No, it's not a riddle, I need new glasses!!

What's the difference between the two, and who do I need to see to get a prescription for new glasses?

I believe the difference is one can prescribe medication for your eyes and possibly do surgery and the other just does the exams. But I could be wrong.

An opthamalogist is an MD with a specialty in opthamalogy. He/she can perform eye surgery and diagnose and treat all types of eye diseases, in addition to doing traditional eye exams and prescribing glasses or contacts.

An optometrist is a doctor of optometry and is qualified to do regular eye examinations and prescribe glasses or contacts. My optometrist is also able to prescribe things such as allergy eye drops.

Go to either, both are great. :)

The difference is about $100,000 or more per year in income.

You'll do fine with either for glasses.
