what's one thing you wished you had packed?

These are not things I have forgotten, but things I am always glad I remembered:

* Ziploc bags - variety of sizes
* Black Sharpie
* Small roll duct or packaging tape

I always take these things along, with no particular reasons in mind, but by the time we are back home, we seem to find a use for them.

We've brought sand, shells & wet swimsuits home from the beach in ziploc bags, divvied up snacks in snack sized ziplocs, saved leftovers, etc. Tape has gotten us home with a suitcase with a broken zipper, held together ripped rain ponchos and more. A black sharpie came in handy when my son got a football signed at a professional football training camp and one time we were glad we had the sharpie when we made signs saying "you have a flat tire" and held it up to the car next to us. They were grateful. :goodvibes

You can always use duct tape instead of moleskin. Found this idea in Unauthorized Guide to WDW. Other uses: keeping curtains closed so no sun gets in to wake you up too early. Chip bag closed. Emergency clothing repair. I cut off long strips and then fold them up into small pads then I can unroll what size I need. Won't take up much room this way.

I feel like I'm reading this wrong. You fold up the duct tape? Doesn't it stick to itself? If I so much as get a wrinkle when I rip off a strip it's impossible to pull it back apart.

Since duct tape is rolled on top of itself when you get it, wouldn't it be similar to simply unrolling a piece in the first place?

Back up sunglasses for me I always lose them. Flush-able cleaning wipes and lip balm SPF 30. Sun burned lips really suck!:sad2:

Mucinex. You can't buy it anywhere in the park and have to order from a pharmacy that delivers for an insane price.

Mole skin. One time I had purchased new socks just for my trip. Bad idea. I ended up with so many blisters on my feet, that I could hardly stand it. I bought new socks and mole skin. I think they saved my trip.

Word to the wise: No matter what tip you hear on the Dis, make sure that tip works for you before heading to the parks. Moisture-wicking socks are definitely a no go for me!

I bring a lot of the things the previous posters have mentioned but I never go to a hotel without a couple small chip clips or clothes pins to keep those curtains shut tight so no light gets in in the morning!

Most hotels have hangars in the closet with clips on them, which I use to hold the curtains closed.

About 20 years ago, I got caught in a "famouse" summer tropical downpour. Even though I had my poncho, my one pair of tennis shoes got completely soaked. From that point on, I only pack walking shoes and I make sure I have 3 pair. I will not bring high heels or dressy, uncomfortable shoes. If I have a fancy dinner planned I make a pair of walking shoes "work" for the occasion. No one looks at my feet anyway!

Someone else mentioned the following and I concur: OTC pain meds, feminine products, stomach remedy (we use Pepto Caplets), soothing crème for bites, rash, chafing etc., tube of antibac. crème, bandaids.

We always bring 10 clips. I always use them to hang up wet swim clothes over the bathtub. We have used them to hold the curtains closed too. Holding a blanket that is used as a sun shade on the stroller, etc.

Collapsible laundry hamper from the dollar store to hold dirty clothes.

Collapsible bins for bathroom items and one to place on the table for the items collected during the day at Disney and needed to head back out to the parks with. Everything is in one place= no searching :)

SO random, but I got a splinter on the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, and I needed tweezers so bad.. didn't have any!

Here now. Haven't used frog towels or body glide. Forgot headphones. Very glad I bought a pair of teva sandals with lots of arch support. Too hot for sneakers and it's rained every day. Cheap ponchos ripped. Bought a Disney one. Using tiny cross body with just travel size sunscreen phone and poncho with a water clipped to side. Too hot for a big bag. But I don't have small children

What is a frog towel  ? we are planning our first trip for christmas next yeah from australia

From Amazon:

Product Description
Frogg Togg Chilly Pad is an innovative way to keep cool during a workout, hard ride, tough climb or any other strenuous activity. When wet, the towel becomes considerably cooler than the outside air, thereby providing cooling relief to the user. When it stops cooling, simply re-wet the towel and wring it out. Machine washable.

I didn't know what it was either, but sounds pretty cool (no pun intended).

Great thread! We are leaving in a few days and this has helped me with a few things I didn't think of.

One thing I didn't see mentioned here...aloe vera gel! Also, one new thing I am trying this trip is Epsom Salt to soak my feet after a long day in the parks.

I'm a chronic overpacker so I don't usually forget anything, but have had to learn what I could do without.
There is a really good packing template on Mousesavers that I use every time and just check things off as I pack. It does have things on it that I don't need but it covers everything I do need and hasn't let me down yet.

When we were in MK last trip just standing around a little boy took a tumble on the pavement and I was able to reach into my little bag and pull out an antiseptic wipe pad and a few bandaids for his mom. My own kids have never needed them but it was helpful to someone at least.:rotfl:

Oh I just remembered .. the one thing I didn't have! Both my kids got sick on a trip once. DD needed adult tylenol as she's a teen, and ds needed junior ibuprofen. Would you know I had the opposite and had to go buy both. We had to hit the walk in clinic so I was near a pharmacy anyway and the prices weren't too bad. But it's still a pain to purchase things you know you have plenty of at home.

My luggage was one lb overweight so I had to move things to DDs
suitcase. Some more things I didn't use were the power strip, a second bathing suit, half
my clothes, we did laundry by the pool. Mini fans.

I wish we'd gotten two cases of water and diet coke from Amazon pantry. And I could've skipped the four lbs of twizzlers! I didn't read how big the package was, lol
