what's the worst thing you've eaten at wdw?

Whispering Canyon - Famous Canyon Skillet All-You-Care-To-Enjoy - well lets say it is just a skillet of greasy and very salty smoked meat ..did I say salty..it was salty... no one can enjoy this dish when they add so much salt... we didn't enjoy and we did not want more than the first skillet that remained mainly untouched. Service...sometimes but highly sporadic.

ABC Commissary - breakfast and lunch it didn't make a difference. I do see they have dropped a lot of items from the menu...

I now officially am I member of I don't like Dole Whips Club.

I had one this past trip and blech... The ice cream was full of ice crystals and the pineapple juice was bitter not sweet. I love pineapple so I thought I would love this. Next time I will stick with fresh pineapple spears at Aloha Isle.

I was very disappointed by the Cuban restaurant at the shopping area of Disney, I forget the name. It was very expensive, and equally bland. It didn't help that I'd eaten at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant just next door the previous night, which was one of the best meals I've ever eaten! Yum!

The name of the restaurant is Bongo's. Your review is exactly the way we felt. I don't know how they made Cuban food so bland. Shame on you Gloria Estefan!;)

A new one to add to the list from our Dec. trip.
Our meal at Ohana... noodles were gluey, dumplings were dry like cardboard, salad was soggy, wings were sickening sweet, and the meats all tasted the same, smokey and dry. :sad2: It took hours of walking around after our meal for DH and I to feel ok. Never again.

You have to experience these things for yourself. For example, I like Chef Mickey's, but a good number of the people here don't. I can't stand Garden Grill or Crystal Palace, but there are plenty who like them both.

To each their own. Don't worry :)

I liked Chef Mickey's breakfast (never been or lunch or dinner), liked Garden Grill dinner and Crystal Palace breakfast.

To each their own.

All these negative posts are so disappointing with a pending upcoming trip. You would think a company like Disney and those companies not owned by Disney but contracted with Disney could get it right.

We have been going every year or two for a number of years and the food quality has definitely gone down significantly. For us, the dining experience is part of the vacation experience and we are definitely thinking of spending our dollars elsewhere in the future. We will see how things are with our 2010 trip and will go from there. This may be one of the last.

I have mostly good experiences with the Disney Dining. The only things I really disliked were the Soft Pretzles at Epcot (it was hard and tasteless), and the curry dish at ABC Commissary (it was on par with dog food). I have had other meals that I didnt care for, but not because there was anything wrong with them...it just wasnt my taste.

Oh, don't let this thread get you down for your trip!:goodvibes Seriously, it's just opinions. I personally don't care for Whispering Canyon Cafe but many others love it! We love San Angel Inn but many others think the food there stinks. When we last went to Disney, we had the deluxe dining plan and ate a total of 23 meals and only 1 wasn't great! Take all of these reviews with a grain of salt. Don't let it bother you regarding your upcoming trip.:thumbsup2 Have a great time!

I know how you feel! You'd think that WDW has nothing but awful food if you read this thread. I wonder what people who have never been are thinking?

I wouldn't worry too much. It's all a matter of taste after all. Disney's food quality has dropped IMO but it's not exactly nasty or anything.

I would say the "Kjottkake" from Akershus :scared::sad2:
It was really bad...and I like everything!!

Especially after asking the waitress out how they pronounce it in Norwegian...
replace the first three letters with "shi" and the last letter with an "a":scared1:

My kids will still laugh their heads off when we talk about it:rotfl2:

Ok, since the question gave no timeframe I am going to timewarp way back when I was a kid, probably early '80s...does anyone remember those godawful cone sandwiches in the center of Tomorrowland? There used to be a CS location smack in the middle, basically where the stroller parking is now. Those sandwiches were just nasty. Talk about ground up catfood in a cone...

As for recently, while there have been some disappointments I wouldn't call any "awful" or "inedible" and this is coming from someone who loves eating out! Garden Grill needs to step up their game but inedible...I wouldn't go that far. It was okay and I would return for the atmosphere and ease of character interaction.

But I will say the frozen chocolate covered banana I got at a cart in DHS was inedible. It was so freezer burned I thought I would lose a tooth! And when I did break through the banana was cracked it was so freezer burned and yet it was slimy and light brown. Grody to the max!

This thread is bringing back the memories of all the food I ate that I would've never remembered on my own. I can't remember being repulsed by anything specific, but I think there were some things that I just couldn't eat and some restaurants that I won't be going back to anytime soon. I didn't enjoy Tonys, the French TS restaurant in Epcot, or the Italian restaurant. I will never eat at Planet Hollywood again. My food at Sci-Fi has never been really good, but I will keep going back because it's a cool experience, not a restaurant you would see unless you are at DW and we continue to eat at San Angel Inn for the atmosphere as well. Their food is just okay to me but I LOVE the flautas. I remember I couldn't eat my quick service meal at Nine Dragons, I think it was orange chicken.

I LOVEE the Dole Pinaeapple floats but I pretty much love anything pineapple!

Quick service pizza, O'hana's in general, and the Mexican restaurant in Epcot. Ohana's I felt most items were overcooked and not seasoned well, and 3 foodies were at the Mexican place and none of us liked our dishes.

Another ABC comm, from way back in 1996, never again. Blackened catfish, lobster soup at Coral Reef, and kids' pizza. Too disgusting to put near my family ever again! We all hated Marakeesh's food, but loved the ambiance. I think the trick there was that it was really, really, really hot, and all the meals reminded us of winter comfort foods. I think we were all on the verge of sick from the Coral Reef, got hot, and then ate there. Not a pleasant combo.

Ohana's, on the other hand, is DH's fav,and part of the bargain of buying DVC was that he could eat there twice in June.... I loved the experience, and the lapu lapu, ;), so that's fine. This year.

Everybody puts down the quick service places but they are there to fill a void, they're not going to have the best tasting stuff in the world. When you go into a place that will seat about a million people and all the tables are taken the food is not going to be great, they pump out burgers and pizza by the hundreds to feed the masses in a hurry. It's quick, cheap, and filling.
That being said I had something at the Coral Reef that was pretty horrible. It was a shrimp dish undercooked, brought out a new one and still couldn't get it done. The micro green salad thing yuck. Haven't been back yet maybe I'll give it a try the next time.

Us too really.....but one thing I absolutely hated was on the Boma dinner buffet:
Bobotie....it was truly horrible! but I'm sure others love it.....thank goodness there were plenty of other things to eat there. :upsidedow

for real?!?!:) I couldn't get enough of that last week.... no kidding! to all other pp's who are nervous, what one person hates, another loves- don't worry, you'll find what you like! we dined with friends last week, the same food we disliked quite a bit(yak and yeti outdoor QS place) they thought was great.....however,OT,The Yak and Yeti indoor place was the BEST! (sorry to go OT):cool1:

I just remembered that I took a picture of my Kjottkake...:sad2:
It is as bad as it looks

My last trip was in November and only a couple things really stand out as being not very good...

"Vegan Unplugged" at California Grill, and the sangria they served there. I loved the ambiance of the place - it was gorgeous! But the food wasn't what I was expecting. The chef made up something for me since I'm vegan, and I've seen really excellent reviews and pictures of the vegan food from the Cali Grill but oh my goodness, I couldn't even finish what was on my plate.

I can't even fully remember what it was...some sort of mealy, bland potato thing with sprouts on top, some sort of strange mushrooms on top of cranberry sauce, which was on top of a piece of pita that tasted as though it came out of the bag. Ugh.

The best part of the meal was the veggie sushi they served along with it - that was great. The rest...bleh!

The rest of the food I ate that week was pretty good, though.:goodvibes
