"What's the Catch - Do I Not Get Bacon?" - 11/27 - TR started!

Hello! I just spent some time reading all of your plans! You take wonderful pictures!! I would love to try Boma but its so hard to get too! Staying at AKL is a very good way to get to be able to enjoy it multiple times!!
Hello! :wave2:
Boma is hard to get to if you're not at AKL, we've done it a few times but we've also skipped it a few times just because it's a chore. I'll be glad to get there with no hassle!

I'm on the fence about the MVMCP for our December trip.. If my hubby wasn't along it would be a definite but not sure he would enjoy it at all as he really isn't a big Disney fan and did not like the Halloween Party much last year.
Hmmm that is a conundrum. Does he like Christmas? I love the parties, but especially the Christmas party because I'm such a Christmas lover. I hope you get to do the party ;)

Can't wait to hear more of your plans!

A Question on your Heat Pump! Is that one that you install a main unit outside and then have the unit up near the ceiling? WE are trying to figure out something for our house as we have no ducting as the heat is Radiant Heat.
Yes, that's what it is. It's an LG 181 HSV2 I think, if you wanted to Google it. We haven't used the heating feature yet but she sure cools down the house with the AC!

The wedding weekend looks like it was a lot of fun! What an interesting way for the couple to spend their honeymoon.

Your AK photos are gorgeous

I like the idea of a nice relaxed day and then MVMCP!!! It is such a great party, especially for "Christmas" people (like me lol)
We had a blast after the wedding, I was so happy we decided to go!
I think the nice relaxing day will be a good way to stay awake longer at the party! :rotfl2:

Glad to hear you had a good time at the wedding and the weekend after. Alex and I ended up doing something similar to what you all did. A tropical storm hit right on our wedding day, so all our friends were stranded in their hotel rooms. So, we all just kind of hung out and chilled for the 2 day following. It was actually pretty fun. And your bonfires with the waves and singing sounds like it'd be nice. :goodvibes

The dessert party opened up on a Wednesday night?? Hmm, I wouldn't have guessed that. Maybe Disney was trying to be sneaky and prevent a system crash? :confused3 Either way, it's great that you were able to get a reservation, and this time didn't have to claim you had a baby with you! :rotfl2:

If I remember correctly, you've reviewed Yak and Yeti before and raved about those wontons....it helped me decide to eat there on my next trip!
The dessert party opening on Wednesday was really weird, I'm just glad I caught it!
Can't wait for those wontons!

Hi Wendy! You looked so pretty for the wedding. I love the floral accent at the neckline. Very nice!
Thanks Brenda! I was lucky enough to have first choice of dresses amongst the bridesmaids, more than one of them told me they wanted my dress but the Bride wanted each girl in a different dress. hehehe

I can picture a beachside campout with the wave and the music. Ahhhh lovely.

Yay for scoring the dessert party! I agree with your observation.. the dessert may not be why you book it but to have a guaranteed spot for us short people is worth it! And to see Tinkerbelle fly directly over is awesome too. That's hilarious about the phantom baby!
Ahh I LOVE the dessert party! Last year we didn't get to see Tinkerbell at the dessert party because it was a rainy night so I hope I get to this year!

I would go to Y&Y just for those cream cheese wontons. Absolutely. They are one of my favorite desserts in WDW next to that Gers Bread Pudding! :thumbsup2
Depending on how the day goes we just might go just for the wontons! HAhaha I have to try that bread pudding if it beats out the wontons. :thumbsup2

Sorry I am behind!

Your weekend wedding celebration looks like it was lovely. I know getting ready was stressful for you, so I'm glad the wedding turned out to be a great time. You look beautiful in your picture!

Yay :woohoo: for getting your dessert party booked WITHOUT having to add a baby this year.

Beautiful pictures, as always! I have to reread your firework picture update before I leave next month. I told you, you need to write a manual!

The weekend after the wedding was a nice relaxing way to unwind after the stress of the wedding and events leading up to it!

No baby necessary this year, so happy!! :rotfl2:

I keep hoping to find an easy way to put the photography lessons all together. I was looking at Google documents. For now maybe I'll just re-organize the links to them. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! It's Thursday and I'm off as per usual. I've been waiting around all day for some exciting news -- Johnny's best friend Scott's wife is in labour at the hospital now! Unfortunately she's had a very difficult pregnancy and they had to induce her this morning so they're keeping a close eye on her. Hoping for some really great news for them very soon!

tumblr_mrg1i5w8cO1sfv4wno1_500.gif

I just finished the book The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman today. It was... a well written book but it kind of messed with my head. I don't want to give much away in case anyone wants to read it but it left me feeling sad so I had to get right on the Dis. :thumbsup2

One more interesting story before I get to anything relevant. Once upon a time, about 8 or 9 years ago, Johnny asked for a guitar for Christmas because he really wanted to learn to play.

tumblr_ml28ewYZtZ1snkvj8o1_500.gif

His mother got him a small beginner's guitar and some teach-yourself books. Unfortunately the guitar was too small for him to comfortably used and it went into storage at his father's apartment. Last week he had to empty his stuff out of his dad's and the guitar came home.

Moi, with my new little guitar! (Very late at night hahaha, hence the sleepy eyes!)
null_zps27d14814.jpg

I picked it up and have now taught myself three crazy easy songs and am working on a fourth! (Wake Me Up When September Ends -- I'm loving this one!)

tumblr_mj31qa4mFR1rzr0suo1_500.gif

So Johnny was feeling a wee bit jealous and left out so he went and got himself a nice shiny guitar! Now we both have a new hobby.

So... I have a new toy! Actually I don't yet... but my name is on it. Last week at work the Sigma rep came around and showed us a few of the new lenses. One he showed us was the 18-35mm f1.8. I fell in love. It's so well made! I looked it up and the reviews are really amazing. I was hoping to get a 35mm f1.8 but when I saw this one with a slightly better zoom range it got me thinking. Then the rep told me he will be selling his samples in November! I can get that lens for half price. It's barely used and Sigma will still honour the full 7 year warranty! :cheer2: Now I just have to hope and pray that he will be selling it before I go!

One last piece of news for today. Have you heard that the Glow with the Show Mickey ears are coming to Walt Disney World in October!? I'm pretty excited. I kind of need them.

Guess what, guess what!?

null_zpsf3d0c631.jpg

Anyway sorry for the odd, mixed up update, next time back to the day to days and hopefully a Photography 101 lesson!

Woo hoo for 60 days! :woohoo:

Rock on with the guitar duo. I totally taught myself to play the guitar. I have taken lessons, but I am mostly self taught. You just have to build up the callouses and play all the time.

How great that you are getting a news lens. I hope you are able to get it before you leave. That's so exciting. :thumbsup2

I have heard nothing but good things about the Sigma lens! That's awesome that the rep is going to sell you his samples. Whoo hoo!

I'm still debating about the glow ears especially because of the price tag of $25. Seems a little steep but I'm very curious to see how things look for Wishes when I go in October. I'm going to guess it's going avail some very interesting photo ops that weren't available before. Oooo, I think I just came up a photo safari item for my PTR! :thumbsup2

Wake Me Up When September Ends - one of my fav Green Day songs! Actually, this should be the anthem for our DIS October 2013 Facebook group. :lmao: I used to listen to that song on my drive back home exhausted late at night after a long day at the hospital during my fellowship training in 2005. So everytime I hear that song it gets me nostalgic in a bittersweet way. :goodvibes

Your trip Is getting closer!

I am a complete music dork so I can absolutely understand the guitar excitement! I can pick at the guitar, but my real instruments are the clarinet, bass clarinet, and violin. Odd combo, huh? I also love Greenday, so great song choice! :thumbsup2

We have finally booked our trip. Since we are flying this time, we decided to stay at Pop to save some money instead of POFQ. This will be our third stay at the Pop. We have around 140 days!

Go you on teaching yourself the guitar! I played the flute many moons ago but I don’t think I could ever teach myself another instrument.

I’m totally jealous of your Sigma sample sale, how awesome is that? I hope that you get it before your trip so we can see some “test” pictures from your trip.

Ahhh guitars are wonderful! I need to play mine way more than I do. I expect you to post a video jam session in the near future!

Wow, what an amazing deal on that lens. Like super amazing! Holy! (and the gif of Peach just made my day).

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG YES!!!!! Glow with the Show. Yeah, I'm very excited!!! :hyper:

I just caught up on all your plans. They sound AMAZING! your pictures are so beautiful and make me really want to be back there. Maybe I can convince the Hubby to go on another trip soon. Can't wait to read the TR.

well that's just fun news about the guitar! I played/play piano, but guitar always had me a little baffled.

Awesome news on the lens! I'm a bargain hunter, so it sounds like you're getting a fantastic piece of equipment at a great price. Good work!

The Glow with the Show ears sound SO cool. We'll miss the implementation though :/

The callouses are coming. The biggest problem there is that I always wear my fingernails long so my fingertips aren't used to touching anything at all, let alone pushing on guitar strings! But they're coming. :thumbsup2
I hope I can get my lens before I leave too! It would be perfect for Disney!

I had no intentions of buying a zoom, my next lens was going to be a nice prime, maybe a 35 f1.4 or something but then he showed me that and I was in love! I can't wait to give it a go!
The ears are a little expensive. I'd love to have them but can't honestly see me shelling out $50 for them. I'm way too cheap for that! But I can't wait to see what they look like!
Hahahaha nice, Wake me Up [...] is turning out to be a little bit difficult but I'm getting there. At first I thought I'd never be able to do the first part because it was too hard, now I can breeze through that so I know some day I'll look that way about the whole song! It's one of Johnny's favourite songs too.

I played trombone in grade 6 band, but I hated the instrument and instructor so much (he wouldn't let me change to another instrument. I was 11! No fun for a kid!) so I quit. I've often wished I could play an instrument -- any instrument! So now I'm teaching myself. :rotfl:
Oh yay for booking your trip!! I love Pop so for me it would be a very good trade off. :thumbsup2

I used to want to play the flute so bad! I also would love to play piano, but between piano and guitar, I chose guitar because you can't bring a piano to a camp fire. :rotfl:
Ohh I can't tell you how much I'm wishing to get my lens before my trip! Just to get used to it if nothing else! Here's hoping!

Ahhh guitars are wonderful! I need to play mine way more than I do. I expect you to post a video jam session in the near future!

When I get halfway decent at any one song, you might get an audio clip. No video, I learned I stick my tongue out when I'm concentrating on playing. :lmao:
Oh man, I wasn't even looking to buy a lens! The deal was just too good to pass up! :thumbsup2
I'm so excited to see Glow with the Show! I wonder if they'll glow red and green for the Christmas party... :confused3 :lovestruc

I just caught up on all your plans. They sound AMAZING! your pictures are so beautiful and make me really want to be back there. Maybe I can convince the Hubby to go on another trip soon. Can't wait to read the TR.
Yay! Thank you! Hope you can convince him for another trip soon! :thumbsup2

I find the more I play the easier each next new thing gets for me. I'm loving it! I wanted to play piano really bad too but chose the guitar over piano for portability. Here in Cape Breton we're known for bonfires and kitchen parties and you can't take a piano to either. :rotfl: My mom chose piano though. She has an app on her ipad but she's looking at taking some lessons.
It's such a great deal on that lens. I quite literally couldn't let it pass!
Aww too bad you miss the GWTS ears! I was watching some videos, they look really cool! (Unfortunately expensive though... :confused3 )

Howdy!!

I hope you get the sigma 18-35 for your vacation! That's pretty awesome you are getting it at such a deal!!!

Yay for guitar playing! I had given my husband a guitar for an anniversary like 10-11 years ago - he wanted to learn but has yet to.... I should actually pull it out and make sure it's still ok...

And you are making me want to travel your way! It looks so beautiful!

I hope everything went well for Scott's wife. :goodvibes

I think it's so neat you and your husband have so many similar hobbies.

Glow with the Show looks amazing!

What a fun group of updates!

Congrats on your new hobby! My teenager has been taking guitar lessons for about 3-4 years. He does a lot of Green Day stuff.

I played flute (very poorly) in middle school and Freshman year in HS. My brother played trombone and HATED it. My son Ben was assigned the trombone in middle school band a couple of years ago, which is good news because- SCORE! He is playing his uncle's 30 year old instrument for the cost of a $15 tuneup.

I am so excited for you about the new lens. Even if the salesman isn't quite ready to part with it before your trip, you should ask if you can take it and use it and provide him with some pictures using it from your trip.

Wendy your talent horizon keeps expanding. Now you have a shot at fame with being a guitar hero as well as an amazing photographer! That's awesome about your new hobby. :) Three out of four of my kids played guitar, some played better than others so you can imagine what our house sounded like at times. I suppose it's better than playing the drums! ;)

We've had the glow to the show ears here (D-land) for a couple years. I've not been moved to buy and participate. They have the "glow" people in a special section on Main Street.

I hope your lens becomes available before your trip. :thumbsup2 Sounds like a great deal for a great lens.

By the way... did the baby arrive??

My daughter is learning guitar too. She plays multiple instruments and taught herself. Now, she is taking a guitar class at college and loves it! I never was able to book BOG for our November trip. But I did get it booked for March!! I am still hoping to try it in November for lunch if the line isn't too long!

These Glow ears look like fun and I so so think I will need a pair of them. Very curious about them

Guitar for the whole crew sounds loud, but also a lot of fun. Enjoy practice time

I also hope I can get the lens pre-vacation hehe. If not, I don't get it until Christmas! :rotfl:
You should pull the guitar out and play it yourself! There are lots of phone apps and youtube vids about teaching yourself guitar! I'm really enjoying it.
If you do ever travel this way, come mid-October it's the most beautiful time!

I hope everything went well for Scott's wife. :goodvibes

I think it's so neat you and your husband have so many similar hobbies.

Glow with the Show looks amazing!
Scott and his wife and the baby are all doing really well, thanks for asking!
Johnny and I do have a lot of common interests, it works out well for us and makes it easier to deal with the ones we don't have in common! :rotfl:
I was watching some video of the Glow with the Show and it looks so cool!

What a fun group of updates!

Congrats on your new hobby! My teenager has been taking guitar lessons for about 3-4 years. He does a lot of Green Day stuff.
I can't wait until I've been doing it for 3-4 years and it comes a little easier. I have very little patience with learning new things, I feel like I should be an expert by now. It's been at least a week! :rotfl:

I played flute (very poorly) in middle school and Freshman year in HS. My brother played trombone and HATED it. My son Ben was assigned the trombone in middle school band a couple of years ago, which is good news because- SCORE! He is playing his uncle's 30 year old instrument for the cost of a $15 tuneup.
I rented my trombone luckily, so even though I hated it there wasn't much wasted money when I wanted to give it up!

I am so excited for you about the new lens. Even if the salesman isn't quite ready to part with it before your trip, you should ask if you can take it and use it and provide him with some pictures using it from your trip.
That's not a bad idea! I might just give that a try! :thumbsup2

Wendy your talent horizon keeps expanding. Now you have a shot at fame with being a guitar hero as well as an amazing photographer! That's awesome about your new hobby. :) Three out of four of my kids played guitar, some played better than others so you can imagine what our house sounded like at times. I suppose it's better than playing the drums! ;)
I'm planning on tackling Canada's Got Talent as a photographing guitar player. :rotfl:
Our house sounds a little wild with just two of us sometimes so I can just imagine what it would have been like with three!

We've had the glow to the show ears here (D-land) for a couple years. I've not been moved to buy and participate. They have the "glow" people in a special section on Main Street.
That's something I didn't know, they put the glow ears in a section. I guess that makes sense, that way they would really have a better effect.

I hope your lens becomes available before your trip. :thumbsup2 Sounds like a great deal for a great lens.
Me too! It would be a great lens for Disney! :cheer2:

By the way... did the baby arrive??
Yes! Little girl, 8 pounds, 11 ounces and healthy with a crazy full head of hair. :goodvibes

My daughter is learning guitar too. She plays multiple instruments and taught herself. Now, she is taking a guitar class at college and loves it! I never was able to book BOG for our November trip. But I did get it booked for March!! I am still hoping to try it in November for lunch if the line isn't too long!
I thought about taking some guitar classes, I still think about it but I'm having fun learning myself for now. Some day!
Glad you got BOG for March!

These Glow ears look like fun and I so so think I will need a pair of them. Very curious about them

Guitar for the whole crew sounds loud, but also a lot of fun. Enjoy practice time
I'm curious about the ears, I like the look of them but the price makes me second guess it.
We're having fun practicing together!

Just popping my head in to say hi! :wave2:

I've been MIA for a few months...mostly because I've been busy doing non-computer related stuff, but I'm all caught up on your PTR and I'm getting excited for you! popcorn:: I'm really sorry to hear about the sad news with your cousin, but hopefully the treatments work really well for him. :goodvibes

Your plans all sound great! :thumbsup2 I can't wait for you to see BOG...you're going to loose it. In a good way! :cloud9:

Those sandals look awesome! I may have to look into getting a pair in the future. ::yes:: I'm also glad all the wedding related events went well, and that you're now able to relax and focus on your own trip. I've really got get myself ready for work, but like I said, just wanted to say hi and see how things were going :goodvibes

She was having fun learning herself too. But, since she is in college and has the opportunity to take the guitar class she figured that she might as well take advantage of it! Only 50 days until our trip - YAY!!!!
