunch of sore losers.

Now Pennsylvania, where the margin was much closer than Ohio, is another story. That state was stolen.
