What's on the Emerald Aisle? **2014**

National has 2 different ways to obtain cars.
1.] Emerald aisle. This is a mixture of different kinds of cars and different levels. Its a miss match area. You are rolling the dice > to see what you will get. they do say the "intermediate" level is the smallist available. But, you might score a convertible, suv, van, lux, or you basic mid sized, or full sized car. Within emerald aisle there are 2+ levels of cars & have different qualifications for level of service.

2.] National reserve. If you know you need a van or suv. You reserve your suv or van or whatever > when you get to national simply look for your lane of cars. and pick whichever car you choose. As long as its your reserved category.

-- National lets you skip the desk > and go directly to the garage > pick out your own car and give your information on your way out at the exit kiosk.

Just wanted to add more about the higher levels. When you are a regular EA member you do choose from the regular Emerald Aisle, but if you get to the next tier, the Executive Aisle (renting 40+ days a year), there is a second aisle, often across or near the regular Emerald Aisle. It generally is a silver sign and says "Executive Aisle". On that aisle you'll often find some nicer cars and as a member at that higher level you can choose from either the regular aisle or the executive aisle. We are members of the Executive aisle and often find larger vehicles there, and sometimes with a few more bells and whistles. However, just make sure you only choose from the regular Emerald Aisle and not the Executive by mistake. You will have to return the vehicle back to the aisle if you choose from the wrong aisle by mistake, or given the choice of paying more money at the kiosk for the vehicle you chose by mistake. One of my most recent trips we all had to back up so the person could return their car back to the aisle. If you're not sure or confused, you can seek out an attendant to make sure you are choosing correctly, though it it pretty easy to figure out. There is another level even higher--I think one of our other disboards member is at that level.

BTW we are selecting from the aisles in 2 weeks so will report our findings...

Just returned from WDW. First time renting with National and we were very pleased. There were Nissan Altimas, Toyota Camry, Kia and Buick.

I've had three Aisle rentals in the last six weeks (building a place near Disney and many walk-throughs). March 8th to 14th trip arrived B side at 7:30 pm and had choices of many Camry's, Sonata's, and Impala's (old body style). Took a loaded Sonata. April 2nd to 4th arrived A side and pretty late (10:15 pm) and the Aisle was pretty bare. One Kia Soul, one Nissan Altima, and a few Camry's and Impala's. Took a loaded Impala LTZ with just 400 miles. A few wonky things due to the age of the platform - tilt wheel but no telescope?? and what sounded like one tinny speaker for the relatively nice radio. Despite being bigger and heavier than the Sonata, the Impala got much better mileage despite being stuck in a lot of I-4 traffic. The Sonata got a traffic-less trips back and forth to Tampa and still couldn't average over 25 mpg (Impala averaged 27.7 mpg in a vehicle with over 300 horsepower). Latest trip was April 23rd to 27th and we arrived B side at 4 pm to find the usual glut of Camry's and Impala's plus one Chevy Tahoe (had to look twice as bigger SUV's are pretty rare these days, a Chevy Malibu just off the truck with 7 miles on it, and a Buick Lacrosse which was selected. The Lacrosse had the Eco package and was beautiful inside and out, but a bit sluggish in acceleration. It was great for mileage with an average of just over 30 mpg from a full-size car. Next trip is not until the first week of June now, but I'll post my choices for that trip when it's over.

Love this thread! Anybody Executive Elite? Curious what's been seen lately on the Executive Aisle at MCO.

We picked up at 1pm today side A. There were just few vehicles on the emerald aisle. Mostly mid size and full size cars. There was just a couple of small SUVs. I saw a jeep. Since we are executive aisle members we choose from there. They had a few mid size SUVs and some standards size SUVs. Saw a Santa Fe. A ford edge, and a pathfinder. There were no minivans or anything larger from either aisle.

We got to side A about 1030 am today. Asile was full and lots of choices.
No minivans, convertibles, or large suv's.

Saw: impalas, camary's, dodge charger, sonata, altima's, malibu's.
small suv's: santa fe, rouge, jeep x2,

We choose a Rav4 > wanted to try it and the mileage was low 4K.

Arrived around 3pm MCO on April 30. Slim pickings- 1/2 the row was filled at most. Only cars available, 1 Camry (was taken by a family), 1 Altima (taken) and a few Sonatas, Impalas left. We chose the Sonata.

I kept the full size one BC it is only $10 more, and I'm nervous that there won't be something bigger than a Corolla on the aisle. I'm staying in Orlando for 9 nights so we will have a fair amount of luggage. Thanks in advance to anybody who reports w/ current finds!

I have also made a reservation for a mid size and full size with the emerald aisle. Can I keep both reservations for the day of arrival, with no penalty? I will have a wheelchair and I am afraid that it won't fit in the car with the luggage. I was going to cancel the full size but now I am not sure what to do.

Emerald Aisle is GUARANTEED midsize, nothing more. Even though there are almost always larger choices on the aisle, you can't bank on it. If you absolutely NEED something bigger, keep your fullsize reservation. Even with fullsize, you can still pick from the EA if you see something that you want on the aisle.

We arrived Saturday night at 9:15 pm. Entire aisle was full. There were 3 small SUVs, we took the FORD escape. There were 2 Santa Fe.

Multiple Dodge Avengers, one Camry, Impalas, etc. no vans, no large sedans.
