What's the least fishy

Fresh Sea Bass - the BEST!:thumbsup2 Look for a white fish with little oil. Look at flat fish -Flounders, soles, halibuts. The fresher the better.

I think tilapia is the mildest but agree with the others that cod, haddock and flounder are pretty mild as well.

Ditto plus halibut.:thumbsup2 I grew up on flounder and spent many a night walking in the water pulling a float bucket as my father gigged them by light.

I agree that flounder is mild. Also, try Dover sole. It's also a mild, white fish.

I don't care for "fishy" tasting fish either. I really like halibut and salmon from the Pacific. I don't know why but I think it tastes better than salmon from the Atlantic.

I feel it all depends on when you get the fish... best fish we ever had was in Pensacola when I drove over to the fish market that was unloading the fish directly off of the boat as I got there. Best grouper and red snapper I have ever had - not fishy one bit (because it was just swimming around shortly before I got there).

Go to a market with live wells and buy the fish live. Have it cleaned right in front of you and consume it within 6 hours. I guarantee you that it won't matter what variety it is; if it is that fresh it will be essentially odorless.

As someone else pointed out, the smaller the fish the less likely it will have a high heavy metal content. Stick to the lower rungs of the food chain to avoid metals. (No shark, swordfish or the more expensive varieties of tuna. Cheap tuna comes from small fish, it's usually fairly low in metal content.)

My sister will not eat fish, but she eats blue gill that is fried.

I don't like seafood, with the notable exceptions of haddock, pollock and tuna. I love fish and chips and always ask what kind of fish they use before I order it. Made the mistake of having the cod once, but the taste is too strong for me. Most restaurants here in Ottawa use haddock and some use pollock (another mild white fish, actually milder than haddock) but on the east coast they use cod.

I would say orange roughy. :thumbsup2

i second the roughy, it is the only fresh fish I will eat...next to shrimp and lobster.
Grill., little Emril's Bayou seasoning, or spray with butter flavor and grill. Very good. Little pricey but a good amount for the price.:thumbsup2

Well I eat fish 4-5 times a week (see location). The first step you will need to take is ask if it is fresh or frozen. ALL frozen fish has a more fishy taste than fresh. End of discussion. Eating frozen fish is borderline disgusting IMO. Now once you get to fresh fish. Saltwater fish tend to be less fishy then freshwater.

I personally HATE fishy tasting fish. My favorites are Tuna (raw or rare only), Mahi-Mahi, and Tilapia.

The absolute least fishy/metallic tasting fish though is Wahoo. My major problem with it is it barely has any taste at all, so make sure you get a sauce or something on it if eating it.

That's my Caribbean point of view. Shark and Swordfish are fine but have more metallic than fishy. I have no experience with halibut or orange roughy but have heard that they are less fishy tasting... I just don't get those here.

Finally, if you don't take anything else, take this. FROZEN FISH HAS MORE FISHY TASTE THAN FRESH. If it isn't fresh, don't eat it.
