What's the first resort you ever stayed at?

First was AS Sports and I didn't know about discounts. Loved being onsite so much that we went back the next month(CBR) and planned no parks. We've since done no parks several times just to maximize enjoying the resort. Aside from CBR we've since been to POFQ, CSR, AS Movies, POLY, POR, AKL, and most recently WL. An earlier post remembered that CBR was $69 in 1989. Interesting to note that AP and FL.Res. rate for the first half of this summer was $74. We're going to POR this weekend (no parks) and paying $84.

Our first 3 stays, beginning in 1987, were the FW Trailer Homes (replaced now by the cabins), with our then young children. What's cool is that our oldest DS just graduated from college, so Mom got a weekend with family at the FW Cabins for a couple days as a "nostalgia" gift before DS went out into the big world (he was lucky enough to get a job starting 2 days after we returned). We're DVC members now, DH always insists on OKW, but we still think FW Cabins are ideal for young families. But they're so much smaller now (LOL-or is it that we're all so much bigger?)!

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge our first trip. Haven't been back since, however, we did love it. We look forward to staying at the villas sometime, too.

But, our second trip was to the Grand Floridian, and we have returned there a few times. ;)

After hitting Yogi Bear campground in 1978we went to Ft Wilderness in 1979 and have stayed at WDW eversince.
Ft Wilderness in 80,82,84.Then we stayed home for 10 years. Since 94 we have stayed at; Dixie Landings,Port Orleans, CBR(twice), Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Contempoary, All Star Sports, and Swan.In 97 we joined DVC and have stayed at OKW and Boardwalk Villas as a result of that. Looking forward to our next trip whenever that is......

My first on property resort was WDW Dolphin (had never experienced anything like it before that). My first Disney-owned hotel was Port Orleans. Still has a special place in my heart :)

My first stay on Disney property was as a child camping at Fort Wilderness. Our parents dragged us all around in a trailer for vacations through most of my childhood. I like FW but have never felt an overwhelming desire to return.

My first resort stay was the Contemporary (again as a child). I loved that hotel and still hold a special place for it.

Part of my love for wdw is that I always want to try someplace new. I love POR and GF (my favorites), but I am chomping at the bit to try WL in October. After that I have several others on my list including YC, BC and Pop Century.

We started at the CBR in 1999 ( a one-off onsite trip lol ), the following year we hit ASmo and this year we're trying the POly (though only for a few days:()

I'd quite happily stay at CBR and ASMo again - just like to try different resorts :Pinkbounc

The Contemporary, Thanksgiving 1992.

I've now stayed at all the WDW resorts except the Yacht Club, the Grand Floridian and Fort Wilderness.

Way back in 1976, I stayed at The Polynesian VILLAGE (as it was called then) with my parents. Haven't been back there since, my wallet won't allow it.;) But I'll keep dreaming.:D

I tried to book the CR in 1978, for our honeymoon. The travel agent told me that none of the 3 existing Disney resorts (CR, Poly, and the then Golf Resort) were available because "November is their busy season." Huh? So we stayed at the Royal Plaza, which was probably OK - but I can't remember anything about it! I later learned that Disney didn't give TA commissions on their resorts in the early years - so I wonder just how hard the agent tried to book a room for us.

Our first Disney resort was the Disney Inn (now SoG) - we loved, loved, LOVED it! This was in 1993, our kids were little, and we had a perfect vacation. Our now 12 y/o still remembers the cool slide they had.

After years of staying off-site, we finally stayed at ASMo in January 2001. We fell in love with the on-site experience. Next time we stayed at POR and loved that even more. After that, we tried CBR, which we also loved. (Are you seeing a trend here? I don't think I'll meet a Disney resort that I don't love!)

Our next stay will be at WL, whenever we're able to go to WDW again. (Hopefully soon, because the withdrawals are killing me!) We planned & cancelled at least twice last year and are hoping to make it there before this year's up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

First Disney resort was CBR.

I've returned to CBR twice since then (see below) and have stayed at the Poly, AKL, WL, ASMo, POFQ. I want to try them all!

In this order starting with our honeymoon 9 years ago.

All Star Music
All Star Music
Caribbean Beach
Caribbean Beach
Coronado Springs
Coronado Springs
Contemporary
Yacht Club
Beach Club
Beach Club
Grand Floridian
Beach Club
Wilderness Lodge

Our favorite is YC/BC and we've sworn to stay no place else again! Love the Epcot Resort area and the boardwalk with all the shopping and dining possibilities. We don't have kids and I think this is a great place for people without kids to stay. I would stay at the Swan or Dolphin if I could get a really really good rate. (any ideas out there for that?) I'm not a teacher or a government employee or anything fancy like that.

Great thread!

I just remembered...I stayed at the Contemporary as a child with my parents. So move that to the top of my list.

In 1976 we went to WDW for the first time, I was three. My parents couldn't decide betwee the CR and the Ploy, so we split the week and stayed at both! I don't remember much, but I do remember our next trip the next year when we stayed at Fort Wilderness, as a kid I LOVED IT!

Our first resort was the Contemporary. We stayed there twice. We then moved on to Port Orleans, Wilderness Lodge, and the Yacht Club -- our favorite!!!
