NBA Goofy - Thanks for the info. Seems like a number of folks are getting the Swan/Dolphin through Priceline lately. That is a fantastic rate! I'm still not so sure I want to do the Priceline thing for our Disney vacation, but the reward is certainly enticing! Enjoy your trip - we'll be there May 7-14.
Just booked the YC - standard view for $164+tax via the Shades of Green overflow rate - comes to $182 per night with tax. Beats the $333 per night rate I was given through CRO!
Also - got a free upgrade to a 1 bedroom at BWV a couple of years ago. AWSOME upgrade!
Originally posted by grinningghost Just curious - we always stay in a value priced hotel, but someday, maybe the trip after this one, we'll splurge on a Deluxe. What's the very best rate you've ever had at a Deluxe?
The best rate that I have seen for a Deluxe (but did not book) is $109 a night plus tax for a standard view room at the AKL. Assuming that "best" means cheapest to you.
We just returned from a stay at the AKL Concierge and paid $277 a night including tax and thought that was a great rate as rack rate is $425 a night plus tax. So we saved about 41% off of rack rate.
Back when the Cruise Line was just getting it's (sea) legs, they ran a repeat cruiser promotion that if you booked within 60 days of sailing and returned the following year, they would put you up in the Grand Floridian for the land portion.
So, we did the math and figured we'd not likely see something this generous from Disney ever again.
It was quite a nice stay and an even better cruise.
$40 Swan -- December 2001 through Priceline
$79 Contemporary -- July 2002 Shades of Green outcast rate
$109 Polynesian -- December 2002 CBR ourcast rate
The most expensive?
$450 BWV 1BR -- 12/30/99-1/1/00 AP rate!
... for $69 a night (excluding taxes and fees) each for our May trip through Priceline! I was terrified to book this way, but took the plunge since it was only for one night. I am thrilled, as we'll be switching to BCV for the remainder of our stay and this will be so close by!
I'll never forget the rate at BC when we were there in Feb. 2000 $329.00 plus tax!!! Whats worse is that it was in one of those rooms that were SMALLER than all of the others at BC (you can see it on the resort room map).
What a Ripoff!! This was pre-Dis days. I know better now.
My parents told me that was more than their mortgage payment/month!!
$163/nt including tax for concierge at the WL over this past Christmas. Talked to some guests who were paying over $400. Did not dare tell them our rate.
