I had no clue this was from a song!

I've always said "after a while, crocodile".

The expression and its variations were common among teenagers before the song, however.
 
I chose other because I would say "after 'while..." meaning I don't enunciate the "A" in a while.
 

Weird, I'm from the same area. One syllable for everyone I know from there.
I asked my husband to say it and he pronounces it just as I do. He claims he says it as one syllable yet I hear it as two. I’m wondering if the difference is more in how one hears it versus how they actually say it.
