We are going next spring (end of Feb/beginning March) for one week...

My aunt always goes with us, but now she is a DVC member, so she wants to "pay" for the room with her points. She has an annual pass.

So, should I give her the money for our park tickets and have her buy them? Or just buy them from undercover tourist? What about Magic Bands? What about Disney Express from the airport? What about My Disney Experience? I do have her log-in info and she lets me use her MDE to make fastpass and dining reservations, should we just do that? Or can I link mine to hers?

Someone give me a step by step breakdown here, lol.....

She says she thinks she gets a discount to buy our park tickets- is that true?

I believe currently DVC owners get a discount on annual passes (and renewals), but not on other tickets.

MDE: you will be supplied with a reservation number from your aunt all of that planning is up to you - if she is going invite her using your account and plan for her.
Your aunt will need to book magic express and the DP (should you use either) the DP has to be paid at the time she books the DP.
everything else is her buying at Disney prices which can be done by her by phone or through the member website.
DVC currently only discounts annual passes that is good ONLY for people living at her address. DVC sometimes runs ticket specials one just ended on March 31 but undercover tourist price was a little better for some of the ticket options available.
just advice as a lot of DVC members invite family then complain after... easy to find such threads on the DVC boards.
Your aunt is paying a considerable amount of money for your room so show her some appreciation some how... it is not free not has to be used not... she can easily rent the points for your room if she did not use them for between 1,000-2,000 depending on the resort and time of year (assuming she is getting you a studio larger rooms you can double or triple that amount).

I am not 100% clear if you aunt will be there or not. If she is, that makes everything super easy.:teeth: If not, it doesn't complicate things really as you have her login and you will have complete access to the reservation. The only thing a non-member staying on points has to reach out to the owner for is DME, adding the DDP if you choose and any requests.

Your aunt cannot use her membership for APs for anybody outside of her household. You might not be inquiring about that, but I wanted to throw it out there. :)

It does not matter who purchases tickets. The DVC member can go into MDE and associate any ticket with any person. I would get them from UT to save money. We do that and then I convert mine to an AP when I get there and I still get my DVC rate.

The MBs will be sent to her if everything is under her membership and she is going along. She can customize for everybody.

She will also receive your DME tags as well.

You can link the two of your together and share plans or you can just login to hers.

Some of us that own DVC invite people because we want them along and we never complain. If I am in the room, it costs nothing extra to bring them along. Maybe some people set unrealistic expectations that come along with an invite.

I see nothing in her post that warranted that last remark. :confused3 How would anybody here know their relationship or why the aunt even offered??

OK, thank you!!

Sorry, yes, she is coming- we have never- not EVER- gone to Disney without her, lol... She's the one who brought us for the first time, when I was 4 years old :) And we've been going ever since :) This is just the first time that we've thrown the DVC element into the mix... and I'm asking her these questions and getting a lot of, "I think so" answers, so I just wanted to double/triple check :)

Thank you- I know how much she is paying, as she even went and purchased MORE points so that we could get a 1 BR, even though I told her she didn't need to. She wants to. She is unmarried and does not have kids. She loves to spoil us, always has. She loves going with my kids, and she wants us all to stay together (and even put my name on this contract she just purchased, "so I can get it when she dies." The only complaining she did is when I tried to tell her we could get our own room and she could use her points for herself. She would rather get a 1 BR so she can be with us.

And no, her points would never go unused, she goes with any of her nieces who go, sometimes 2-3 times a year, lol. And yes, we will show our appreciation, probably by buying her food or something :)

They did, thanks :) Her original home resort is AK Kidani Village and the new contract is for Old Key West- so one of those... we are waiting for the new contract to go through...

We own at AKV - Kidani. LOVE IT there!

Have a lovely vacation. :)

I just wanted to mention that the member doesn't have to set up Magical Express. We rented points from David's last month, and I set up our DME reservations myself.
