What's the first resort you ever stayed at?

Our first resort was Port Orleans (now POFQ)
Subsequent stays have been at Coronado Springs (2x), ASMovies (Dalmations - adjoining rooms), Swan(2x), Boardwalk Villas, ASMusic (just me and DS - 5), OKW, Beach Club Villas and VWL.

Our next non-DVC stay will be at either the Contemporary Tower or Poly.

I would have to say our kids loved the All Star Movies. (in 2001) But now the older ones like to stay in the lap of luxury where there's more action. ;)

I could stay anywhere on site.............I enjoy them all. I'm probably the only one in my family who is excited about Pop Century opening! In fact, I would stay at a different place every night but with a family of 5, that is not a practical thing to do!

We did CBR on our first trip and wanted to try something different the next time so we did POR (when it was called DL). My DW won a trip to Orlando with 4 nites off-site. We originally booked POFQ for 3 more days but ended up cancelling it to stay in the same place for the whole week. While I didn't miss the hassle of switching hotels mid week I did miss the Disnew magic of staying onsite. While we like the idea of different hotels on each stay, based on what I've been reading after staying at WL next week we'll never want to go anyplace else.

CBR in 97 was our first trip and I was hooked on Disney. Since I've been to ASMo 99, ASMu 01 and YC 03. Staying onsite for me is the only way, don't think I'd enjoy the trip nearly as much otherwise..

First resort was ASMusic, Jazz Inn, 1997
1998-ASMusic,Broadway
1999-ASMovies,Toy Story (Buzz)
2000-ASMovies,(Woody)
2002-ASMovies,Dalmations
2003-Caribbean Beach,Jamica

POFQ was our first and we really enjoyed it.

Our first was the Polynesian in Dec 1992. When we decided to go, I bought Birnbaums Official Guide and read it cover to cover. The Polynesian sounded the most interesting. We didn't go to WDW for several years, but when we did in 2001, we came back to the Polynesian, and we may go again this year for part of our stay. It's hard to stay away from!

My first stay was 5 days/4 nites at the Golf Resort (later the Disney Inn and now Shades of Green). It was Memorial Day weekend of 1978. Been there 20 times since but still remember every detail of the first trip.

The VERY first resort I stayed at was the Contemporary with my parents and brothers when I was in second grade. Mom says it wasn't in the tower, but I can't remember much about the resort.

After a LONG time away, there were two or three visits with stays at off-site hotels.

Finally, I kicked off the more recent string of on-site stays that are in my signature.

Boardwalk Inn for my honeymoon. Partially because my DW was a big Disney fan (although I have since surpassed her). Partially because we wanted to do our honeymoon "right". And partially because, at the time, the Boardwalk was brand new. Loved it. Garden view. Very accomodating and convenient.

Port Orleans (French Quarter) for my DD's first trip at 15 months. Beautiful grounds and not very crowded when we were there.

All Star Movies. I know some people love the All Stars, but if I can avoid them, I will. The food court was convenient and our room was not too far. We had a car so no bus issues. It was just a "great airfare" quick trip so it did the job as price was key. But I really missed the quieter, less crowded conditions of my previous two resorts.

A quick off-site trip as we weren't doing much at Disney. Boy, that'll give you some perspective. Could traffic be any worse off-site (although some might say the same for on-site)? It was also a preview trip for our next resort.

Animal Kingdom Lodge. So far, our favorite. If we weren't on some sort of half-crazed mission to stay at new resorts, we'd be back at AKL in a heartbeat. Chances are good that we might be back here before we get to all of the other resorts.

Finally, we've got our eye on a long weekend at Caribbean Beach. We've wanted to stay there for a while, but have been put off by the perceived remoteness. Since the upcoming trip doesn't feature park touring, CBR will fit the bill nicely.

Of the remaining resorts, Pop Century is probably at the bottom of the list and the Polynesian is our ultimate goal (GF seems too fancy for our tastes, but would try it for at a great rate).

Our first resort was CBR in 1993. Then I experienced a long absence from WDW until 2001. That time we had a split stay between onsite at FW Cabin and Disney Institute 2 bdrm villa (had a problem with bugs at the cabin and complained, so they moved us to the DI) and offsite (HIFS). I'll never forget the villa at DI, as that's where we spent the day on 9/11 watching the horror on tv after being evacuated from MK. One of those "you'll never forget where you were when you heard the news" things.

...CSR, so it holds a special place in my heart:teeth:!

My first WDW resort was CBR and we returned a few times after that visit. We've also stayed at Grand Floridian twice, Polynesian and Contemporary several times.

Our first resort was CBR & we loved it. We have a ressie there for April 2004 but we just bought a travel trailer so I'm thinking about switching to ASMo. We will be keeping our trailer at the shore (Cape May NJ) and I think I'd like to save a few $ by staying at an All Star resort. I'm going to request the Toy Story section. DD is 3 & loves the Toy Story movies.

My first trip was in '95 at CBR - what a magical vacation! But, Dixie Landings (or POR) was the first resort DH & I ever stayed at and it's still a favorite. All told, here's my Disney history: CBR (2x), POR (2X), ASmu, GF, CR, & AKL. My personal favorite is AKL, especially because I wasn't expecting to like this place at all, nevermind fall completely in love with it! The only place we wouldn't return to is ASMu. We actually liked the place, but the AC was HORRIBLE - we couldn't get the temp below 75! In October, we'll be going back to POR & then trying the Poly for the first time - can't wait!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

DH and I stayed at the GF for our honeymoon in 2000. Since then we've stayed at the Dolphin, the Swan, and one night at ASM.

We LOVE the swan and dolphin...both are great!! But, we still want to get back to the GF one day! :)

Our first resort was Dixie Landings. Then we moved on to CBR, WL concierge, BWI and our last one was BWV. We're on a quest to try them all.

On our second trip (first trip was off site... ICK!) we stayed in a Fort Wilderness trailer. We also stayed there on our next trip. Because of bugs and marauding armadillos that was my last time there. Our 4th trip was spent at POFQ. I fell in love with that resort and it remains my favorite to this day.

That's interesting about marauding armadillos!! I thought it was just gators we had to worry about!!;)

sooooo, how WAS the bug situation at Ft W? Any tips you can give me?? (we're headed there on Aug 8)

Do armadillos travel in packs?
That's one horror movie they haven't made yet: "The Texas Armadillo Massacre".

My first visit to WDW was in 1972 with my family we stayed off-site at Days Inn (I think). Don't remeber too uch about the trip except for the book of tickets. It turns out that my wife to be was also making her first visit at about the same time with her family - she stayed at the Contemporary (I married up - out punted my coverage, that's what my buddy tells me).

Our first visit together was in 1982 with friends - we were not married yet & a group of us were down for what was then called The Tangerine Bowl (Auburn vs Boston College). It was very exciting and we only visited Epcot on this trip - satyed off-site as we were poor, starving college students (couldn't get her Dad to pay for it). Auburn destroyed Doug Flutie & Boston College.

Our first trip after we were married wasn't until 1990. We stayed with extended family members (her family) at The Disney Inn. There were too many of us & everyone was a Chief, except me- I was the Indian. We refer to that trip as "The Disney From HE--". Almost made us never want to visit again.

Our first visit as a family (just the four of us me, DW, DS, & DD) was the next year we stayed at the Dolphin (just before it changed management). It was a great trip. Vowed never to go unless we could stay on-site.

On our next trip we discovered the Beach Club. What a mistake that was! Now bar has been raised & the expectations are very high. We have stayed at the Beach Club so many times I have lost count. We have also stayed at Dixie Landings, Port Orleans, Polynesian, Boardwalk Inn, Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge, and next week we will have our first stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
