What's International Gateway for?

Aside from the "walk up" entrance, there appears to be a large bus turnaround, and a bus waiting area. I don't see anywhere for a bus to come from, unless the driveway predates the Beach Club and the boardwalk. Anyone know what all this was supposed to be for?

I think that it just may be a covering for various events that may take place in the area.

After the S/D were built there was tram service between them and Epcot. That area was for that purpose.

The area is also used for parties as we were there last Dec. and the place was surrounded by trees that were on rolling platforms and lots of tables were being set.

That area was designed to be a land transportation depot for the Epcot resorts. With the Friendship boats and the walkway around Crescent Lake, it's not needed anymore.
