What's the BEST use of 2 TS credits for a Signature Meal?

You can also get lobster for 1 TS credit at Cap'n Jack's in DTD. If you weren't wanting to spend 2 credits for it.

He wants the whole Maine lobster and not the tails that Cap'n Jack's has. If he doesn't stop being so picky I just might not book an ADR for a seafood/lobster place for him at ALL. He's the only one in our family that eats seafood anyway.

Is it really EVER worth 2 ts credits to dine? I mean really. . .my first thought is Disney portions are HUGE. . .I am an AP holder at Disney Cali and have NEVER purchased a meal for myself. My hubby purchases a meal and my son and I eat off theirs. . .most of the time I do order a side salad but that is it. We have eaten inside Napa Rose Restaurant and it is wonderful but the portions are HUGE. . .I mean HUGE. . .so I usually share with my son and husband. So are the two TS credits worth it? Not in my opinion. . .

Yatchsman Steakhouse is worth 2 ts and has very good food. Brown Derby is not worth 2ts service was bad and we had to send the entree back 2x's and it still wasnt right.

The way I work it out is this:
Look at where else you will be eating for 1 credit. If 2 of your single credit meals will cost more than your 2 credit meal then pay OOP at your signature meal.

We ate at Yachtsman and weren't impressed. Our bill was $130, and took 4 credits. At Kona we loved the food and our bill was $90 for just 2 credits. It would have been a "better deal" to eat at Kona twice. We always end up with more TS ADRs than we have credits for, so we know ahead of time that we'll be paying cash for certain meals.

I sorta look at it the way n2mm does and figure it like this: $38 for DP a day per person - 1 CS (lunch at what we would spend if not on DP) meal plus drink average $9 - Snack $4 = $25 left over for TS meal 1 credit. The trip last week there were 3 adults so for a 2 credit TS restaurant it cost us $150. California Grill our bill came to $210 so we saved around $60. At Yachtman's the bill came to $223 so we saved $73. We paid oop at the Brown Derby and ordered appy, entree & dessert and the total came to $156 so we would've lost $ if we'd used 2 TS there. We didn't try to order the most expensive thing on the menu at all. Just ordered what we wanted. We all got the pork tenderloin at CG and I think that was the cheapest on the menu and we still saved $.

To me, it appears that the buffets & set menu 1 TS meals are the worst use of the DP. Those average around $35 if you include tax & 18% tip so you only save $10 a person on those.

The 1 credit TS meal we ate, Chef de France, the bill came to $157 so 3 X $25 = $75 gave us a savings of $82.

And it was nice not having to worry about what it would cost to order what we want.

After looking at the pictures posted on this site and reviewing the menu's, we've decided to try Narcoosee's or CG and Jiko. We will be on the dining plan, DD is 11 but is a light eater and tiny, looks more like 9yrs old.
Is it allowed or considered poor manners if DD and I shared our meal in the nicer restaurants? It would definitely be a good value for us then, if not I'll pay OOP for both our meals so she can order off the children's menu and I could get just an entree

My daughter is also a light eater and I plan on sharing some TS with her and paying OOP for an extra salad, etc. Then , we will use those extra credits towards a 2TS meal (we have three planned...Narc., CG and Jiko. Most people just leave a little extra tip when doing this, but it seems to be no problem at any Disney rest.

JodyTG -- Narcoosee's has whole main lobsters and they are available as the entree on the DDP with 2TS. We always have lobster when we eat at Narcoosee's and most of the time they've been good -- about 2 lbs and pretty tender. We did hit one night where the lobsters seemed smaller than 2 lbs and a bit tough, so just depends on the catch/shipment they get. It's a better value to use DDP for them, IMO, rather than paying OOP. They charge $54 for the lobster entree (and it's the lobster and nothing with it other than butter), which is absurdly overpriced -- I can get an equivalent lobster at a lovely restaurant here in Manhattan for $34!

Other than Shula's, which is not on DDP (but always has great Maine lobster in our experience), Narcoosee's is the only place I know of in WDW that has Maine lobster. Fulton's at DDT might also, but I've not eaten it there if they do.

I agree with your DH, for me it's whole Maine lobster or nothing at all. I'm not interested in so-called Australian lobster tails.

Thank you for the information, ElizabethB. My DH was born and raised in Syracuse, New York and says that he knows good seafood and refuses to eat anything else. When looking at the menus with me, he said (jokingly I'm sure) that the only real lobster is whole Maine lobster; the rest is obviously fake (like using soy for a hamburger instead of beef).
:confused3

Anyway, I'll be sure to make an ADR for Narcoosee's for our next trip so that he can have his beloved lobster. I'm a southern girl that really, really tried to adjust my palate for his seafood fetish; but I guess that I'm just a meat and potatoes kind of girl.

Oh man! My husband and I used 2 credits each for California Grill last August and it was the best meal we've ever had! We had ressies during the fireworks and enjoyed watching them while dining. The food alone was definitely worth using the credits, but viewing the fireworks from our table was icing on the cake!
