Just wondering. We haven't ever used 2 TS credits on a single meal before. We are going in August and DH REALLY wants to do California Grill. Just looking for feedback to see what is really the best use of 2 TSs. THANKS!!!

Honestly I don't think there is any Signature Dining that merits 2 TS credits from a monetary perspective. Maybe CRT or HDDR but that would be all. Definately not the Brown Derby.

I can eat probably $36-$40 dollars at one TS meal. SO if I was to use 2 TS at say HDDR ($58.99 OOP) I would be losing money on that deal.

I think it really depends. I thought that it was worth it for my husband and I to use 2 credits at CG for our tenth anniversary dinner. We had a great time, and since it was a big event, we were planning on going all out and ordering appetizers and desserts, etc. The atmosphere was fun and festive, and we were able to see the fireworks afterwards. We had a great time and it was well worth it for us. However, I did not think it was worth 2 to eat at Yachtsman Steakhouse. It's not that it was a bad dinner, it just didn't seem worth 2 credits. I don't think Brown Derby is either. Now, I have never eaten at HDDR so I can't comment on that. I do think that it is a personal reasoning, so another person might completely disagree on what I've just written. I think it will be nice to get some other posts and see what others think too.

I wholeheartedly have to disagree with this perspective. I know immediately of 2 TS that are worth every penny (and then some). Just off the top of my head (others are there too..lol)
Yachtsman
California Grill

Both are FANTASTIC and well worth the 2 TS credits. Our group of 4 adults (both couples on DDP) had dinner @ Yachtsman and our food & drink (non alcoholic) bill ALONE was over $425. This does not count gratuity which would be an additional 18% or $80.00.

Another example, is at Yachtsman, one of their pricier entrees is over $60.00 (there are other items higher), not including appetizer or dessert. If you really take the time and want to experience all the fine dining and restaurants Disney offers on the DDP you can get HUGE values using it. I wouldn't use 2TS credits for HDDR , that just doesn't work out to make financial sense. I would use it at California Grill, Yachtsman, CRT and Narcoosees (personally don't like it, but others do).

You need to spend a little time planning your meals and you will see a huge savings. This is my experience having the free dining 2X and paying for it 2X. Of course the free plan was better, but we still saved nearly $1000 even having to pay for it!!

AFA best use that would go to Narcoossees. They have 2 entrees that are over $52 each. Next would be YS followed by Flying Fish. If DH really wants to go to CG I would just do it anyway.

CA Grill is worth 2 credits. The only 2 credit place thus far that we thought was not worth it was Brown Derby. We enjoyed our meals at Le Cellier and Spoodles on that trip much better, and they are only 1 credit locations.

I was all set to get an ADR for the Spirit of Aloha luau at the Polynesian (2TS), but after reading various posts, decided that our TS credits were of better use with 2 other meals -- so we are doing a character breakfast (Chef Mickey's) and the Sci Fi Drive Inn at MGM Studios. We are on the DDP for only 4 days, so want to do/see as many diverse things as we can. We also have a meal at Le Cellier and the Fantasmic pkg at Mama Melrose booked.

I think it depends on how many days you will have the DDP and what your priorities are as far as actual food vs. entertainment.

I am a bargain hunter. But when it comes to DDP we try to eat at the places that we think that we will enjoy, regardless of whether it is a good use of the credits or not.
Generally we don't use the credits for breakfast (really not a good use of them) and just use the TS for dinner, but that is about it.

Question:
Another example, is at Yachtsman, one of their pricier entrees is over $60.00 (there are other items higher), not including appetizer or dessert.

Just wondering about this. We ate there and the most expensive item was $42.00. Has there been some change in the menu? Also they have a Chateaubriand for Two for $80.00, but again, that is for 2. We are planning on returning there this October and wondered if something new was in the brew?

I think you might have meant to type V&A. Yachtsman has no entrees above $42 except for the chateaubriand for two. V&A on the other hand...you can rack up a bill over there.

Once again, my personal opinion, I don't think Yachtsman is any better than your best steakhouse at home. I am wincing now, waiting for someone to knock me upside the head...so again it's just my opinion!;)

I was also wondering about this question. My wife wants to go to AP at the WL, which we have been to before and has a nice atmosphere. We like the food better at FF, but the atmosphere is a little crowded and noisy -- harder to talk. I had a bad piece of Ahi Tuna at Narcoosee's once and it turned me off to that restuarant. (It's hard to do bad ahi tuna.) Also, my wife likes AP better than CG. We have never been to Citrico's. What's the atmosphere there like?

So we have ressies at AP. Last time we got the copper river salmon, which is $40, and we will probably do the same again.. With appetizer and dessert and tip that would bring our meals to about $70 pp, which is worth the 2 credits.

I haven't eaten there, but my parents went to Narcoosee's and had an absolutely wonderful meal on DDP. They felt it was worth the 2 credits.

It depends on how you like to eat, if you are wanting to make sure you maximise the potential monatary value, then very few of the 2 TS resturants are double the price fo some of the more expensive 1 TS resturants.

Peronally I like to choose the meals I like rather than simply go for whatever makes me feel I have the best bargian. Some 2 TS resturants are 2 x the cost of hte lower value 1 TS resturants.

However, HBD is a nice restruant, but I don't think it worth using 2 TS points, esp. if you are using the fantasmic package which is a fixed price anyway.

California Grill is good, the food is excellent, but it can getr a bit noisey. The food quality we have found to be excellent and it is great to time it with the fireworks, watching from outside. I'd say it is worth 2 TS as long as you are not pre-occupied with squeezing the greatest possible dollar of value from the plan.

Surf and Turf at Narcossees is on the plan.

We went to CG in Sept '06 after a friend highly recommended it. Everyone in our party loved it. The view of Magic Kingdom was breathtaking and then as the sun was going down, there was a beautiful sunset. The food was wonderful as well!! I think it is well worth 2 TS meals.

Citrico's was our best meal on the January trip. It is a beautiful restaurant, they do enforce the No t-shirt policy, and if you are lucky, you can get a great view of Wishes. Our server Nadim was also the best server of the trip, and the chef came out to the table and visited for some time. The meal was super, much better than AP on this trip. We would not hesitate to go here again, either OOP or for 2 TS.

WE plan to do 2 TS restraurants during our April/May trip. That trip is 12 nights and we find eating TS for 12 nights too much, so decided to do a couple of TS to take a break. WE break down our DDP differently than most. With the plan being $38 each, we take $12 CS and $4 snack, which leaves $22 for our TS meal, so if we break even at $22 we feel we didn't waste the TS credit. So feel at $44 each we will do fine at both Yachtsman and Narcossee. Looking at the menu we feel confident that our bill at both places will be way beyond the $88 we expect for using 2TS each. Our last trip last week we ate lunch at Coral Reef and even though I only choose the cesaer salad, once I added the smoothie, crab claws, choc. wave, taxes and tip, I know I far exceeded the $22 guidelines we have set for ourselves. I can't wait to try a couple of new places. We still find the most difficult part of the ddp is using the CS credits. Our trip last week we were on the ddp for 5 days and we were struggling again on our last day to use up 3 CS credits and 7 snack credits. We ended up buying a meal for the flight home and lots of snacks from the candy store for gifts.popcorn::

This is the question that I came over to this board to ask. My husband would LOVE to have lobster at WDW on our next trip.

Can't you search on allearsnet.com and type in "lobster" or "seafood" and find out which restaurants serve it?

You can also get lobster for 1 TS credit at Cap'n Jack's in DTD. If you weren't wanting to spend 2 credits for it.

I was going to say Cap n' Jack as well. I was just reading someones dining review this week and they really enjoyed it there (they had lobster).
