What's the best rental car rate you've found for 2006?

We are heading down the end of Feb. All of the coupons on mousesavers seem to expire in Dec. Last year I got a great rate at National for about $100, I'm not finding anything close to that right now, in fact National came up as over $400. Anyone finding any deals out there? Thanks,

I got $155 total on a Chevy Equinox through Alamo for 2/25-3/4. Check out their website. Not sure if the rate is still the same now though.

National is well over $400 for that timeframe. I also just booked a chevy equinox on alamo for 2/22 to 2/28 (costco code) for $178 taxes included. I know I will continue to do better.

I usually book with National but have found since their new website came up, their prices are outrageous compared to the other companies for the time frame we are going this Jan.

I booked a convertable for our upcoming trip through Alamo for Jan. 8-22 (15 days) for $321.90 total (tax/fees included). I used the BJ's code and the $25 off entertainment coupon. (ID 7011347 coupon D24C) They also waived the additional driver fee for my husband since we are members at BJ's.(I had to call about this)

Last year I booked an intermediate car through National for 2 weeks for a total of $176 - can't find a deal like that this year!! This year they wanted more for an intermediate than I am paying for the convertable through Alamo.
I am finding airfare is more expensive this year too. Last year we paid $86 pp round trip through jet blue - I can't get near that price this year.

We just reserved a Equinox from Alamo also, we used the ID and rate codes from Walmart and got it for $345 USD from 03/05-03/17/06. After we confirmed and printed the reservation we realized that we had stated that we were from the US (not Canadian residents). We tried to change it and when we did the cost went from $345 to over $896USD ($1058 CAD). My question is can we keep the American residency for this or will there be a problem with picking up the car in Orlando? Thanks for the input.

I just tried doing it as a US resident and Canadian, there was no difference. I don't think it matters, you may want to call to see what difference it makes.

I signed up for the frequent renter program with Alamo and tried to put in codes from the entertainment book. The Equinox came up as the cheapest, even cheaper than an economy. It said the coupon was not available with this deal though. Must be a special they are running. We are going from Feb,25-March 8. We are staying off site Sat-Sat and on Sun-tues. So we are going to drop the car off on Sunday at the Car Care Center and take Magic Express back to the airport. Unless I find a better deal between now and then.

Best rate I got was from Enterprise - $14 a day for a Neon! Jan. 28-31, 2006.
Can't beat that!

I am amazed at the rates you all are getting! We don't need a car since we are staying at BWV but the 1 hour time to use Disney transportation we were thinking about it if we could get a good rate. The best I could find close to BWV (Car care center) and returning to the airport May 6th-13th was 306.91 for an equinox. Not anywhere close to you all! Ugh!
