What's so intense about "Stitch's Great Escape"???

In my opinion, nothing is intense about it, but then again I am not a little kid. I have been on Alien Encounter and just went on Stitch's Great Escape last week. It is much tamer. I loved A.E., but Stitch is more geared towards kids. A three year old girl was sitting next to me and she seemed to love it. It gets pretty dark and it feels like he is breathing on your neck and jumping on your shoulders. In my opinion, it is great fun and really hilarious. I liked his burp---- call me weird but it made me hungry. We ate at Cosmic Ray's immediately after Stitch! :rotfl:

Just got back and I DO think that Stitch's Great Escape is TOO intense for small children (depending on the child.) When we saw it many pre school age children were screaming and crying and at least one child along with his parent(s) had to be helped out of the room by a CM with a flashlight. Sure Stitch in the cartoons is cute and lovable and yes this is not as intense and scary as Alien Encounter was, but a cross of the two is still too much for many young children.

My 10 year old thrill ride junkie, action movie junkie son did not like this ride when we did it in January. When we returned to WDW in April he wouldn't go on it. I don't think it was the effects that scared him since he is older but he didn't like the feeling of the harness thing that keeps you in your seat. That is a big problem I would think since there does not appear to be any way to leave early. I almost always see some poor parent leaving It's Tough To Be A Bug early with a terrified child but you wouldn't be able to with Stitch. If you have a child that doesn't like being restrained in the dark skip this one! My 8 year old daughter liked it better than my son. I think like all rides it just depends on the kid and it can be hard to predict what your own child will like and not like!

ewwwwwwww!! That chili dog burp was nasty! I felt sick from it.
IMO this ride is no where near as intense as alien encounter. However, the man next to me seemed to be very uncomfortable with the harness that keeps you in your seat. I was not very impressed with this attraction and will not be going on it again. If anyone has any concerns about this ride...i would just skip it...you won't be missing much. :goodvibes

Daxx's Wife here. DS8 loved this show (I hesitate to call it a ride). He is a huuuge Stitch fan and thought this was great! I have to say that I enjoyed it as well, inc. the ewwww factors!

However, I can understand how some children would find it intense. I think of my Kindergarten students who might be afraid of the dark setting, the sense of not knowing what will happen next (esp. being in the dark) and the fear of what might happen to them in the dark. I would def. say this is not for the kids who are afraid of things that go bump in the night.

I want to add that, even as an adult, I cannot stand the restraints and seats. Both, in my opinion, are very uncomfortable. The restraints came down heavy on my shoulders and were pressing on them. I know they do this so I can't get out of my seat ... but still. Yeowch!

Does it have any alien still in it? Yes -- the part where the room goes to pitch and they're flashing lights around as if looking for Stitch. That was the only similar thing. Nothing horrible ... smell effect, sound effects, Stitch bounces on your shoulders and blows in your ear and water splash and that is about it. Oh, and the cyborg thing that you have the pre-show with isn't as menacing as he used to be ... they've added a hat and other things to "warm" him up a bit. And, the cute little alien (whatshisname?) - the yellow fuzzy one, he's still in it in the pre-show segment.

It's official you are wierd! :earboy2:

It's quite a bit darker than AE. I was determined to make up my own mind on this after reading all the other views on it. But sadly they were right. This is just terrible, not intense at all (for me anyway), too dark to see anything at all for the vast majority of the time in there. Alien Encounter was so much better.

It may not be intense to every child but I can see how it could frighten some. My 4 yr old nephew loves Stitch and will "ride" anything once (he was so disappointed he was 1" too short for Space Mtn. :sad2: ). Since he's not fond of the dark, we just warned him ahead of time about the periods of darkness, harness, etc. He loved it and we did it twice more during our visit. He even got a kick out of the van Stitch "crashed" at DTD.

I think AE would have been the one attraction he could not have handled at his age.

This is a very much toned down version of Alien and I never saw anyone, child or adult have a problem with the original. That said, this Jan. we saw Stitch and the kid next to me, 5 or 6 I'd say, absolutely freaked out. His father tried to calm him by opening his cell phone to produce some light but it was no help. This sort of reaction is a very individual thing. A few trips back we were exiting the Living Sea @ Epcot, 'riding' one of the Hydrolators up and a rugrat aboard with us lost it. You never know with the little ones.
