We live in the house my DH grew up in and sold some of our stuff when we moved in 12 years ago since there were appliances here. Just last spring we got a new refridgerator. When I asked DH how old he thought the old one was he said, "I think my mother got it the year I graduated from high school" 1969:eek: I also just posted on Jinnyboom's furnace thread...ours is the original...1952!!!

We bought my aunts house back in 1995. The house was built in 1957 and still has the original furnace (hot water heat/boiler) and also original hot water heater.

Our "spare" refrigerator that's is in the garage.
It was old when we got it when we got married 28 years ago.
It must be at least 40 years old. It has been out in the rain and in the cold and still keeps going!

Our other house had a hot water heater that was 37 years old...

This furnace is pretty old...I would say 70's.

In the basement in this house is an old clothes washer. The kind with the circular tub/wringer, white/blue, from the early 50's.

We don't know what to do with it. We saw one just like it in the Smithsonian!

is about 52 years old. The Furnace is the original. There is also a refridgerator in our basement that has to be from the late 50's early 60's. It reminds me of Grandma's LOL:o

Here I was thinking my 22 yr old stuff was old! :p

We also have a wringer washer like Cindy B although I don't use it:)

My home is 17 years old and I’ve had to replace practically everything! I’m such a dummy – my neighbor’s refrigerator broke down so I figured mine would be going soon (we have the exact same appliances). So I just went ahead and replaced it since I didn’t want to hassle of having it break down and then having to rush out and get a new one. Now I find out that refrigerators can last a LOT longer than that. Oh well, I love having a new one.

We just replaced our washer and dryer that we've had since we got married, in 1980!

The washer was acting up, and the dryer need 3 cycles to dry a load of clothes....it was time for new ones!

The washer was a Hotpoint, and the dryer was a Kenmore, and neither of them had ever needed any repairs!

Rather than sink loads of money to repair 22 year old appliances, we replaced them!

After reading all of these posts I am convinced I have no old appliances. My "oldest" appliances have to be my washer and dryer and they are 14 years old.

Now if there was a post of the appliance that gets replaced a lot I could give you a list.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

It's funny that I am posting this now....plumber is here now, seems we have to replace our toilet!!! Circa 1952!!!! He tried to save it though. Guess I'll have to break the news to my DH:D Just cross your fingers that the furnace starts up!! Otherwise I may have to get a second job:D

My parents still have and use the toaster they received as a wedding present....35 years ago.

Well this isn't my appliance, but my parents. They have their original refrigerator and stove that they put in when their house was built in 1957. They have since remodeled the kitchen, but my Mom will not give up her appliances. They also have a refrigerator in the basement that still works that was my grandparents. It must be from the 40's. It does'nt really have a freezer, just a little box that you can fit some ice cream in.

Well, I'm 41 and our stove is older than that - but we don't know the exact age of it! DH's Dad bought it for him when he moved into this house over 20 years ago at a second hand shop.

It's one of those huge buggers: you pull out the stove top and there are two ovens on the top. We've had to replace the burners a couple of times and the last time the repairman was here he told us that he doubted if he could find any more in the future.:(

Does anyone know if they still make stoves like this? I've never seen them in the stores.
Pam

Pam, what's the brand of your stove?

I had a Maytag washing machine that was made the same year I was born(1962). We just got rid of it last year because it started to leak(thankfully I have not done so yet!)

Currently, I have a lovely avocado green dishwasher and stove in my kitchen...that would be the mid 70's look right? So those 2 appliances are getting up there as well.

An old portable dishwasher we bought when we moved into our house 10 years ago. It was so old, that the top rack was round and it spun around. Replaced it a couple of years ago. This year was the first year that I FINALLY bought a brand new washing machine.
