Hi All ~ We usually fly, but we'd like to try driving. We usually go in the Spring, but due to my job, we are thinking of early July. What's the weather, crowds, all around atmosphere like in July in Florida/WDW? Thanks! S

We went last year in July!
One word-HOT!!!
the crowds were bearable but the heat was oppresive..

We went last July and we had a great time. It was crowded and hot, but if you are prepared for it, you will have a blast. We brought loads of sunscreen, mini fans, and drank lots of water. I would sugest not sitting in the front of Fantasmic, because the fire from the show added to heat! Scorching! :sunny:
Disneyworld is beautiful all year 'round. The summer seems to have more energy and the parks and water parks are at full swing with all of the kids out of school. Keep in mind that you are asking WDW fans this question! :earsboy:  :cheer2:

OPPRESSIVELY HOT, HUMID, AND CROWDED!!!!!!!!! Expect thunderstorms every afternoon/evening. Even if it was free we wouldn't go in July!

Second that!! It's just too much to deal with the crowds and the heat at the same time. At least for this Disney fan it is.

We just went at the end of November and I will never go at any other time. The weather was perfect, between 75 and 80. Warm enough to swim but not hot at all. It only rained one evening. And the longest line we waited in at ANY of the parks was about 15 minutes and that was for Soarin at Epcot. Mostly we walked up and in. The parks and resorts were decorated so beautifully too. Best time to go if at all possible IMO. ;)

I agree with all of the above, except I do go in July and I pay a lot of money to do so! :earboy2: We love it in July! Disney would not be the same for my family without the heat and crowds. As someone mentioned above, there is a certain excitment about Disney at that time of year. Also, you never have to worry that it will be too cold to use the pools, and we use them almost every afternoon during the worst of the heat.

You will get a passing thunderstorm, but we never experienced more than about two hours of rain total during each of our week-long trips. Sometimes the rain was actually welcomed, as it cleared out the parks.

The only thing I can say I did not enjoy because of the heat was Fantasmic. The wait was long and it was still in the 90's (or felt like it) at 9:00 pm. There was no breeze whatsoever.

I think you will have a great time if you know what to expect. I personally would never go to WDW in the winter and I know a lot of people on the boards love to. Everyone is different.

we have been a few times in early August and kind of like it.

It will rain every day at 2:35pm. For about 45 mins. You can set your watch by it. It cools things of for a while, and the amateurs all leave. So the crowds are light in the late afternoon.

And it just makes the pool that much more refreshing.

Did anyone say hot, how about really, really hot and muggy and afternoon storms and hurricanes. But if its the only time you can come, it is Disney and the air conditioning works really well. :sunny:

Hot, Humid, Crowded and did I say Hot.

I have been to WDW every year since 1987 and always went in July so we wouldn't have to take the kids out of school. The last few years it was only my DH and I but we still went in July. That's the only way we experienced WDW.

This year we went early December and were amazed at the difference. Yes, I now prefer the cooler weather but if my choices were July or not at all I'd definitely go back in July. Just make sure to take breaks in the afternoon. If you try to stay in the parks all day you'll burn out quickly.

Yes it can be very hot in July visiting the Mouse. In the past i would always be going down to Florida in July or August but now go in September.

We went for 10 days this past July and loved it. It was hot but bearable, just prepare yourself for it by drinking lots of water and taking breaks. The crowds were large but we found that we still didn't wait long for anything.

As for rain, we only used our ponchos once and that was a waste.

I say go for it.

It is very hot, but there are lots of rides where you can get wet and also lots of air conditioned places to cool off in. Plus, it's the perfect time of year to enjoy the resort pool after a full day in the park.

It is very crowded, but the parks are also open late. Fast Pass helps out a great deal, too.

It's probably not my absolute favorite time of year to go, mainly because DD16 has problems with the heat. However, I like it during that time. Usually, everything is open and you're not freezing after riding Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids.

We live in Texas and it is HOT and HUMID here and it was just not fun for us in the Summer. We made 3 trips over the last 12 months, We will go in the early spring, November or December. It is just too nice at Christmas, we love it. :earsgirl:

I have been to Disney 16 times and out of that 13 were in early July.. We loved it.. I love the hot weather and the sun.. the whole atmosphere is great then..

If you dont mind hot weather and really bad crowds do it! :)

ITA, There is something about WDW in the summer months that I can't quite put my finger on. It really is a lot of fun if you have a plan and you can stand that kind of heat.

We have done 2 trips in Decemeber, 2 in April and 1 in August. What I did not like about the 2 in December was that the weather ranged from chilly to just barely warm enough to swim on both trips. (a cold front seems to follow us down from Jersey).
Personally, I prefer the weather to be HOT when I am on vacation. We really enjoy the pools and the water parks and the weather is a bigger factor for us than the crowds.
No matter when you decide to go, I am sure you will have a magical trip!!

Hot, crowded, humid, crowded, sticky, crowded and rainy!
Did I mention it is crowded and humid?

And I live in Texas.

I live in Central Florida and summer is still my favorite season! It will be hot and humid, with temps around 90. All the parks will be open late! There is always a place to seek refuge from the heat...pools, air conditioned attractions, cool drinks, shade.
