...you've ever heard someone say was 'Disney advice' that was completely wrong?

The other day I was in MK and waiting in line for the FP+ kiosks when I overheard a man speaking to an elderly couple about the Peoplemover...he told them that it was slow and relaxing and directed them to 'go where everyone is eating and there's stairs right there, you can go up them and the Peoplemover is there'.

Thing is, he was pointing towards the Tomorrowland EXIT and the Terrace restaurant instead of the Lunching Pad and the actual Peoplemover...I was too far away to step in and correct the guy (plus, how weird would that make me seem?), but I felt soooo bad for the couple he had 'advised'...I'm sure they probably got lost and wondered if the guy was crazy or if the ride didn't exist!

Anyone else see or hear this happening, whether at WDW, on the Disboards, or in real life?

That's a good one! I have heard things in the parks similar to that.

The other day I saw a conversation on FB (posted a thread about it last week) and after I posted the thread I returned to FB to see other comments. This one blew me away: "We like to stay on property at WDW but we don't go to the parks. We just use their buses to get around Orlando." WHAT?!?!? She then encouraged the OP to try staying on-site so she could also take advantage of the buses. This woman was either very confused about where she had been taking the bus, or else she thinks "getting around Orlando" is going to DTD

We have friends who were swimming at their resort (Pop Century). This little girl came up to them and said that they had just come from trying to get in at SAB (a big no-no, as we all know). So my friend said, "You tried to go to SAB?" and she said, "Yes, but our password didn't work." They inquired further and she said that there's no "Mickey's Magic" password that will let you pool hop. lol

This happened years ago. We were in Epcot, near Mexico, looking over toward where the Odysey restaurant used to be. There were flamingos on the grass down toward the water, and my mother insisted that they were animatronic. I said no, they were real, and Mom, pointing to a flamingo said "look, you can see the battery in the butt of that one".

Once on the bus from POR to MK I overheard a guy explaining to his girlfriend how Disney buses worked (she had been complaining about the stops around the resort)
When you stay value, the buses can take up to 2 hours to get to the parks, because they make the most stops of any resort. Moderate is of course in the middle, and if you stay deluxe, well, the buses make it to all the parks in just a couple minutes. And there's only one stop, that's why they call it the magical express.

Last fall, after an absence of 18years from Disney parks, my in-laws decide to celebrate their 40th anniversary at the parks. I agree to help them plan the trip.

First conversation: my mother-in-law INSISTED that we had to 'stay at a monorail hotel because then the monorail takes you to all the parks.'

I said yes, that was true until 1991 but now with DHS/MGM and AK the monorail only got you to half the parks.

She proceeded to try and tell me that MGM is not a *disney* park. And I finally caved and said 'it may not be, but our Disney annual passes work there - we go all the time'

Once I think I've finally gotten the whole 'there are 4 parks with transportation (monorail or boat or bus) and ANY Disney hotel allows you to use these options...'

She calls me a week later and says "I tried to book a room at the Polynesian because it has the monorail to take you to all the parks, but it's $400 a night - it must be the best hotel at Disney!"

Sightly off topic:

Not advice but over the handful of years my family and I have been going to WDW...... each time we are zipping thru the old FP que, often with no line in front of us so we are just doing that excited smiling semi-fast stroll.

Walking right alongside the standby lines of an hour or more and overhearing comments amongst some in the standby line

1) Only people staying in a WDW hotel can use that line
2) Those people pay extra to be in that line

I may not have known about fastpass when I first walked into MK that day in 2003 with my family ...... but we learned QUICKLY of it's benefits without coming up with our own explanations

Omg, I have heard this so many times! I actually heard one woman say, it's not fair that Disney hotel guests can go to the front of the line and not everyone can afford to stay at Disney and she would never pay that much just to skip a line! I was cracking up!

I've heard many over the years (and a lot to do with the old FP's, which I always tried to correct). The most recent was in chatting with my MIL, who will be staying on site with us for the very first time in her life in October - at the VGF. A few weeks ago we were chatting about dining reservations (I do all the planning but want her input and such) and she mentioned how excited she is to be staying *in* the park! (I didn't really think much of this statement) then went on to say how nice it will be not to even line up at the turnstiles in the morning, she hated that part last trip.

I was so dumbfounded I forgot to even correct her. Not sure how to bring up that we are not, in fact, staying INSIDE one of the parks?

I was in the FP line and about to go to the boarding area (can't remember which ride) and I heard a guy at the front of standby say "It must be nice to be rich". I said "It probably is".
