What's the best counter service food at MGM?

We don't have time to have a sit-down meal, so just wanted to grab something quick this time. What's good? Starring Rolls looks promising, but I didn't know what else might have good food. Thanks!

Regretably, MGM has kind of yucky food for counter service. We tried the Pizza Planet last time and got good (not the best in your life, but really good) pizza and a nice salad. It filled us up, wasn't greasy, and the place was kind of cool. Altho we told the kids that we weren't going to spend time on the video games.

I've heard really bad reviews of just about everywhere at MGM, but we like Backlot Express.

I have to agree with KIRSTIN'S MOMMY that Backlot Express is about the best. I am looking forward to the new and improved Starring Rolls this summer.

I have always preferred the counter service places at the Magic Kingdom to any of the others.

I agree with Backlot Express, really good burgers and the desserts were generous and yummy!!

Is BackLot Express only open certain hours? We never seem to be there when its open. Thanks.

We also think MGM is lacking in the counter service department. This is the only place I have gotten food at that I couldn't finish eating. Backlot Express never seems to be open when we are there so we haven't tried it:(

We love to go to Backlot express each trip to get the kid's meal in the Disney lunch box! It's a great souvenir!::yes::

Would love to hear more about the Disney souvenir lunchbox! What does it look like? Can it be used as a lunchbox after the trip?

We, too, really can't seem to find any food we like at MGM. We tried the ABC Commissary one afternoon & it was definitely not good. We won't be going back anytime soon. We haven't tried the Backlot - maybe we will now. :)

I like Rosie's there is a nice choice of food, plenty of seating, and I have never had a problem with the service. It is not too far from where they sell the turkey legs so everyone can get what they like and not have to roam all over the place

Here are pictures of two that I have http://photos.yahoo.com/lauralane65

Ps...The clear 100 years of magic one glows in the dark! We found that out by accident after we were home for awhile!

MGM Counter Service is pretty lackluster. We usually do the food court area with Rosie's, Fairfax Fries, etc. because at least it is cheap and everyone can choose from the different stands.

Thanks beattyfamily!!!! :teeth: Those are really cute! I may just have to check that place out now in Sept. ;)

It's a tradition for us now! I just read on another site that they had a Tarzan one one year! That would have been cool!

A quick note here, yes, we are cheap. LOL

On our last trip to DW we decided to check out Starring Rolls as it had just been redone. We wandered in looking for a light lunch and were pleasantly surprised to see that they had a delicous fresh looking sandwich for only about twice what it would cost at Subway. Good deal for Disney thinks we. After we ordered we were appalled when the server took out a bit of the sandwich instead of the whole thing. The entire thing was only about six or 8 inches so a piece must have been only about 2-3 inches.

We are the same people who will gladly pay $60 for a meal at O'Hana's or a few other places but then they serve excellent food in plentiful amounts. Is all in what you are looking for.

We did enjoy the Earl of Sandwich and it was a bit pricey but filling and not bad for DW.

When we go to MGM we tend to eat before we go to the park and then plan a dinner at Hollywood & Vine for later. Works for us.

I like the turkey sandwich at Backlot Express
